All of our releases are part of the official library, they're manufactured by Sony and have official product numbers. Breach & Clear is PCSE-00746. We don't have ESRB ratings because they are voluntary, and super expensive. Retailers require them - we ship direct to customers so we don't need ratings. I don't think a mother will accidentally buy her child an 'M' rated game through our site. :)
We have actual UPC codes on the back of the box. I believe we've got a picture posted to our Twitter and Facebook.

I ended up paying a little extra for that, though there wasn't any other packaging material in the box. Just the games and the soundtrack. The shipping box had one corner kinda crushed, but the contents were fine as far as I could tell.

Waited for it since they announced it but I was sick that day and forgot about it. Scott Pilgrim VS the World the game being delisted and unavailable in physical form of any kind pushed the developer of the XBox 360 emulator to make some major breakthroughs.
Now for many the only way to play the game is to get a pirated copy and play it on an emulator.

I don't think the business practices of the two are very comparable. My usual go to is how Gaijinworks/Monkey Paw does their pre-sells/pre-orders. I'm beating a dead horse at this point in stating that it's far more desirable to be able to buy into a limited edition run if I so choose rather than try in the vain hope that I beat out the feeding frenzy by being awake/available at just the right time of day and hoping I have the funds available to make the purchase. To date, I've not been able to make any of the releases because I work 2nd shift and I'm either asleep or at work when the games go live. :-\

I spaced out at 4p exactly, but I was just able to order a copy of Futuridium on both Vita and PS4 for anyone interested, including the soundtrack bundled with both. I know some people dislike that they can't just place a normal presale order, and that they just make that number to order. I don't know how production works, though, but I assume they can just order a certain number (based on agreements with the developer) and then sell those. Having too much back stock would take away capital for other future games (and loss for the business in general), though, I'd assume.
It's probably far more complicated than I can even get a handle on, tbh with you Desocietas, but I'm more than a little worried that they seem to have 'made a decision' regarding this and will continue to run with that from hereon in. They're new at this, they need to protect themselves financially, I appreciate that, but part of business is making the necessary moves to keep things going. If they've already 'stuck' on this, it will turn them from "by collectors for collectors" to "by collectors for the collectors who have time to hoop-jump or the cash to pay scalpers' ransoms", which would be a great shame. Where there's the will there's a way.

I'm not too familiar with LR Games, so can someone explain their business model? Like, I figure that they would have more copies of games available in order to make a profit but...I dunno. *shrug*
I had considered it .. but I dont care for the Vita and to me, its too expensive.
I got my B&C Deadline soundtrack bundle however.
I think the price is questionable ... but it obviously worked. It was sold out in milliseconds and there are loads of people that tried to buy it and missed so it would have sold much more.
Oddly enough Ive yet to see a single person post anywhere that they have actually gotten a bundle.
That had to be my worst 15min experience with LRG. @6 I got b&c in the cart and kept refreshing for other game. 5 mins in and nothing... until 10 mins in I finally see the add to cart. Click check out and shows the bundle as "Sold out" for the next 5 min I retry it over and over until I see the "5 left" then "3 left" and then "1 left".... so I missed it.
I had to purchase b&c separately.

Just got an email that said both PS4 and vita versions of the games this week are still available and all purchase limits have been removed. Maybe they printed too many copies this time?
The games will probably be gone after today or so. I wouldn't want to use the words "too many copies" considering how others in this thread have had issues with getting a copy of a game when it goes on sale. From what I've read, the numbers of copies printed are based on the publisher's wishes, so it sounds like the publishers were able to gauge the need pretty well so that folks could get a copy without stressing too much.

I've placed several of my orders using my phone so far. Heck, for Dragon Fantasy my wife & I were on our way to the beach. My alarm went off telling me it was about to go up, so I pulled over to the side of the road, placed the order & was on my way all in about 5 mins time. :P

Unfortunately, due to a final last minute delay on the gold foil cover we have to push our release of @VolumeGame to November 11th. The games are already en route to us from Sony so this date can be considered 100% final.
Ugh, could I just put a rant in here for a quick sec? This has been bothering me for a while, but I just really don't like LRG or their business model. I get and respect that people here are collectors and gamers and want to actually own/play these games, but the scalper scene that this whole project is creating is driving me crazy.
I just watched a mini-documentary from My Life in Gaming, and the co-founder of LRG even said that people will send him emails to cancel their orders if the game doesn't sell out in 24 hours. Then, in 36 or 48 hours when the game eventually does sell out, people will email him a second time telling him to disregard the cancel request. Now, why on earth would people do that?
It's because scalpers and re-sellers aren't interesting in investing in something that won't sell, and LRG knows that this is happening. Then these games all get posted on ebay for 3x as much as they were originally because scalpers know fully that that's the ONLY way you can buy the game after it sells out online! They're preying off what we desire as collectors: physical copies.
And it's barely about "preserving" games in physical quantities, in my opinion. In 10, 20, 30 years from now, these physical copies could become just as inaccessible as if they were never even made in the first place, because of availability and pricing.
I mean seriously, does anyone like that a GameCube component cable is worth $200? Or that Panzer Dragoon Saga is worth $800+? And keep in mind, they made 20,000 copies of PDS! It frustrates me that I'm forced to spend the money now when I don't even have the funds or a PS4, because if I don't buy it now, that's it.

A good point, but a huge reason why people want to buy these games isn't necessarily because they're fans of the games: people like physical copies of stuff, even though they don't have an interest in actually playing the game. And the allure of a rare and limited release also makes even more attractive for collectors, even if the game itself has a low following.
Firstly, LRG has specifically stated they will not print a second batch of any game they release, so they still purposefully limit availability of their titles, no matter how popular the are. Secondly, when talking to developers, LRG finances the entire project themselves, so they actually do have the ultimate say in how many copies they would like to make. But I think it's good that they're stepping up the production numbers and trying out a pre-order system.
Some examples to address to your second point:
Oddworld is not really a franchise with a low number of fans, it's a relatively popular and well known series.
They want to publish Phantasy Star Online 2, and have expressed interest in Fatal Frame V: games that also have followings and fanbases
and...
Breach & Clear was the number 1 strategy game in 40 different countries on it's original platform (iOs), and was the number 2 game in 2013 in the United States.
In addition, my issue still stands: If at any point in the future you want to own any of these game for any reason, it will be next to impossible and frustratingly expensive (as it stands right now).
What if you want to collect for the PS4? Or the Vita?
What if you hear about Octodad in a YouTube video and want to try the game out?
What if you played Shantae on the 3DS and want to check out some other games in the series?
You would completely miss out because you were late to the party :( Again, we don't like how other rare games are like that now, I'm not thrilled that LRG is making releases that play into that same situation, whether it makes sense from a business perspective or not.

If a developer wanted to make 30,000 or 40,000 copies of their game, and went to LRG about it, I daresay LRG would limit that number because they want to make a "limited run" of their products. At some point there would be a limit to how many they will make, which is the "final say" I'm referring to.If the Developer wants 30k print run, LRG would probably do it, but LRG's "contract" states that all money goes towards paying for the print run and then once it is paid for, the PROFIT is split 70/30. If they only sell 10k, but that manages to pay for the print run, the other 20k will just sit there, but LRG made their money back and nobody profited or lost money... kind of.

So I know this won't please everyone (I don't think anything will) but this is how the extra blue variants will be sold. Bear in mind that most people wanting it are completionists that want every variant and cover.
- 70% will be sold in a bundle with all three sealed cover variants. Again, most of the people who want the variant want all three covers, so this is the cleanest and easiest way to give them that wish.
- 25% will be added to the pool of standard copies and inserted into orders of those - meaning any orders of a standard copy could end up being the blue variant. If you get the blue cover and don't want it, we'll gladly accept the return and swap it for the regular cover.
- 5% will be sold in charity auctions on eBay.
The charity auction ones will likely sell for "market value" whatever that is, but your money will be going to charity, not a reseller.

Yes, that's highly likely. IIRC, I had to order 1,500 or 2,500 covers to hit their minimum so they've got a surplus on hand that will come back to us in a few months.

Then again it's no secret that I've long railed against their "service" to fans/collectors and think how they operate is bass-ackwards compared to other companies like Gaijinworks. In the latter's case I was given PLENTY of time to put in my order for all of their releases and have had ZERO issue getting them. No stressing about being awake/available at a certain time on a certain date hoping I can order fast enough to beat the rush of scalpers/flippers. It almost feels like they purposely cater to that crowd in an effort to jack up sale numbers because as their name implies "It's a limited run!" ::)
Of course I might be a little aggravated with them right now because my copy of Stealth still shows waiting on USPS pick up from the 30th. :P

I missed brech & clear and i found someone who missed saturday morning rpg so we traded.
So if I dont get a 2nd chance at any of these games im hoping to find someone to trade with.
Biggest part that sucks is strangers wrath had a special edition and they had a set you could buy to get all 3 covers.

There is now a Limited run games reward program! they are sending out rewards tickets with every game purchase by the looks of it. the rewards site is not currently up and running (goes up February 17th) but it looks like the tickets can be used for free merchandise and now for variant cover arts!

I think doing very limited releases would allow them to preserve the integrity of their business model, but still help people out that missed specific titles for one reason or another. For example, releasing an extra 1000 copies of Breach and Clear or Saturday Morning RPG is not going to make the game common or less desired by any means.

10548.88*0.62= $6540.31 (will be spent per month in rewards tickets assuming a 100% sell rate)

yeah I was just a tad late to the party (20-30 seconds after release) and because of the new system I was unable to get the CE but was able to get the base game which is good as it saved me a lot of money.
I personally like the new system, for one if the above info is correct then they eliminated the annoying issue where it errors out with stock still being shown as available. wish they would have tested it on more releases first to get the masses used to the new system.

We'll be selling our first PS4 Special Reserve variant cover for the 90s throwback FPS STRAFE sometime later this month - a different cover for STRAFE is currently available for preorder at Special Reserve's site. Their cover is limited to 2,000 copies, so act fast (only 1,000 of our cover variant will exist).

I actually asked CliffyB about this and they seemed very hesitant because the game is online only and that folks wouldn't want a physical... which I kind of agree with. But it seems they are going ahead with it. 5,000 seems like a lot of copies. I'm in for a PS4 CE though because I'll support my boy CliffyB.

This is why I have been staying away from Kickstarter in general. Throwing too much money around and the few games that have come out of it have been pretty disappointing. None of these KS games have solid QA.Any specific reason why?
I realized I was buying some of them just for collection purposes but knew I wouldn't play them. Also some of the titles have meh reviews or just are the sort of games I'm into general (roguelikes, shmups, platformers, horror, etc.).
Same thing happened with Kickstarter - threw money at everything just to realize that I didn't actually care in the end about the final product and had spent a lot of money. Happy to get that Ys Origins when it comes out. Just trying to be more discerning about what I spend money on since I already don't have room to store the items I already own :)

Well, these games are sometimes available at play asia and other places too. Solder, Wonderboy, lots of titles are available outside of LRG.There are quite a few games that could justify a second run somewhere else... but most couldn't.
But for all the other games, time will tell. But it's been almost two years now and such a thing hasn't happened.

I love Cliffy B. But I have zero interest in multi-player only FPS's. Not knocking those that love em. It looks like a great game. I just fear the servers going dark or empty and then I just have an expensive coaster.

What was with that waiting in line thing at checkout? By the time I got out of line, Wonder Boy was sold out. LRG is seriously dropping the ball with their last few releases. If Night Trap is handled this poorly, then I'll just give up on them as a publisher. They are no longer "preserving physical media" when you can't buy it.

What else would you move on to? I have to say most hobbies are going to have these sorts of issues so it isn't going to be any different. I deal with this on the automotive side too as a petrol head. Restoration parts for my old 1990 Camaro are really starting to inflate and that has put my buddy in the poor house (he has the project now).
There just isn't anything else out there that won't have these sorts of annoyances unless you bug-out and move to the country/wilderness and enjoy nature. Just watch out for bears and moose (mooses? meeses? I like meeses lol)...

This time, they were supposed to have much less Collector's Edition's of Wonder Boy than before. However, even though I had some problems with my internet connection, I was able to get a copy of the game with no problem.
Since they do not seem to be a very transparent company, it wouldn't surprise me if they actually put more copies for sale now than during the first batch.
I shouldn't be complaining since I was able to get what I wanted, but I will never stop thinking their business practices to but a complete bullshit.

I cant complain about LRG. I like their business model. Its honestly "limited" games. So many collector's/limited edition of games really arent that. They make so many that its not really a limited edition at all.
This morning (and a few other mornings) get hectic. Its sometimes 10's of 1000's of people vying for 1000's of copies of games. Not everyone is going to get a copy. Its not going to get any easier either. Night Trap, Ys Origins, Cosmic Star Heroine, and other games are coming up in the future.
One of these days I'm gonna make a list in this thread of all the LRG releases that are available from other places (like Play Asia) so people will know that at least some of LRG's product is available elsewhere

Most of these games are not that good. The only reason people buy them is because they are limited releases. Without that collector mentalit y out there, this company will tank. Limited Run Games has to keep their games exclusive to continue being a company.

If that is true then so much time and money spent in an area that isn't as important as what a few of us described earlier in this topic about their cart/payment/inventory system. A few minutes into the hour and there were still bundles available. I went the "click each one" route as I figured everyone would jump on the bundles (and looks like I was right). It took a good five minutes or more before the non-bundled CEs to sell out.
Now that the dust has settled, my poor wallet hasn't stopped crying as I didn't think I'd end up with a CE for both systems. I thought for sure that this release would be more strenuous than the one for Wonder Boy. :P

That doesn't make sense. Their order form and site doesn't say anything about that - just that they may verify your tickets against your purchases to make sure they're legit tickets. Did they specify this elsewhere? If so, I don't think that's a good place to keep that info.

Sounds like for bulk orders, best case, $4-5 per case. A bit too steep for me when if I have loose discs, they are going into DVD cases anyway. Works for replacing broken cases, almost all of mine are cracked or broken in some manner. But $4-5 a case from a company that consistently screws up orders AND knowingly under-packs items because it's cheaper... no thanks. I certainly won't be buying until I hear from other folks about how things arrive... that aside, $4-5 a case is still high and I expect that to be with ordering like 1000 cases or something to get it that low, plus they'll probably charge like $3/case shipping or something ridiculous if they do actually pack it well.

Confirmed on Twitter that it'll be $5 each in packs of 5, so good call on that one. Considering just that regular protectors for most cases cost almost $1 (not in bulk), it's not terrible, and if I were a collector of Sega CD/Saturn/PS1 long boxed games, I'd be happy to be able to replace a handful of cracked/damaged cases finally. Shipping will probably be a pain, I agree.

Absolute Drift and Chariot just went up. Still ~20% remaining as of 10:07AM. Chariot seems to be selling a little more than Absolute Drift.
Also, I FINALLY got a shipping confirmation on my Wonder Boy/Lawbreakers and Ys/Asdivine orders. I'm having some buyers remorse on Lawbreakers at this point. Aye, it is. They are similar, but Nex Machina is done by the same people as Resogun (which had some pretty badass effects of their own). That kinda of pulsing pixel thing is pretty cool looking.

Well yeah, but there are different worlds, with different level layouts n enemies. Each world has a boss fight at the end of it as well, and there are number of additional objectives that can increase or multiply your score. VA-11 HALL-A looks interesting but is a pass for me since it's Vita only. I just don't collect for the Vita, so if I decide to play it I'll be satisfied with a digital copy. But Nex Machina is a must-have, I adore Housemarque and anything they put out is an instant buy for me. Their last couple of games got physical English releases in Asia (Alienation and Matterfall) so I've been looking for one for Nex Machina. Didn't know LRG was putting it out, so that's awesome.
I just hope my Skull Girls 2nd Encore PS4/Vita games arrive before I die.

for the 1st time ever I think I'm going to pass on the "Collector's Edition" on LRG.
While I did buy Windjammers for PS4 and Vita, I just cant see paying another $35 ($70 for both) for a soundtrack and a Frisbee. This collector's edition just doesn't interest me at that price.
A sound track worth maybe $10-$15 and a $2-$5 Frisbee? (might get a rarer pink one?) lol

Overslept and missed out on the Vita release of Mecho Tales. I managed to get the regular PS4 version with 4% remaining. I passed on the Developer Edition because it felt like they were releasing the same game with a few tweaks and it screamed cash grab to me. Maybe I'm wrong but I didn't feel it justified another $40. Also, there's new releases this Friday to boot...I kind of wish they had just waited to put Mecho Tales out Friday and do the other games next week but these guys have repeatedly shown they're not capable of common sense. :P

Yes as of right now it's as it was originally intended with Vita and PS4 having separate stories. We thought about bringing the PS4 complete version out, but then Vita fans (myself included) would be upset that they didn't get a full version. I think a lot of people jumped on the "omg this game is going to be worth billions in the future" bandwagon a few years ago when LRG started. They were buying every game regardless of console and picking up max copies every time. Then LRG started making more and more games. And SRG and SLG and all the other 3 letter companies started going the same route. Which in turn made their billions of future dollars turn into 0 future dollars and they decided to hop off the bandwagon for the few of us left that actually buy games to own them.

Supergiant has been super stubborn with making their games digital only. I, for one, am glad to see that someone finally broke through that wall. I havent played any of their games but now I will get to. And since that wall is broken, its possible they will allow their whole library to be put on disk allowing the people such as myself the opportunity to own and play their games.
I ended up getting Bastion as it sounds like a cool game! It's also preorder which I prefer over the standard way LRG does things.

I couldn't disagree more. I popped this one in on a whim weekend before last and was instantly hooked. It's a rogue-like platformer with RPG elements and a touch of Bionic Commando, and it's extremely well done. In the same class as Rogue Legacy IMO. *HIGHLY* recommended!

In the description it states that it is limited to 1800 copies. Does this count the 400 copies that were part of the "Classic Edition" that included the soundtrack, meaning 1800 + 400 = 2200?
Alone With You on physical disc for the PlayStation 4. Limited to 1,800 copies available worldwide. Region free.
This Classic Edition includes the game's original soundtrack packaged in a Sega CD style retro jewel case with a printed tray insert and manual. Only 400 of these are available.
The problem is, that Classic Edition was not packaged with the soundtrack, it was sold with the soundtrack. That Classic Edition entry is why I posted into this thread. Since the game itself is the exact same, there shouldn't be an entry for "Classic Edition" because that is not an actual thing, it is the name of the package sold on their website. The soundtrack itself isn't in the DB and that entry would be changed to that and moved to the soundtrack category.
So LRG are releasing Shadowgate for PS4 which i definitely want :)

The Switch version of The House in Fata Morgana drops this week and sure enough I spied a 2nd item but HOLY CRAP was I not prepared for what it was.

You can get it from Amazon JP for cheaper than LRG or Play Asia, (esp when you factor in shipping), and you can do it when it suits your budget, since it’s not actually a limited production device, like LRG would have you believe. The games are the same, and the western release doesn’t offer any new English translations of the ROMs except for the box itself.

I actually did look this up on Amazon.jp and the savings is like $10-15. That's probably a big deal to some I'm sure but there's the worry of customs, my shipment arriving via boat/snail mail, and the reputation of the seller who I'd be completely on the dark on. I haven't played around with Amazon.jp enough but I imagine it's like ours where there's independent sellers using the service. At least with LRG I know they're capable, the product will already be on this side of the pond, and they're pretty decent at packaging stuff.

That's neat, and I understand doing a release on Genesis. I just wish there was a modern console option so I could actually play it. Wily Wars was a blast.
I would just buy a Genesis Mini. Costs about as much but you get Wily Wars plus and whole ton of other great games. Plus that's actually licensed by Sega.

My copy of Limited Run's re-release of Shantae arrived yesterday and the CR 1616 battery in the cart is dead. I suppose I'll be replacing that after work today. Rather disappointing.Replaced the save battery and now it's saving. Opening the cartridge was a little bit more of a pain than usual since for some reason the security screw bit I always use to open these old cartridges wouldn't quite fit being just ever so slightly off. Thankfully needle noes pliers can also work to remove security bit screws.

Wow, that's tantamount to incompetence. They charged a beggarly $44.99 for the game, so I'm guessing they were hoping nobody would actually open and play it. I mean, who actually does that in this day and age, right?

Well...my save file disappeared...even though the battery I replaced like five days ago is still working since it now has a new file 1 which starts me at the intro stage. Maybe the save file somehow got corrupted? Regardless, I'll just be keeping the game I waited 9 or so months for in its box where it seems it'll be destined to be in for the foreseeable future and if I ever get the urge to replay the game, I will just go with the 3DS virtual console release.
With that, I'm just going to re-focus my time finishing up Dragon Warrior VII and afterwards play something else before continuing on with playing all of the main games in the DQ series this year.
Seeing the listings on ebay for the LRG re-release of the game, I wouldn't be surprised. Coulda left my copy unopened and tried to sell the game for like $200. :P
Reading opinions in other places it seem that indeed there also problems with the shell of the cartridge that make it hard to assemble, open and just close it again.

I'm not as hard on LRG as I've been in the past and I still do buy products from them. I just wish they would drop the pretense about "preserving physical media" and just accept the fact that they cater to the collector's (and scalper's by extension) market first and foremost.
They've been releasing dozens of games that have physical versions already and they've even sold products with Steam codes in them for crying out loud.

Shipment for the standard PS4 version has begun - I got emailed about it yesterday.
I'm with you on that, 100%. I just wish I didn't have to mod my console in the event Sony were not to fix their screw up themselves. And for the record, I've modded before, but it's just inconvenient and outright not my thing.
