Off Topic / It's been a while, guys!
« on: March 12, 2015, 08:53:30 pm »
Hi, everybody!

It's been a long while since I've been here.

Some of you may remember me mentioning "Retro Punch Gaming", and my effort to open a store front (if not, or you could care less, skip to the end  :D). Unfortunately it didn't work out the way I had hoped. My friend bailed out of the idea and sold me his portion of the inventory for pennies of what it's really worth. He felt it was too much added responsibility. Since then (about 2 years ago) I have bought a car, gotten out of my parents house, into an apartment and come April Fools Day (I know) I will finally be in a house! And all of that came from this job I have in which I get no time off... Like ever. So I haven't had time to pursue my entrepreneurial side with Retro Punch Gaming. However, I intend to run the "store" through Facebook and offer shipping  and in garage sales.  It's a hobby of mine (I'm sure it is for all of us  ;) ) to go game hunting, and  find a good deal and get it, no matter what. And then I have 20 copies of Ikari Warriors in my closet for no reason! I love gaming and I love collecting, but I really love being able to help other collectors/gamers grow their collections! So expect to see some listings popping up here https://www.facebook.com/retropunchdetroit!

Anyway, enough about me! Tell me about yourself!
I'm not just here for shameless self promotion  ;D
I will be posting more frequently now and can't wait to have more great discussions!
Good to be back!

I have a few CRT's in my garage, the problem is space. I don't have anywhere to put them, so that isn't an option. And I wouldn't buy a SCART setup just to fix a problem, just for better quality.

No luck with the VCR pass through either... I guess I'll have to deal with RF until I can afford a new TV

Test your systems composite out on a different TV to be sure it isn't your hardware that has the issue. Take it over a friends perhaps?

I can play it in the living room and anywhere else I take it.
They always work well.

Hey, guys, Im looking for a Gameboy player with disk. Don't want to spend over $50 on ebay for one though.
Is there anyone who could hook me up with one for around $25ish?
Or maybe we could work out some sort of trade?!?
I've been after one for a while and it's getting exhausting lol
Whatever is in my collection is up for trade (except consoles)
Let me know if we can make a deal!
Thanks guys!

I wouldn't pick it up to fix the problem. I don't know exactly what is with you TV, so who know what will fix it.

But the setup is expensive. It is something I am slowly working on. But, definitely keep the money toward the business. Starting up is the rough part. I remember my parents starting a store when I was a kid. It's exciting, stressful, and hard. But being your own boss is priceless.

And remember, a lot of purchases can be tax write offs. Who knows, you may want a demo unit at your booth?

Yeah, the RGB cables are definitely something I want in the long run, but the business comes first!

I really appreciate your encouragement!
I'm not really keen on how tax write offs work right now.
I remember alot of resellers coming into meijer when I used to work there and they used to buy all of our systems we had and get a tax exemption.
I most likely need some kind of license for that.
It will be a thing I look into after our first weekend at the booth, which starts tomorrow at 6AM!

Thanks alot, Sin!
I can't afford the equipment right now unfortunately.
But as soon as I can, I'm going upgrade to that setup.
That picture difference is crazy!
Lol, I guess I can't complain, after all I did get the TV for $150. But still...
I just hope when I do get it, it will work and not have the same issues...

Which cables are you using exactly? After looking at that, the way you had it plugged in is correct. May want to try a different set of cables.

I've tried various sets of cables on each system, none of them work.

Thanks for the replies!
Sin, could you link me to an SCART - RBG converter? I don't know anything about SCART.
I have a VCR player that may do the trick though.
Here is a pic, Soera:

Hey guys!
I've been having a hell of a time trying to figure this one out.
When I try to connect any cart based system via AV(NES, SNES, Genesis, you name it) to my HDTV, I get no picture or sound.
In fact, it doesn't even pick up a signal at all!
They all work through RF, but they look pretty bad.
But when I try to connect a disc based system via AV, no problems at all. Ever.
The TV has "all in one" component in's.
The in's on the TV are:
Y/Video
Pb
Pr
L
R

Yellow is in Y
White is in L
Red is in R
The other 2 are left empty.

I even bought an AV splitter to try and solve the problem.
Sega Saturn: Works
PS2: Works
NES: Nope
SNES: NO
N64: NOO
Genesis: Are you kidding me?!?!

It's a 32" Dynex from Best Buy

I've been dealing with this for a year, finally can't take it anymore!
I'd buy a new TV, but I'm not in any position to do that right now.
Can anyone help me out?
I'd really appreciate it!
Thanks, guys!

Hi, guys! Been a while! I just completed my GB, GBC, GBA Pokemon collection and am now starting in on the boxes.
I picked up the Red Version box at the CCAG convention for $3!
Didn't have the manual or the other inserts.
So, I'm looking for those inserts and every other box... lmao
Any help would be awesome, if you guys could keep an eye out on craigslist or ebay for a good deal, that'd be stellar!
Thanks!

EDIT: Also looking for a GB Micro, any color on the cheap.

Hey guys! Haven't been on here in a while, I've been working on getting a business started.
So far so good, we have some pretty killer inventory for just one week of building it.
I designed a logo and some business cards, and there is a facebook page!
Ultimately, our goal is to open a store front and keep gaming history alive and well in our area.
Planning on setting up booths at local markets and conventions and working up to that point!
I thought you guys would like to know about us, and hopefully you all can spread the word and possibly "like" our page!
We are planning to have giveaways every now and then!
We're willing to ship, and bring you guys good prices!
Thanks guys!

(I hope I posted in the right area)
