Video Game Database Discussion / Re: Developer/Publisher Requests

Publisher: Marcin "Whip" Łapiński

After approving your edit changes using this field selection, I've noticed that it isn't being displayed properly due to the "Ł" and " ń" characters. However, this is an issue only present for the Publisher field and not the Developer field. I don't have the ability to correct the error, so hopefully an Admin will.

After the font is corrected, will the entry update automatically, or do you need me to resubmit an edit for the Publisher field?

Dragon Scape:

https://www.vgcollect.com/item/175264 (has correct title, Dragon Scape)
https://www.vgcollect.com/item/35414 (titled incorrectly as Dragonscape, this entry has no artwork, but same publisher)

The A2600 [NA] entry for Labyrinth, https://vgcollect.com/item/102574, has the following issues:

1.) the cartridge image is for the originally discovered 1982 prototype on cassette.  Only the cassette was discovered.  No box or manual was made.  Labyrinth was ultimately released as Escape from the Mindmaster, https://vgcollect.com/item/17870

2.) the front box image is for the CD reproduction released at the Austin Gaming Expo on July 26, 2003.

A discussion of its discovery and reproduction release can be found here: https://forums.atariage.com/topic/30154-starpath-labyrinth-prototype-revealed/

The thread also provides pictures of the original discovery and the new reproduction packaging.

I would like to add that AtariProtos.com also has a picture of a Labyrinth prototype on a clear cassette which is different than the one discussed/discovered in the AtariAge thread.  Since there is no discussion on its discovery, the origin of this version is unclear.  A picture of this version can be found here, https://www.atariprotos.com/2600/software/escape/labyrinth.htm

connection reset during upload.  275530 is the complete entry.  Connection reset also caused two empty entries which are only visible in the "latest items" widget.

Need some help requesting the proper Publisher for the Atari 2600 [EU] title Tom Boy (Pit Fall) https://vgcollect.com/item/275197 (a hack of Activision's Pitfall!).  This is an exclusive [IT] title, and according to the box, the title is distributed by GRAD.DI. S.r.l., and it is manufactured in Taiwan by MAX'ER Technologies, Inc.  GRAD. DI. imported an Atari 2600 clone to Italy in 1989, called the Matra 3600, and supported it with essentially bootlegged games.  According to GRAD.DI.'s wiki on https://bootleggames.fandom.com/wiki/GRA.DI._S.r.l., they worked with two separate manufacturers, MAX'ER and Kingsway, each of which can be identified by the address printed on the box (explained in the Wiki).  In this particular case, MAX'ER is identified as the manufacturer, but, who do I request as a publisher?  GRAD.DI. S.r.l. or MAX'ER Technologies?  Atarimania identifies the publisher by just grouping MAX'ER and Kingsway together with no mention of GRAD.DI.

I failed to mention that in all cases, GRAD.DI. S.r.l. is identified as the distributor on the boxes.  However, in only certain cases is the manufacturer identified, and in most instances is inferred by the address given for GRAD.DI. as mentioned in the Wiki.  This makes me lean toward requesting GRAD.DI. as the publisher, but your input on this would be appreciated.

Seems to match to this
https://www.atarimania.com/game-atari-2600-vcs-tom-boy-pit-fall_20400.html
Which doesn't have info. What is the text on the back box scan on the item entry?

The entry in question has the following text on the bottom of the box scan:
"Prodotto in Taiwan da MAX'ER Technologies, Inc."
"Distribuito da GRAD.DI. S.r.l. - P. le Dateo 6, 20129 Milano"

But as mentioned, this is the exception, not the rule.  Other Matra 3600 game boxes just identify GRAD.DI. as the distributor with no mention of manufacturer.

Here is the ebay auction that I obtained the scans from:  https://www.ebay.it/itm/166848090576?_skw=Tom+Boy+Atari+2600&itmmeta=01JBSF791P8A50Y3JVGCN3EJDJ&hash=item26d8ebd1d0:g:YS4AAOSwu6FmgVLc&itmprp=enc%3AAQAJAAAA0HoV3kP08IDx%2BKZ9MfhVJKmHbUj39nSquh%2B80JTk8wgi5lLPSABZQ1IDZiX4MFqd%2FHddEWjYO5LrYH%2BrTtJXKaQdfMArbQEKFw%2FTpMXgq31%2FBX4N%2B5vmNwHvuETZDBT3q5N9%2Fq6X%2FUUsOmokRXHCNsM0DJr1UnMijnq6qEjppwLL3us4yz5l%2BSaUsIrHLM28S4vK1Rw6pHHjVO9xyQZzKuTU0tA5JCDf%2FV%2FtiG8--uRGcTkho2Xccef4UCb4jmZr9DrIGzdjF0MJlqKx8%2Bx5bmg%3D%7Ctkp%3ABk9SR_qQna_eZA

Activision only released two variants of Rampage for the Atari 2600 [EU] - a black and a white label.  Based on the cartridge images with white labels, the two entries for Rampage for the A2600 appear to be the same:

Entry https://www.vgcollect.com/item/64855 for River Raid A2600 [EU] has the cartridge image for the [NA] version as designated by the item number AX-020 in the image.  The combined front box image and cartridge image represents the [NA] release.  The closest [EU] counterpart that has a red Activision label is https://vgcollect.com/item/275457 with item #EAX-020, but this item has a multi-lingual box.  Lack of details in the original entry makes it difficult to identify the correct [EU] entry for which it corresponds.

https://vgcollect.com/item/243148
https://vgcollect.com/item/113292

With the exception of a sticker (that I can't read) on 243148, these two 1982 releases appear to be the same.

With regards to Pele's Soccer for the Atari 2600 [EU], https://vgcollect.com/item/66478

The release date for the title is listed as 1981, so:

The front box image is correct

The back box image appears to be the 1987 version, https://vgcollect.com/item/275173

The cartridge image appears to be the 1988 version, but I can't tell for sure.  If it is indeed the 1988 cartridge then this image should be moved, if possible, to the 1988 version entry here https://vgcollect.com/item/275175 because the 1988 cartridge is nearly impossible to find.  I do not have this image in my files, Atarimania doesn't have the image, and I can't find it anywhere.

I can edit the 1981 entry with the appropriate 1981 images, but I wanted to inform the mods of these issues prior to making the edits.

https://vgcollect.com/item/84895 - Mountain King was only released in [NA] and is a duplicate of https://vgcollect.com/item/20374

https://www.vgcollect.com/item/65963 - I submitted an updated front and back cover for the Mario Bros. Atari 2600 [EU] release, but the back cover image was rejected.  If you look close at the bottom of the current image (as well as the original front image), you will notice that it is for the Australian release https://vgcollect.com/item/273653, thus the reason was updating the image.
