Site Feedback / Re: Developers and Publishers when Adding a Game to the Site
« on: September 03, 2017, 03:22:24 pm »
I think the dropdown works better long-term. It should reduce the amount of misspells found while also leaving a solid foundation for search by publisher/developer in the future.

If you want to learn about all the various consoles out there I'd suggest checking the video game console library website. http://www.videogameconsolelibrary.com/ There is a lot of data there including clones and variants for most systems.

As for finding stores, I usually check out this list http://nintendoage.com/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=5&threadid=53244 on Nintendo Age, some of the stores may be closed, but members tend to help update the list often, last update was 2 months ago.

Classic Video Games / Re: I heard retro game prices have peaked
« on: July 01, 2017, 10:53:11 pm »
Wish this were actually true. The items I've been watching simply keep going up. I'd love to get a complete Super System Card 3.0 for the TGCD for $150 like it used to be, but the resellers have jacked the price up to $300-400 these days.

Today I just focus on the consoles that are getting donated the most, PS2, PSP, PS3 and Wii. I can find most games on those systems for $5-10 these days, anything older than that the resellers have jacked to unreasonable prices.

There's a booth in the Volo Antique Mall in Illinois that is run by a former store owner. I'm sure it's just a mistake, but he had a copy of Spy Hunter on the Colecovision/Adam for $219.99 when I was there last weekend. He wasn't around to point out the mistake. Still though, I got a laugh out of it.

Went in cause I knew he had a couple copies of Fighting Street on Turbo CD. Last time they were $24.99, now he wants $49.99, about twice what it's worth. Most of his prices were two to three times what they were worth so I figured there might be a few items mistakenly marked below value since he clearly did not know what anything was worth. I ended up finding a CIB copy of Double Dragon on Atari 7800 for $42, and a sealed copy of I-War on Atari Jaguar for $24 while I was there. Both are in fair condition and worth about twice what he marked them. Took some pics to I could see if he had any other games marked wrong so I can go back and get some more deals. :D

Yeah, MJR video is where I saw these, he just posted a new one last week. He's up to 7000 games now, I can't keep up! lol

Most people wont keep up with Youtubers who have fans sending them stuff. He just posted the other day that someone sent him Suikoden II with guide. I mean wtf?  :o :o :o :o

Yeah, those guys get stuff sent to them ALL the time. His big box copy of Earthbound was gifted to him by some fan. I'm happy with my meager 280+ games at this time. One day I might own an entire collection, but that won't be for a long time!

I enjoy the Immortal John Hancock. His collection is insane. I'd like to have a beer with him and talk video games.

That Sealed Super C for PC is another $1000 game he got gifted to him. I don't get it, I can't even get $1 on patreon to support my site and he's getting $1000 games just for making a few videos. lol

I can't cry about Suikoden II too much, I got my copy for around $50 by piecing it together. got the manual and disc for $50, then bought case & manual for $25 and sold the manual for the same price lol.

Are you looking for a stand for these? If so you might find the stands they sell at Rose Colored Gaming to your liking. Just recently saw them on Metal Jesus Rocks gaming room tour on youtube, might get one or two of these for my room.

VGCollect for Android / Re: Sorting Wishlist On Mobile Site
« on: June 05, 2017, 09:59:51 am »
I'm not so sure I would refer to the site as 'mobile friendly'. More than half the time I click on a link from that menu and end up going to a broken link with an extra %20 slapped in somewhere. I also do not understand why I have to be logged in to sort the page, why doesn't that menu show up if I'm not logged in? This menu should be contained in an easy to use select menu(drop down) at the top of the list. I also have noticed that certain elements of the site seem to appear and disappear at will, including those 3 dots and the submit new item button.

I used to play commander whenever I had a chance but most of the time I had to supply the deck for everyone playing. I have cards from all the way back to Unlimited and people tend to frown when I start pulling Eldrazi from my graveyard using Bazaar of Baghdad and Entomb.

Finished my Xbox collection this past weekend.
Congrats!

Now put that Far Cry disc back in its case.

That's my play copy, I've got a sealed one on the shelf. :)

Thank you all for the kind words.

Video Game Database Discussion / Re: Duplicate List 2017

For the Animaniacs, I can only find release date and even the barcode for it, but no pictures. I could not find anything to say it was not released.

I've searched for it a few different times over the past 18 months and have not found any evidence that the game made it to store shelves in North America. It did come out on GameCube in the US, but as far as Xbox it was only released in Europe.

I just completed my original Xbox collection, if an NTSC version of that game exists, I can't find it.

Finished my Xbox collection this past weekend... Looking to go for complete sets on the Atari 7800, Magnavox Odyssey 2, Sega Dreamcast and PlayStation Portable next. The 7800 and Odyssey 2 will be relatively easy to get, very small libraries. Dreamcast is my next 'challenge'.

Dupe: https://vgcollect.com/item/111751
Dupe is same as original but missing the slip cover, missing pieces should not be considered a different listing imo, the slip cover would count as the 'other' check box.

The Lost Chapters version of Fable was only available as a Platinum Hits title, there was no black label on Xbox, only on PC.

Site Feedback / Re: Collection Value - Easy Method
« on: May 30, 2017, 10:58:20 am »
Using amazon to determine the value of your game is going to provide very poor results. I just recently finished off my Xbox collection and the last game I needed was on amazon for $70+ from 4 or 5 different vendors. Over the past 5 months the same game sold 5 or 6 times for around $30. I eventually got mine for $28, a far cry from $70.

I think prices have been fluctuating a lot lately and it would be hard to automate the system to reflect that.
