Hardware and Tech / Modifying a PS2

Hello everyone!
There are a lot of Japanese PS2 games that I want. Unfortunately, they are all region locked. Does anyone know how to modify a PS2 so it can read both U.S. discs and Japanese discs?

Off Topic / Stardust Crusaders

Does anyone know why it's impossible to buy copies of volumes 6 and 8 of stardust crusaders in English?

Konami made a Gurren Laggan MMORPG and decided to send out a Beta of the game in a spiral key zip drive (in the shape of the spiral key from the anime). The beta corrupted the hard drive of EVERY computer it was installed on. Konami canceled the game and sent out replacement hard drives to everyone that received the beta.

A hoarder would buy the game at a low price no matter how many copies they owned.

As would a collector who also buys, trades, and sells/resells  ;)

I see a copy of Suikoden 2 for $5...even if I had 20 of them...I'd buy it just to re-sell and/or put in the "trade material" category  ;D

My point?

It doesn't so much come down to *what* you do -but- *why* you're doing it!

In this case, if you were buying a 21st copy as a "backup" for when your other 20 copies get scratched/no longer work = it would (IMO), signify something different that buying it in the way that I stated above  8)

I knew someone was going to say that XD
You actually missed the most important point. The behavior has to be interfering with the person's life. It is a combination of both the what and why that ultimately allows a you to determine if a person is suffering from a mental disorder.
If you just look at why someone is doing something, then someone who compulsively washes their hands 3,000 times a day (there is a case study about someone like that) is merely being thorough. Also, if you've broken 20 copies of a game and are buying a working copy, that's simply replacing something that's broken.

Understand that I'm trying to condense what I've learned in 3 years into a couple of paragraphs so there are a lot of things I'm just skimming over just to get the main points across.

Let me start by saying that I'm a psychology major and my area of interest is abnormal psychology.

In short, no, you are neither obsessive nor a hoarder (based on the information you've provided). In abnormal psychology, we define a behavior as "bad" only if it interferes with a person's ability to enjoy their life. The key point is that you said you primarily have multiple copies of rare games and even then you usually only buy duplicates if you can find them on sale.

1) An obsession means you cannot stop thinking about it. Unless you spend most of your free time looking for duplicates, you're not obsessive. It's one thing to walk by a video game store when on vacation and pop in to see if there are any good deals. It's another to plan a vacation in California and ONLY go to video game stores looking for deals.
2) A hoarder is someone who does not stop collecting. In your case, if you came across a copy of a rare game that was at a good price and you already have five copies of that game, would you buy that copy? A hoarder would buy the game at a low price no matter how many copies they owned.

Hope this helps :)

Are all these games getting a U.S. release? I know some of them are but I don't think Senran Kagura Shinovi Versus is getting one.

Modern Video Games / Need Help Modding a PSP
« on: May 17, 2014, 02:05:21 pm »
Hello everyone!
I need help modding my PSP. Long story short, I bought a copy of Valkyria Chronicles 3 and I want to play it in english using a fan made english patch that's available on the internet. There are a lot of steps that I don't understand so I was hoping someone can walk me through the process and dumb down the instructions ; A ;

Here is the website for the patch.

Modern Video Games / Re: Vita Fat or Slim?

Okay, so I just wanna throw my 2 cents in.
Remember that the purpose of the new Vita is to make it much more affordable and to compete with the 3ds XL. A lot of people don't mind graphics if they can save $100. Personally, I'd rather have the old vita.

Also just to show everyone how drastic the difference is, here is a comparison of the two side by side. The top one is the old vita.http://oyster.ignimgs.com/wordpress/stg.ign.com/2013/09/vita2-2-610x748.jpg

When I was a kid, a friend of mine who was older gave me his SNES and a bunch of games. I traded all of it into gamestop after a year for like $20 because I was a stupid kid and I didn't know any better. I'm pretty sure if I were to sell all of it today I would be able to get over $300 easily. -curls up into a ball and cries-

Just to give you an idea, here are some of the games he gave me:
-one was a mario rpg game (i've seen it sell for around $50 on ebay)
-a TMNT beat 'em up
-Mario world
-kirby's dream land 3

Hello everyone!
I need some help with Persona 3 portable! normally I would look up a guide or something but I'm trying to avoid spoilers (you would be surprised how hard it is to avoid spoilers for SMT games).

Anyway, I'm doing a playthrough of the male protagonist (I'm going to do female protag once I'm done) and I was wondering if there was a way to max out all of the female social links without pissing any of the girls off? I've already maxed Yuko's link and I'm hesitant to get any of the other female social links passed 4 because I'm worried that the fact I'm dating Yuko will hinder the progress of the other social links.
