Site Feedback / Board game category
« on: November 01, 2016, 12:49:28 pm »
While I don't like the whole "Swag" thing, could we get a "Swag - Board game/cards" category? There are video game themed board games that I think is grounds enough to have it. I don't think it really belongs in "toys/novelties"

Marketplace / WTB: Croc 1 & 2 (PS1)
« on: June 17, 2016, 11:06:05 pm »
I'm looking to buy a used near mint copy of Croc and Croc 2. Black label/complete/no scratches or cracks. If you have either of them, feel free to private message me photos and a price, so we can negotiate. I have nothing for trade, sorry.

Modern Video Games / Street Fighter V
« on: June 09, 2016, 08:16:59 pm »
Does anyone here have SFV and are willing to play a couple matches? I got the game a couple days ago and have been practicing for a bit and want to fight others so that I can learn.

General / Metal Ford Solid
« on: May 04, 2016, 09:12:51 pm »
I checked to see if this thread would be more appropriate in the video showcase section but that section seems to be for people to promote their channel and post their created videos, so I'll post this here. I thought this was pretty cool and funny. Odd to see Ford make two commercials off of a Playstation 1 title.

General / Best way to buffer out PS3 scratches?
« on: April 28, 2016, 02:30:09 pm »
I recently got a game with two minor scratches but enough to bother me. Especially since it's on a game that is known to be a bit buggy. Is there any safe way to resurface a Bluray disc? No ridiculous toothpaste or banana tricks, please.

Modern Video Games / (PS3) Fallout 3: GOTY Edition question
« on: April 25, 2016, 07:56:49 pm »
I ordered a copy of Fallout 3: Game of the Year Edition on eBay for $16.50 and it comes with a holographic-like slipcover and black case (which I'm assuming is a generic PS3 case) and is complete with disc and manual. I'm having an issue finding information on this variant. It's not a greatest hits label. I asked the seller about the black case being generic and he insists that it's how he bought it at Best Buy. I just ordered a new mint PS3 clear case to swap it out-but I want to make sure the black case is not the original, so that I may swap it with an PS3 authentic case. Does anyone have any information on the GOTY edition with the holo slipcover? Here are three photos to help. I also saw a sealed copy of this edition with a normal clear case with the slipcover for $99 on eBay.

Video Game Database Discussion / Denying correct database information
« on: April 23, 2016, 01:15:24 pm »
I've had this issue a couple times now and it looks like I have to submit information at certain times of day when a certain admin is on to approve correct information. There have been times when some of my stuff gets denied and it's correct information coming directly from my personal collection. Here are some examples:

1. I edited the Metal Gear Solid: The Legacy Collection item number from "BLUS 83009L" to "BLUS-83009L" as all entries are and it was denied.
2. I personally scanned the back of the box art for MGS: TLC and uploaded it to the database and it was denied.
3. I input the correct barcode from my personal copy of MGS: TLC (NTSC) and it was denied.
4. My description for Dragon Ball Z: Raging Blast 2 was denied - all I did was go into details about first print copies and second print copy differences and that was denied.
5. I edited the page I created of Dragon Ball Z: Raging Blast 2 to change the name to Dragon Ball Z: Raging Blast 2 (First print) because my personal copy and the details were for first print.
5. The item number for DBZ:RB2 was denied even though it came directly from my copy

EDIT: After doing some looking around it seems my DBZ:RB2 entry was deleted and replaced with another entry, I'll try uploaded the data there.

General / VGC beats 100 games in 2016
« on: April 22, 2016, 06:58:39 pm »
Here's a small game/goal I thought would be interesting. I want to see if we can collectively complete at least 100 games before the year ends. Here's how it will work, I'll start it off with a game I beat about a day or two ago (can't list a game you beat if you beat it 7 days prior to this thread). You can't list a game that has already been listed here as beaten and it cannot be a phone game. Continue numbering the games (next post would be 2), so we all know who wins the race to 100. You cannot list more than two games in one post.

1. Ratchet and Clank (PS4)

General / Star Fox Zero - The Battle Begins
« on: April 20, 2016, 09:49:19 pm »
Just saw this animated Star Fox video made by Nintendo to promote the game. Thought some of you may enjoy watching it. I like it. Not sure how to embed the video here so that you don't have to go to the website to watch, I tried two types of forum codes to display videos and it didn't work.

EDIT: Fixed, thanks to Abe.

Off Topic / Video game tattoos?
« on: April 20, 2016, 01:25:19 am »
Before posting this thread I noticed there was a similar thread back in 2014, I didn't want to necro the thread because that's generally looked down upon. So, does anyone here besides me have any gaming related tattoos? If so, where and what is it from? Feel free to post photos if you have any.

Site Feedback / Videos in database?
« on: April 19, 2016, 09:47:50 pm »
Just thought I'd suggest adding YouTube videos to video games in the database. One high quality video game trailer per game. I think some people might be interested in learning about a game through a trailer no longer than 2-3 minutes than reading the small details. Either that or we could upload our own videos instead of relying on Youtube videos, so they aren't ever taken down--of course, you'd need a short style guide for this but it's just something I thought of as an option.

Site Feedback / Database (Board photos)
« on: April 18, 2016, 12:46:20 pm »
Not sure if this has been suggested before but being able to update a video game in the database (cartridge based) with a photo of the board inside would be nice. Users could use it to authenticate their cartridges and see the difference between a fake game and a real game. There are plenty of fakes around for NES, SNES, and GBA - this could be of great use to people. Even people who aren't members and happen to be looking for authentic boards through google could find use in it and possibly sign up to contribute. If need be, I could provide information on how to determine if a game is fake or not in a sticky or something to compliment the board image style guide section. I'm sure we also have a couple people here who are knowledgeable in this field.

Site Feedback / Remove doubles / Add quantity?
« on: April 17, 2016, 12:27:52 pm »
I wanted to suggest a way to remove the option of inputting an item twice in your collection to avoid people from accidentally adding doubles and just add a quantity option from 1 to 99 on each item under the notes section. I think it would make things a little cleaner looking. Quantity could also add to the collection count.

Video Game Database Discussion / Hyrule Warrior Legends item code
« on: April 16, 2016, 04:04:48 pm »
I edited the item number from "LNA-CTR-P-BZHE-USA" to "CTR-P-BZHE-USA" and it was denied. Most, if not all 3DS games do not have the "LNA" part, in fact, I tried editing one or two with the "LNA" part before the item code when I first registered here and it was denied. Now it is being denied for not putting it? The back of the box is only "CTR-P-BZHE-USA". Which is it?

Site Feedback / New genres
« on: April 16, 2016, 11:41:30 am »
More video game genres would be appreciated, such as Strategy RPG, Action/Adventure, Action-platformer, etc. Or at least add a second genre box or something to add the second genre of the game if you can't mix two generes on one option.
