Haha, I could hear your voice when I got the game... "I told you, you should have ordered from Amazon..."

I think if other people had preordered they would've given me a better copy.  But since it was just one...

Does anyone know anything about "Nosferatu" for the SNES? I picked it up today. It sells in the $40 range, but I've never heard of it.
It's kinda odd that there is a SNES game that I've never even heard of. I'm no expert, but I ain't green neither.
And I grabbed King of Dragons for a Hamilton. I like these 16-bit beat 'em ups.

I split your posts into a new thread since it's technically October already. ;)

Nosferatu is an AWESOME game, it's a weird mixture between the platforming in Prince of Persia and Flashback, and a beat'em up.  It's uncommon, but I played it back in the day and it was awesome as hell.

Ha, indeed.  I forgot, too, until Foxhack fixed it for us.  Thanks, Uncle Foxhack!

From what I know it's like Prince of Persia.

I love that whenever a game like this comes out, the three of us are like afjaklfjhakljfaj!

But seriously, start pre-ordering from Amazon! :p

Hahah, yeah, I gotta start doing that more often.  But I love picking stuff up day 1, and I've gotten a lot of perks over time from the manager at the local GS.  Especially when it comes to the preorder items that aren't physically bundled into the game.  I'll have to see if I can get the giant display boxes they had for the game.

Ya but most of the Amazon games I've gotten have release day delivery anyway. So you're still getting it day one, even without a Amazon Prime membership... Though I will say I've saved a ton on shipping thanks to Prime too.

In all honesty, they should have given you a good copy to begin with. Since you went through the trouble of going in and giving them money ahead of time. Seriously, if it was me I would be livid to the point of telling them to shove their shitty smashed copy.

Usually the copies have always been good, occasionally better than what I've gotten through Amazon (separate artbooks like the one for FE:A, for instance, were more dinged up from Amazon); this was the one of the first times I was disappointed in the condition of what they were giving me.  I'm not the sort to make a fuss, though, but I will likely return the game after receiving another copy from Amazon.

The other time I've been disappointed by the condition of something they gave me was the steel case for Ni No Kuni, but apparently *all* of them had minor scratches and dents.

Nosferatu is a pretty legit find. It's not rare but I've never seen a nice/collectable copy of it out in the wild. I've been on the lookout for a while!

My copy of Etrian Odyssey Untold came in the mail from Amazon and it is pristine.

Couple of days late to the party on this one.  Not like it *really* matters much  :o  (since I know it will be A LONG time before I actually get around to playing it).

(Also got mine from Amazon...in pristine condition:)  ;)

I'm just in the post-game content of Rainbow Moon...on "cruise-control"...and will be for the next few days until...

...DISGAEA D-2: A Brighter Darkness

gets here  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

I'm a little disappointed w/ N1 this time, though because:

A).  First.. I got e-mail(s) from them saying that the pre-ordered copies (of the games, CE's, and LE's) will be shipping/arriving later than anticipated -*then*- more e-mail(s) informing me that since I pre-ordered so early (the day the LE's went up for pre-order) that this message would not apply to me, so I should disregard the previous messages...Okay...

then

B).  This morning's e-mail said that the hardcover strategy guides (that come w/ the versions that I pre-ordered)...won't be getting to their warehouse and/or shipped-out until ~3 days after the game.

So, I figure that I won't be getting the guide until ~ a week after I get the game  >:(

For 99% of the games that I get & play...I wouldn't even care -but- if ever there were games that you almost *need* a guide (because there's such a steep learning-curve + so many hidden secrets, deep -n- complex mechanics, gameplay, and customization/optimisation)...it's the *DISGAEA* games  :'(

/RANT

FWIW; TL,DR =

I still can't fucking wait for it to get here -and- will be opening it, throwing the disc into one of my PS3's, and playing it within minutes of its arrival  8)

I've never finished Wind Waker, but it's not because I didn't own it - it's because I was trying to complete the pictures sidequest, where you have to photograph every monster and character in the game :D I can't wait to see how the HD one looks and what they added. The "self pictures" thing that you can post to Miiverse seems really fun too.

I see in your signature that you've recently gotten the Wonderful 101 too, did you play it yet? Is it good? I think I should try the demo.

Pretty good weekend so far:

Picked up at a retro game store yesterday:

NES:
Excitebike (box only) - now my copy is CIB :)
Conflict - CIB
Palamedes

Gamecube
Luigi's Mansion - gave up finding it in the wild, so picked it up.

Today I hit some garage sales and found:

Sega Dreamcast console - missing controllers, but was only $5.
N64 lot - System with 2 controllers, cart storage drawer and games: Mario Kart 64, Wave Race 64, Mission Impossible, Goldeneye, Star Wars Episode 1 Racer.  Good haul for $20.
Loose discs for Wii Sports Resort and Splinter Cell (XB), and Test Drive Off Road (PS1). $0.25 each.

Nice finds guys! I just moved about two hours away where I used to live and have only really had time to check out a few thrift stores, I got some genesis games, nothing too special, but today I actually found an Import Ridge Racer type-4 with the Jogcon all in box and Secret of Mana as well. My dad also gave me his nice 40 inch LED Tv, so I picked up some HDMI cables for the ps3 and 360, awesome stuff

I'm not a completionist at all, so I won't bother with the picture quest. I will say the game looks great, and the faster sailing is nice.

As for W101, it's awesome. It's a very hard game and it has a really large learning curve (which is why a lot of reviews aren't positive, most reviewers aren't willing to take their time to learn how a game is played and they fault the game for their own mistakes). It doesn't hold your hand at all, so you have to figure out how to play it on your own (even with the hint text there). The gameplay is really fun and rewarding.
(note: use the right analog stick to draw shapes, it works a lot better than the touch screen)

I picked up my Wind Waker LE yesterday, first thing when Gamestop opened. Didn't want to risk them selling my copy. They only got 4 total copies of the game in, 3 LE and 1 regular. I also picked up the CE guide with the cloth sea chart and the regular guide, as I wanted the poster.

Then today I went back to Gamestop first thing to pick up my Disney Infinity Jack Skellington preorder. They had a promotion for the first 50 customers get an exclusive poster with any Disney Infinity purchase, and I am a sucker for posters. Of course, no one was there for Jack but me, and apparently I was one of 2 whole people that even preordered him, ha.

I honestly say that now I am officially done with Gamestop.

EDIT: I forgot to add, last week, (maybe the week before so might have been in September), I finally found the 4 disc Final Fantasy VIII Music Collection at a used book store for about 12 bucks. I couldn't freaking believe it, I have wanted this soundtrack for a long, LONG time, and I finally found it. Final Fantasy VIII is my favorite FF, in case anyone wondered.

Came back from Flee Market with these in perfect shape:

[ BradyGames Guides ]

Official ] Dark Sector $2
Official ] The Darkness $2
Official ] Folklore $2
Signature Series ] Grand Theft Auto IV $2
Official ] Viking: Battle for Asgard $2

Then found this buried on a booth shelf:
Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas - Sunday Driver $1.66

Viking: Battle For Asgard is such an underrated game. It doesn't do anything new really, but what it does, it does well. I had a lot of fun playing through it. Don't know why it's such a "bargain" game.

Agreed. Still love it to bloody pieces. Oh... got these today, thanx to Big Lots hosting a 20% Off Everything Weekend Sale:

Castlevania Lords of Shadow
Yakuza Dead Souls

$8 each.

I had a 20% off of any used game coupon for GS that I've been meaning to use -and- I was picking up a $50 PSN card as a gift for a friend...SO...(in spite of already owning both of their 'vanilla' versions) - I picked up (both CiB):

Fallout New Vegas: Ultimate Edition (which, in addition to supposedly having bugs fixed/upgrading done from the original release) also includes the Dead Money, Honest Hearts, Old World Blues, Lonesome Road, Gun Runner's Arsenal, & Courier's Stash DLC's) -and-

The Fallout 3: GotY Edition (which comes with the Operation: Anchorage, The Pitt, Broken Steel, Point Lookout, & Mothership Zeta DLC's).

Since I'm already SOoooo very far behind the curve on getting around to playing these 2 games (which...*MANY* friends have been telling me how good they are + how much they think that I'd like them)...I guess that when I do *finally* get around to playing them - these will be the most 'convenient' versions of them to play  8)

Anybody here played 'em/have any thoughts (good and/or bad) about the games?

Picked up Donkey Kong Jungle Beat with the Bongos for 14.00, I have always been interested in this game and now I see I can use a regular controller, SWEET!

Also found a small place down the road from my house that is kind of a gamers lounge, but they sell a few things. Met the owner, he was really cool, and snagged a copy of Spirit Tracks on the DS with case and manual for 20.00.

Came home to find my copy of the Disgaea D2 LE waiting for me, hooraj! Art book, soundtrack and everything were included (no delay for me, woot). The construction seems a bit strudier than some past NIS releases - the box top slips off instead of having a flap to get all bent up and ragged looking. Very nice!

Yeah, I know, I know :)

It's just 'funny' (read: *NOT* at all funny) that 99% of the games that I get just get tossed into a very big, and ever-growing backlog...while the 1 out of 100 that I'm really excited about playing & can't wait for...Always...W/O fail works out this way  :'(

So I picked up the arcade cab for my next MAME project from storage at a friend's house (which is an old cab converted into a MVS-2). It has the MVS-2 board and power supply, but on the front of the control panel it says the board hangs on power up.. so I have no idea if it's fixable. If it is, I wouldn't mind converting it to play on my TV in the game room though.

Anyway, in the MVS-2 were these carts for Fatal Fury 2 and Metal Slug X. There is also a 2nd MVS-2 with it, but I don't know the story on it. Along with a perfectly good NEO-GEO marquee and mini-marquees for both games! I have no idea if they work, but the contacts look nice and clean (especially considering that the thing sat outside in the snow for 2 days before we found it).

I found Wayne's World for the NES yesterday.  I found it at a "deal" too.  $40 wasn't too shabby to spend on that one.  I get it home and the piece of shit won't come on.  I've had 2 carts in the probably 800 games I've owned that I haven't been able to get to work.  The first was Chip and Dale, so I bought a new game; and this.  I guess I'll be taking it back to the store.

That sucks. Surprising, too. It's actually pretty rare that an NES game flat out doesn't work, contrary to what most people think, as it usually just needs to be cleaned or the console is dirty.

Tried 2 consoles. Both top loaders. Cleaned it over and over. I haven't taken it apart because I don't have a security bit.

*EDIT: IT'S ALIVE!  I played the first 2 levels and this game sucks.  It sucks, but it works. I guess there were just gremlins in it or something wonky going on.

To anyone in Canada: pre-order games from Future Shop. Just saying. And wait for big pre-order sales.
Both Pokemon and WWHD I got a day before release, and they took nearly no time to actually get here.

So...as someone with a shitload of Pokemon games in their backlog (on the GC, DS, GBA, and 3-DS) - who's never played any of them:

Is it still possible for someone just starting the series to (*realistically*) "Catch Em All"?

And, yes - I'm talking/asking about all Pokemons from all gens...is it still even possible -and- how would you go about doing it/ how hard & how much time would it take?
Title: Re: October 2013 - Recently Added to Collection/Recently Purchased

Ya it's possible. I've been working on it for a long time. You can transfer pokemon from the GBA games all the way up to the current ones if you follow the correct steps. But it takes a lot of trading from one game to another to do it. Before Black and White came out, I was prolly 30% complete. But I am way behind now. The biggest problem is the special event pokemon, most of them aren't normally obtainable in game.

Yeah, I'd heard about them and they were mainly the ones that I was wondering about.

On topic:

I'm a happy man today  ;D

I'm *Playing* my Disgaea D-2: A Brighter Darkness

-AND-

I'm *Listening* to my NIER Replicant + Gestalt OST's (NO...not at the same time:)

They arrived here so much sooner than I was expecting - seeing as it was shipped from JP -and- only ordered ~a week ago.

They are (read: sound)...I guess...that..."Phenomenal" is close -but- it's (far & away) the very best OST that I've ever heard...and I've heard a ton of 'em.

If you don't buy it -at least- try to listen to it somewhere  ;)

I think it'd be up your alley, Scott. I was a little apprehensive at first, because there was such a jarring difference between what critics and players were saying, but IMO, it's one of the best games this gen. There are some rough aspects, but the story and characters are remarkably well done, particularly the relationship between Nier and his daughter, and my personal favorite, Kaine. Really great replay value, too.

Seriously dude, pick it up as soon as you can.

Firepower 2000

Sega CD
Lords of Thunder - a game I played when I was a kid and for YEARS I've been trying to remember what it was and what platform it was on. I finally found out and went straight out and bought it. Excellent scrolling shooter.

Finally received my DQX controller today. Pre-ordered it way back in June I think and it shipped Sept 26. Took almost an entire month to arrive. wtf lol ... anyhow. Also picked up the new Skylander game with a couple of characters. Not really looking forward to the crapstorm of characters that is being released with this game. 16 swappable characters, another 16 new characters, at least 4 more legendaries, and even more purchasable levels. This is going to be the biggest of the 3 games by far.

biggest dissapointment
3. no Poke'dex, so if you were planning to pick this up for that reason, it's not there

I got this bad boy complete in the box today at Goodwill:

I know, it's not a HUGE find or anything. But to come across any Game Boy Color game, complete, in the original box, is rare. And I'm a big 90s wrestling fan.

It was a GREAT Goodwill run. In addition to that game, I also picked up:

CDs:
-Disturbed - Believe
-Ratt - Ratt & Roll
-Scorpions - Crazy World
-Stabbing Westward - Wither, Blister, Burn, & Peel
-W.A.S.P. - The Headless Children
-W.A.S.P. - Inisde the Electric Circus

Movies:
-Conquest of the Planet of the Apes
-Escape From the Planet of the Apes
-Hannibal

I'm still playing the Original Dragon's Dogma, (kinda got distracted from it playing GTA5 Online) This is pretty much the same game with all the DLC added. to get all the achievements You have to play the game twice, so I bought this to make the second play through different then the first. Added quests, armor, weapons etc.

Price-cut + (the upcoming) VITA TV + the getting of the system, memory card, holder, Persona 4: Golden, Disgaea 3: Absence of Detention, & Zero Escape: Virtue's Last Reward...all for...*FREE* for my B-Day = me having no complaints  ;D

I had one of those rare awesome finds yesterday. I bought a $5 Red GBA SP sight unseen. I give the dude a Lincoln and headed home happy.

I got home and was about to give it a cleaning. Wait a minute!  There's a game in it. It was a red game so it blended in. It was a Pokemon Ruby be all camouflaged and whatnot.

I'm not a huge Pokemon fan, but I sure don't mind having this one in a $5 GBA.

Nice! I need to eventually get a new Ruby, Emerald and Sapphire. All the of the ones I have must have been owned my a toddler, cause the labels are trashed and/or missing. haha

I'm not a fan of playing Pokemon games. I played red for a little while. My little brother had it way back when. It just wasn't my cup of tea. That being said, the collector in me still has to catch 'em all. The games that is.

Today I found a sealed Hot Wheels: Extreme Racing for the PS1 - $1.

And in the "Damn this is an awesome find but I gotta pay the bills"... complete in box copies of Splatterhouse 3 and Castlevania Bloodlines (plastic case version). Pretty much mint except for the manuals.

I'm really, really sorry, but Splatterhouse 3 can go for $150 on eBay and I have bills to pay. ^^;

I would like to preface this by saying I love it when girls work at pawn stores.

Was out yesterday and on the way home, figured I would stop in one of the local pawn stores. They have a huge rack full of 360/PS3 games and I saw 2 copies of Dragon Age ultimate edition. One was marked $20 and the other was unmarked. So I grabbed the unmarked one and walked over to the accessory area. On top was one of those camo PS3 controllers. Ive been wanting a 4th controller anyhow and with the stepson getting interested in military stuff, figured this would be one he would use. Took the controller and the game up to the counter. I asked on the game first and the girl (obviously unknowledgeable on gaming) said "How about $5?" ... I then asked on the controller (I turned it over and they just bought it yesterday according to the purchase sticker) and she said "$20 for all?" Out comes the wallet! Controller is in perfect condition and the game itself doesnt have a single mark on it. Considering any official PS3 controller is still $60 on the shelf and the game is $30 new, I saved a good chunk of change.

I recently picked up After Burner and Slam City with Scottie Pippen. The 32X collection is starting to get quite large. 22/36!!

I love After Burner and the 32X version is possibly the best. It's right up there with the Saturn version but with no load times.

As for Slam City. It may not be good, but damn it, I love Tom Zito games for some reason. Hell, I love FMV games. I'll be honest, one of the next systems I'm looking at as a side project is the 3DO.

Never played it. I never have been a football fan of any sort, either.

But the one football game worth playing, IMO, was NFL Blitz on PS1. It was a ton of fun to just beat the hell out of your buddies' players during and in-between plays.
Title: Re: October 2013 - Recently Added to Collection/Recently Purchased

Interesting. Mutant League Football always felt like a reskinned Madden to me. I figure if you like one you'd like the other... guess not. But there is something about the simple addition of mutants that makes it better. This is true in most aspects of life. A fun run is ok. But a fun run with mutants is hella cool. The game also came out at a great time. It was based on one of the first Maddens. Still fairly arcade like. Not too different from Tecmo Bowl and the like. But it made passing doable. Seriously, find an PreMadden game that made passing enjoyable. It's not possible.

I do like the modern EA games. I haven't played modern Madden. In fact, the last one I played was 96. I remember liking that one back in the day. But I have played the modern NCAA Football series. I honestly enjoy those. But I tend to like the more simulation based games. I also like to see my Colorado Buffaloes beat the Oregon Ducks by 100 points.

I also enjoyed NFL Blitz. However, I will admit that game has not aged as well as I would've thought. I played it a few months ago and just could not get into it again.

I really enjoy NFL 2K. I did not play sports games then. But I remember being blown away by that.

Sort of video game related.

'Twas my 26th birthday today, and out of nowhere one of my friends gave me this:
Seemingly straight from japan, though the box says Megaman X instead of Rockman X (the rest of the box is japanese).

My friends and I aren't really into this gift-giving part of birthdays, so this was a nice surprise.
Also got a 20$ gift card for a music CD store, and a DVD pack of Godzilla vs SpaceGodzilla and Godzilla vs DESTROYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH.

Scorpio-profile? Frankly I never looked at this kind of stuff. So... Let's see... I've read a few profiles, but this (http://my.horoscope.com/astrology/horoscope-sign-profile-scorpio.html) is the one that's not confusing to read... with some exceptions (some of the "weaknesses" and "dislikes" are wrong.. and the "muscular" part :P), it is pretty similar to me. Funny how that works out.

You'll have to report back. I'm interested if the game is really mediocre, or just doesn't meet the expectations people have of how sonic games play in their head. A lot of reviews I've seen compare it to an incorrect and nostalgic view of Sonic games. There seems to be a perception that you should just automatically breeze through a level. The original Sonic game stopped being the speed game by the second zone. That point on, speed was not the mechanic to complete a level. Speed became the reward for knowing the level. From what I've seen of gameplay, speed is definitely the reward and not the mechanic in Lost World.

I'm also curious if the game would have been reviewed the same if it was a brand new character and not Sonic. Thus, stopping all of the expectations of how the gameplay should be.

Killzone for PS2 came in today. Slightly disappointed, the outer artwork is pretty water damaged and the disc has some scratches in it. But for $5 I guess I can't complain too much. I'll likely replace it later on down the road.

Well I only played through the first 2 worlds so far (the Windy Hill Zone and the Desert Zone). I can't give you a full review or anything, but I can tell you that I really like it so far.

The gameplay is fast (not as much as Generations, but the level design isn't fully about speed like Generations was), but it's not easy. Unless you're really good, you'll have to slow down (so kinda like how you were explaining the original game), or you can very easily die. The game clearly has lots of paths through each level, some really obvious, some a bit hidden (some I couldn't find through multiple plays through some levels), and some containing different things (some hide red rings, others have challenges for extra lives). There's a lot of exploration, but a lot of the areas have segments that really require skill to get through.

The gameplay is very different from previous Sonic games (and, despite the stupidity of many reviewers, is nothing at all like Mario Galaxy), but it does feel a lot like what you'd expect from a good Sonic game. The controls are really odd at first but playing a couple levels will get you used to it (the "hold a button to run" thing feels odd). Not a fan of the wisps though, but I hated Colors, and the Wisps were the only thing I didn't like in Generatons, so this is no surprise.

So far I'd say the negative reviews come from reviewers who didn't want to adapt to this new gameplay style, and instead decided to bash it for stupid reasons instead of giving a proper review (which makes sense considering "professional" game reviewers have long been notoriously bad at games). This seems to be like all those stupid W101 reviews where the reviewers didn't want to learn how to play so they gave up after a level or 2 and gave it a bad score for illegitimate reasons (and the video portions of these reviews kinda prove that, clearly they were unable to play the game at all).

Yeah...

So, yesterday - I decided to do some burning-up of GS gift-cards that I got for my B-Day.

Not sure if all GS' have it -but- mine is now selling (and buying, I guess) Blu-rays as well as everything else.

*Thinks that "GamePawn" is becoming more accurate than "GameStop" -but-; I digress:)*

Anywho - they were all B2G2 -and- I left w/ 4 (including a "Tales of Vesperia: The First Strike" 110 min, (2) Disc Blu-ray + DVD-Combo); that I didn't even know existed.

Also, picked up (sealed) copies of Beyond Two Souls (PS3) & "Pokemon X" (for the 3DS).

Gamestop used to sell DVDs a few years ago. I picked up a bunch of cheap horror stuff back then. Seems weird that they'd get back into that business...

Well they're PSP-specific items, so.

I guess they'll get rid of them when they toss all their PSP games in a few years.

Finally snagged the LittleBigPlanet 2 PlayStation Move bundle. I'd planned on grabbing in way back whenever, but wanted to wait til the price dropped, which it did... around Black Friday, at which point everywhere sold out of 'em because the price was slashed way down to around 30 or 40 bucks, if I recall. Managed to find one for only $49 on Amazon Marketplace the other night, so not too bad!

It looks like it was maybe an open box return or something. Game is still sealed, the controllers have all been opened, but look like they were never used even once, not so much as a single speck of dust or fingerprints, even in the grooves, and there's still that new smell that accessories have when you first get 'em.

-Justice League Task Force
-WWF Raw

After I play them, of course.  8)

I'm selling that one, its price on eBay will get me back what I spent on this lot.

I'm still waiting for Sega to lower its price on Steam so I can buy it there, pay for my legal copy, and then use it on a proper emulator. :p

I realize that you (hell, most folks here) haven't known me for long or know what I do for a living.

I'm an eBay reseller. Though I -am- a collector, I also make a living off of selling games, computer software, movies, and other things online. I typically sell common stuff but sometimes I hit the jackpot with things like these. Sometimes I keep them and sometimes I sell them, not because I want to, but because I have to. Living in Mexico while hunting for things and selling them in the US has kept my family afloat for several years. Things have been tight, but we've been able to live OK since dollars are worth quite a bit here. I don't like being a reseller, but I really have no other choice, since there's no jobs where I live in the US side of town, and I don't want to work 8 hours to get paid less than 10 dollars a day in Mexico.

I've been trying to upgrade my computer since 2010. This has been the closest I've been to being able to do so since 2011.

I have a ton of valuable DC, PS1, PS2 and PC games in my collection. I've been debating selling them off to fund the upgrades. Now that this happened, I won't have to, and I'll gladly sacrifice something I found instead of my own items that I would very much like to play through one day. I'm not selling Snatcher and Popful just because money ding ding ding! If I could, I'd keep them.

Sorry to disappoint you. But the first thing I thought of when I saw this was "FINALLY. I CAN FIX MY PC." Not profit. Just improvement.

Nice!  I scored one of those by chance when a friend of a friend asked if I'd be willing to buy it for like $50 or so.  It had the box and inserts and everything, and had a game inside of it already.  I think he threw in a complete boxed GBA copy of Super Mario, too.  Seemed like a lot of money at the time (this was in 2006), but I'm still glad I have it now.

Yup, I concur.  Of all people, Foxhack would be the sort of seller I'd want to deal with.  eBay is chockfull of sellers who just don't care about the items and are just hoping to rip someone off.  Admittedly, I've never bought anything from him, but I have a feeling he's not the sort who'd just drop a jewel case into a manila envelope and call it a day.

Yeah, I heard about the change in the Humble key thing... which means my "sell list" (which was really just a list for dupes to trade or give away later) might be pared down quite a bit in the future :(
