Classic Video Games / Super Mario Bros. 3 - Mario Time!
« on: October 26, 2023, 06:32:49 pm »
》》》START 》》》

Super Mario Bros 3 is 35 years old and probably one of the most important games worldwide. Super Mario Bros itself is a pretty important franchise, but I think Super Mario Bros 3 goes a bit further because it is one of those games that answers the question about whether video games are only for children or not.

Frankly, I don't care, but Mario 3 is one of the few video games I have met elderly people or people who don't care much about video games who enjoyed their time playing it and bothered to get further instead of just a couple of levels.

That's impressive considering how much of a taboo or just insignificant video games are for quite a lot of people.

About the game itself. I have never beaten it but I have played it several times and it's honestly impressive everything that it has done right. Have you ever seen a documentary about the development of this game?

Shigeru Miyamoto and his team wanted to create a video game that could be the "ultimate Mario game" and even Nintendo of America invested a lot in aggressive marketing for the game, which ended with Mario Bros 3 being the best-selling game of all time, even if it wasn't long-lived.

Mario Bros 3 is a popular game and there are still interesting things to say about it. It will keep being important for the video game industry and keep inspiring new gamers and players worldwide for another 35 years.

But what are your opinions about the game? Do you love it? Do you hate it? Mario World is better? Have you watched "The Wizard"?

¤You are welcome to disagree with me.

Classic Video Games / Banjo-Kazooie turns 25 years old.

Banjo - Kazooie turned 25 since its release recently, so let's talk about it a bit.

I guess at this point in history is almost impossible to say something that is not already known about the game, the development of the game is more than documented, and daily a lot of people still remember the game fondly.

But in the end, I don't believe that's necessarily a bad thing since it shows how much of an impact the game was on both the industry and users, and these days being remembered with a smile seems harder in modern times.

I guess, what made Banjo - Kazooie so special was everything about it, it felt like a different take on Mario 64 but good enough to be its own thing and even helped to build a genre like the 3D platforms, the developers loved making it, and in general the development stories are still some of the most inspiring and cheerful from all times.

I think a good summary for Banjo - Kazooie's overwhelming success is... "It helped to build a genre but also enhanced and it showed both quality and quantity are possible in the correct hands, and that's the reason the game is still loved even 25 years later."

Happy 25th-anniversary Banjo - Kazooie!
But what about you? Do you still love the game? Do you think is overrated? Are you still waiting for another game?

* You are welcome to disagree with me.
* I would like to say the first half of this year was extremely rough so if someone else is going through a hard 2023, I send you my honest best wishes and remember to always stay strong.

The Wii U is 10 years old, but I still can remember looking forward to it, just like a bunch of people I was fascinated by the concept of Nintendo's newest console.

Did it pay off? Well, if there is something a lot of us have always been aware of is the Wii U's lukewarm success in the market, being Nintendo sometimes subtle enough to admit it.

So let's talk a bit about the console and games and if they did "well" for users.
I don't tend to write long threads but since this is one of the few consoles I lived from start to finish, let's make an exception this time.

• Functionality, services, and options.

The Wii U had quite some interesting options, some of which stuff that is not included anymore in modern hardware by Nintendo.

Some of them were useful like knowing how many hours you played a game or actual folders, and other stuff that Nintendo offered was at the very least interesting.

For example, the Wii U allowed you to video chat with other people using the Gamepad as a screen, I tried to use it but I can confirm it never worked.

Another option was using the gamepad for Google traveling and while interesting, I don't believe people loved it.

The Gamepad itself had options like a touchscreen, motion controller, and other stuff that sincerely I fail to remember games that used these functions at all.

The console had interesting features and I respect Nintendo for trying but unfortunately, I think is mostly secure to say that besides Nintendo itself and another indie company used it at all.

Regarding performance, the Wii U was quite a slow machine, taking many seconds to navigate between some menus or just turn it on, I can remember for example that even PS3 and Xbox 360 were faster machines considering both were older and unfortunately this is something Nintendo never ended fixing.

Regarding services, the brand-new Nintendo eShop was easier to navigate than the Nintendo Wii Channel but also had less charisma, of course, this last thing shouldn't care but I do.

But it was a nice store then unfortunately most of the time was mostly empty and lacking new releases.

On the bright side, Nintendo offered a better deal with the Virtual console.
A lot of stuff from the Wii one never appeared but this time we had more Nintendo 64 games, including copyright-hell ones like Donkey Kong 64 and better than ever also Nintendo DS and GBA games.
It wasn't great but it was better than Nintendo offers nowadays with their NSO subscription.

Of course, after all these services I wouldn't forget the most important one.

"Miiverse", Nintendo's social media.

Was Miiverse as bad as people make it sound?
As someone that used it a lot, I can confirm that... I don't think it was that bad, there were a lot of questionable posts but they were easy to ignore, and a bunch of people used to draw pretty well-made sketches.

The problem was... That Nintendo had problems making people respect their rules and sincerely it was quite often seeing people being made fun of just for commenting silly but inoffensive comments or just pushing the boundaries too much.

It's understandable why Nintendo preferred to save themselves the problem and besides some stuff inside some of their games, Nintendo Switch almost completely lacks any sort of social network for users.

A big shame but I still remember it with a smile as something I had the opportunity to live.

• Games

But what is a console without games?
- A Wii U (Nowadays a PS5 or Xbox Series)

Wii U had quite a limited library of third-party games and almost no one company tried to put their games on the console after it showed signs of limited success.

It had important games but most of them were almost always just worse versions of a game that was available in other cheaper or stronger hardware.
I think this is "ok", and the selection was interesting but it certainly required the user to be tolerant of the limited options and jump to test something different.

Nintendo was quite easier to work with indies at the time and supposedly an indie studio could get a Wii U development kit as cheaper as "400$" or "250$" or is prompted just "free"

Was this beneficial? Yes and No.
Yes, because quite a bunch of indies published really good games for the console, and it helped little studios to enter the video game market, but...
It also helped fill the eShop with quite a bunch of questionable products that also helped the perception of the console to be even messier.

About Nintendo itself, I can not complain.
They did a good job and I respect they tried their best to keep the console afloat while trying with everything and more to have the "NX" ready for release in 2017.

If you are curious.
"NX" was the codename for Nintendo Switch.

---------

In the end, while not completely I think the Wii U was mostly underrated, it felt like a clear Nintendo first attempt at an HD console but the first-party games and good service/options for the user base were there and are a shame most of that stuff is something that Nintendo failed to include on the Nintendo Switch and for me that enough for remembering the console with a smile.

My favorite games were Pikmin 3 and Sonic Lost World.

But that's just my opinion, did you have a Nintendo Wii U? Do You think it was underrated, or is it an overrated bad console?

You are welcome to disagree with me.

General / What's worse? A mediocre game or a bad game? - MKSR001
« on: November 06, 2022, 10:52:35 am »
》》》START》》》

The other day I found a thread talking about what is worse a mediocre game or a bad game.
Sincerely it made me put some thought about the subject for a few minutes and the answers were quite interesting.

I believe a mediocre game is worse, while a bad game is not the favorable option I feel that a game with no expectation of quality is easier to enjoy and get through if you always keep the low or null expectations in check.
Like you would have read at least once:

Quote
I have no expectations for it, so it can't disappoint me

While with a flawed or mediocre game you may potentially just keep seeing the rough edges, the wasted potential, and how some ideas could have worked better with another mindset or just more time for developing them, leading to just a more clumsy experience.
But still capable of being truly enjoyable experiences, like always everyone has their own personal expectations.

But that's just my personal opinion.
What do you think it's worse? A mediocre game or a bad game?

I hope we can have a good thread about the subject, and you are welcome to disagree with me.

The classic first-person shooter is 25 years old!

Well, honestly, I think a problem talking about classic video games like Golden Eye is there is nothing else to say that is not known at this point, except for memories and stories not necessarily related to the development, but let's give it a shot.

I am particularly fascinated with the late 90s video game development stories and Golden Eye is not the exception, there is just a bunch of stories about this game development I wish more people that are enchanted with the video game industry would learn.

For example, did you know that Shigeru Miyamoto himself thought the game was too violent and asked Rareware to include a "false" ending showing the game characters at the end playing around showing that everything in the game was fake?

It's the kind of story that this industry doesn't have anymore.

Anyway, about the game itself, I feel an unusual feeling of nostalgia for playing it, when the game starts in the dam and you start listening to the iconic soundtrack there is something that makes me smile for no reason, nowadays that's pretty important if you ask me.

Golden Eye as a game aged and its rough edges are more notable than ever but after all, it helped to build a genre and is still one of the most memorable and inspirational games I ever played.

And probably for everything that it did for the industry Golden Eye is the true definition of a masterpiece.

What are your memories with Golden Eye 007? Do you like it? Or do you think is overrated?

Note: A few weeks ago a documentary for the game named "GoldenEra" was released, it's pretty lengthy and supposedly it includes new info about the game development, it is paid content, though.

Switch is 5 years old? Time sure flies, isn't it?
I still remember the first time I saw the console and how much I wanted one but my income couldn't allow myself to get one, after 4 years in the market I could finally get a Switch Lite.

I still play with it too often and it helped a lot to make me feel love again for handheld gaming, most of the time after the job I am way too tired so just lay down in the bed and keep playing is something I am pretty thankful about.

About criticism for the console I don't have nothing else to say that we don't know already, personally I dislike the console don't have basic stuff like manually pause downloads or for example how slow is the eshop to navigate and find games.

There also the Nintendo Switch Online subscription, I don't have problems at all with the normal one but the expansion pack is something that I still feel disappointed, I believe I said this once but the day after Nintendo announced the price, I called a friend that sells videogames and told him to please send me his cheapest Nintendo64 available because it was just a way better idea have the original hardware than paying for the expansion pack.

From there, while with some clear rough edges... I believe Nintendo Switch is mostly a good console.

Some of my favorite games are.
- Super Bomberman R (Online)
- Contra Rouge Corps
- Skelattack
- GetsuFumaDen Undying Moon
- Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel
- Solomon Program
- Súper Power Pro Kun R
- Tokimeki Memorial 4 Girls Side
- Momotaro Densetsu Switch
- Team Sonic Racing
- The Legend of Zelda BOTW
- Super Mario Odyssey
- Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
- Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle
- Yooka Laylee and the impossible Lair.
- Oddworld Abe's Odyssey New n Tasty.
- Rayman Legends Definitive Edition
- MacBat 64
- Toki Remake
- Splasher
- Lode Runner Legacy
- Arcade Archives in general.

And more.
What are yours?

Happy 5th anniversary.

Classic Video Games / PlayStation Vita turns 10 years old.

Well.
PlayStation Vita it's 10 years old, sincerely I can't tell almost anything about the device because I never had one and I am almost completely uninterested on it.

I remember that 10 years ago I tried to find some for sale just to find the local stores asked some ridiculous prices for the cheaper one... so I went with a Nintendo 3DS and called it a day.

The life for Vita was quite unfortunate and a common discussion theme in Forums or similar was the failure of the console in sales and how Sony quickly cut all the support for just focusing on PS4.

Still if there something clear is that the console had a strong niche support and while sales were never spectacular in NA/Europe, the console actually used to sell an important number of copies in Japan that convinced Sony to still manufacturing it for at least a half decade.

From there I can't say much more about the Vita.

I admire the great support that it had from fans and while 3DS sold much more, Vita still has new games coming soon while that 3DS stopped receiving more a long time ago.

In the homebrew community, Vita is a good emulation device and it's pretty useful if you want to use it for play PSP games.

While limited, Vita had some success and possibly is still the favorite console for a respectable number of users.

Happy 10th anniversary.

Classic Video Games / The brief story of the Zelda 3 NES Hoax.
« on: February 19, 2022, 10:56:41 pm »
|Start》》》|

Nowadays the sole concept of making up stories about false videogames and such is completely pointless, of course because we have the tools and information for quickly verify if something is fake or not, but 20 years ago it wasn't that easy, so stuff like someone finding "the mysterious prototype from this classic game" was more believable, so let's remember this time the brief story of the fake Zelda 3 prototype.

If you are wondering why I said brief is because the story and what actually happened is not as clear as it used to be because at least 3 of the most important pages that talked about the subject are now extinct, possibly because the owners either deleted or stopped paying the domains but searching for information in other places...

Note: Wayback machine was used but I didn't found what I was looking for.

The story started when a gaming website named "Joystiq" posted an article about the recent auction of a mysterious cartridge labeled as "Zelda 3 The Triforce Saga" on Ebay.

While there were some doubts about if this was legitimate, the seller identified as "Richard Vialoux" tried to push the idea it was real posting photos for the labels of the prototype showing information like the year of production and version, of course this was easy to fake but the detail that started some expectations was a photoshopped pic of a NES playing the cartridge and a screen showing the title screen with the name of "The Legend of Zelda The Triforce Saga".

Against all odds, the auction for the game ended with a generous amount of almost 3000$ and supposedly ended in hands of an user under the name of "Knight7".

This story could have ended in this point, but the seller "Richard Vialoux" for some reason bothered to inform the "Joystiq" website that he strongly believed that the buyer would be part of the long defunct game developer "Sillicon Knights", this information while vague was included as a part of the article talking about the outcome.

While most gaming companies could've just ignored a random mention in a subject like this, Sillicon Knights actually contacted Joysticq clarifying that "Knight7" was not part of the company and asked politely to correct the article talking about their involvement with the subject.

This is where this story ends.

I believe is important mentioning that while searching information and reading old comments is clear the skepticism was high and most people never bought the story.

What happened with Richard Vialoux, this fake cartridge and Knight7 is still a mystery to this day.

-

I hope you enjoyed reading this story, personally I have always been fascinated by stories about videogames and from the 90s and 2000s.

I also want to take this moment for say that I am always thankful for the people that always brother to comment and I apologize if I don't always reply.

Thank you for reading.

I have been collecting a lot of Nintendo64 games recently because after seeing Nintendo plans for the console on Switch it just felt a better idea get the original hardware and start collecting for it.

Since I wanted to read experiences from people that are passionate about the console I found a thread that mentioned RareWare published 11 games for the console so I wanted to post it here too if members of the forum could like to share their thoughts or experiences playing these games, of course if you want to talk about just one or you actually don't like some of these games is also fine.

- The 11 games from RareWare for the console are:

- Banjo - Kazooie
- Banjo - Tooie
- Blast Corps
- Conker Bad Fur Day
- Diddy Kong Racing
- Donkey Kong 64
- GoldenEye 007
- Jet Force Gemini
- Killer Instinct Gold
- Mickey Speedway USA
- Perfect Dark

These are my personal thoughts, I won't write a lot, though.

- Banjo - Kazooie [Worthwhile]

Well, it helped shaping a genre, and sincerely it never fails feeling memorable, not much too say, it's just one of these universally acclaimed games that everyone have talked a lot about it.

- Banjo - Tooie - [Worthwhile]

I don't think Banjo - Tooie is forgotten but most merits seems to always fall into the original game, a shame because Banjo - Tooie is also terrific and I am specially fond for It trying to expand everything that made the original so great, also I love they put a FPS level that makes a great job feeling like a more friendly version of GoldenEye.

- Blast Corps - [Not played it yet]

I got a copy not long ago but I just tested it it worked, still I have always notice a lot of people having fond memories of it, and sincerely the concept itself still feels fairly creative and unique even nowadays.

- Conker Bad Fur Day - [Mixed opinions]

It's a fine game, but I don't think is amazing, and sincerely most of it felt like an endurance patience test, still is Worthwhile beating it at least once but... eh maybe we will talk more about it someday.

- Diddy Kong Racing - [Worthwhile]

One of the most cheerful games I ever played, I feel specially attached to the "Select your character" screen and the overall feeling, it's just one of these games that is useful for put and play if you are feeling down and need to talk with yourself, it's a terrific game.

- Donkey Kong 64 - [Not played it yet]

Bought it alongside the expansion pak because someone offered a really good price for both, but once again I just tested it worked, the only comment I will leave for now is that it clearly feels like Banjo - Kazooie with a Donkey Kong skin and it has a pretty interesting development story.

- GoldenEye 007 - [Worthwhile]

Classic between classics and helped shaping a genre, sincerely I don't think there much to say about it, it's still memorable and is always fun to just start it again.

- Jet Force Gemini - [Not played it yet]

I have no idea why I never played this one, when I used to read Nintendo Magazines they talked like 4 times mentioning how great it was and Banjo - Tooie that I loved had cameos for the game, I assume something happened...? Anyway at the time I wrote this I ordered a copy so I will find out soon if I missed a great experience.

- Killer Instinct Gold - [Worthwhile]

Yeah, I love this game, it's frenetic, it's fast and is 90s coolness at his best, sincerely the perfect balance between style and substance.

- Mickey Speedway USA - [Mixed opinions]

Mickey Speedway USA is a fine game and curiously it was made using the Diddy Kong Racing engine, but... well, the truth is that I can't stop feeling the game is a duller version of Diddy Kong Racing, for example the circuits have nothing interesting at all besides being filled with speed booster and while I assume is fault of the cartridge limitations, I am not fan of seeing the circuits failing to include any reference to the Disney World, it feels weird and make a good job making the game looks more generic, anyway, the game is still decent and enjoyable but clear your expectations before playing it.

- Perfect Dark - [Worthwhile]

I can't stop thinking Perfect Dark is arguably a mess that had way too much luck the game ended being actually a truly great experience that sold millions of copies and had an universally acclaim, I won't go deeper but the development story for the game certainly revealed the original plans were too different and the conflicts around it are some of the reasons Rare ended losing important figures in the industry that helped creating some of their more acclaimed games, but hey that's a story for another day.

The game itself is remarkable and is a great experience full of content and memorable moments.

Though... I want to mention I completely forgot how messy the original frame rate was, I had no memory the game ran at 15fps per second...

-

These are my personal thoughts, while I have some issues with some of these games or I never played a bunch I believe they clearly had talent and passion behind the curtains, and hopefully they will inspire more people that play them in the future.

What do you think about the 11 tales of Rareware for the Nintendo64?

Classic Video Games / Nintendo Wii 15th anniversary

I'll be sincere with you, I don't remember at all or I know the development story for the Nintendo Wii, I remember a few stories but I couldn't mention something that I believe actually happened.

I still remember when Wii was announced as the Nintendo Revolution, and how it actually managed to impress the public with the motion control gimmick.

Wii was designed with the focus on allowing users from all ages and skills to start playing video games and while arguably I believe it made a good job at first helping people to be introduced to just enjoy video games even if it could be just for playing sometimes or strictly with someone else.

Personally while I think it deserved better, I always enjoyed the console and I have fond memories playing Super Smash Bros Brawl for the first time, reading countless times a review for Elebits that seemed like just something else or playing for hours for just going on a stroll and buy more games for the console.

Some of my favorite games are:

- Sonic Unleashed
- Sonic and Secret Rings
- Sonic and the Black Knight
- Sonic Colors
- Elebits
- Dewy Adventure
- Lost in Blue
- Target Terror
- Contra Rebirth
- Castlevania Rebirth
- Gradius Rebirth
- Frogger Returns
- Mario Kart Wii
- Rayman Raving Rabbids
- Rabbids Go Home
- Epic Mickey
- Rayman Origins
- Super Mario Galaxy
And much more I can't remember right now.

Like all consoles Wii had flaws, and the library games actually had quite a lot of junk, but at the end it's a console I have nostalgic memories and I still enjoy playing nowadays, discovering games I never played at the time or just coming back to some of my personal favorites.

Happy 15th anniversary Nintendo Wii.

PlayStation 3 is the last console that I believe had an interesting development story, and I think it's more impressive considering the last years of the console are documented.

It's PS3 a good console? I consider a flawed console at times but overall I still think it was mostly good, the console menu is iconic and playing with it makes me feel nostalgic.

I actually have really good memories of playing FarCry3 and 4 for hours after a hard day at the job, and I still have a really good memory of skipping a rainy class day and stay home for play Silent Hill.

If you're curious about what were some of the reasons PS3 failed to conquest the market at first, I recommend once again one of these lengthy but interesting documentaries from YouTube.

And with that being said, some of my favorite games for the console...

From Konami, I truly loved their games for the console and I can recall great games like Castlevania Lords of Shadows, Hard Corps Uprising and Rocket Knight.

While it's a controversial game I have always liked Silent Hill Homecoming and I think Downpour deserved more merits.
There also some little cool games like Rush'n Attack Ex-Patriot or Frogger Returns.

Another of my favorite games are stuff like Sonic Generations or Sonic Unleashed that's actually a game that I have always loved since 2008.

And of course other classics , like Bayonetta, Anarchy Reigns, Catherine, Red Dead Redemption, GTA lV and much more.

Happy 15th anniversary, Playstation3.
Your legacy while had some missteps, it's something's I can respect and remember with a smile.

Note: I think is worth mentioning PS3 is somehow a really good PSX machine and if you have your PS3 with a soft mode, it's maybe the ultimate PSX machine out there.

PlayStation5 turns 1 year old.
I'll be sincere, I still have my doubts with the console and I am still waiting for the eventually Slim model that most possibly is under-development right now.

But like always I am mostly optimistic that things will get better in the future, about the console instead I don't have much opinions, I think is too big but at the same time I actually like the design if it weren't because the plates looks fragile, I am also hoping Sony is reading the feedback and taking notes for a future redesign.

About games, the console right now has interesting stuff that I hope users are enjoying and I hope it will pay off eventually with more interesting content.

Happy 1st anniversary PS5.
Hopefully it will keep getting better and better.

Modern Video Games / Metroid Dread - [Thread]
« on: October 06, 2021, 02:06:43 am »
I am not feeling I need to explain the behind scenes for Metroid Dread development but the quick summary is that it was originally a Metroid game for MDS that was canned twice because Nintendo weren't happy with the results.

This thread is for talk about everything you want to talk about the game.

About my personal expectations or hopes for the game...
I don't tend to buy physical games day one but this time I want to make the exception just because it feels unreal that Nintendo actually revived a 13+ years old cancelled game, and pretty much that's it, the game looks good so far and I always had a thing for games with invincible enemies that you need to outrun if you want to survive.

I certainly hope the soundtrack will make a good job feeling well, a feeling of "Dread".

》KonamiCode+Start》》|

I wasn't planning to get a Nintendo Switch anytime soon but after the announce of GetsuFumaDen Undying Moon and Metroid Dread, I certainly felt pretty inspired to try again after the failure of the last year getting one and because the Lite model has became pretty cheap right now in my country.

So, after 2 months, I can say something about it? The short story is that I like the console more than I thought I could.

The console just make a pretty good job remember me the good old times when I used to play with the Gameboy Color or Nintendo DS/3DS at times, and since I spend way too much time working... it's pretty useful just take the console and boot it up for just a tad of fun when there nothing else to do at the job.

About the console design... I think is good, at least the plastic for the console feels like hard to scratch and it's certainly something I loved after Nintendo three last consoles were actually way too easy to damage the shell. (Wii, Wii U, N3DS)

The performance for the console is fine... I guess, it's obviously the console can't run some heavy names and the only solution is these annoying "Cloud versions" but... eh... I like the concept of a weaker console being about gameplay instead of graphics... I can also being easy on it because the more of 80 games I have played on the console almost no one takes a lot to load and just start playing.

The handheld mode is 7/10.
A lot of games looks fine but some games just look way too blurry... fortunately the solution for these games is something I believe I read is named call "Adaptive resolution", and pretty much is that depending of the part of the game you are playing, the game automatically prioritize between resolution or performance and I can.... respect that, it could be worse if the game looked blurry all the time, I guess.

The online is something I don't care too much, the Classic games are fine but the library is way too limited and I don't mind at all because a friend invited to join a family group for just 5$ the year. (Family is also the one you die for...)

And at last, the library of games?
While it's obvious the Switch is missing some big names in the industry, I can forgive it for the sole purpose that the digital stote just has tons of games available, just enter the eShop and you may find up to 5000 games.

Of course not all these games are good or outlandish, but new sales all weeks and the golden coins system is... just pretty useful for open the eShop, buy something random for a few bucks and burn a couple hours.

The exclusives are fine I guess... at the very least I can say that... games that Cruis'n Blast or Burger Time Party are stuff that while are obviously games with a smaller budget... it's still stuff I am interesed and make me feel a somehow nostalgia I haven't feel in a long time...

Anyway, while Nintendo Switch is another example of a console that still need some stuff to iron out and some interesting features from past  were removed for no reason, I truly like the console and playing it remember me a lot of when I used to just play for hours while drinking something and just ignoring stuff I didn't care for... something that nowadays... I appreciate a lot.

But that's just my point of view.
What are your thoughts for Nintendo Switch?
Do you like it? you don't?
It's a console you enjoy or you just bought it for a couple games?

Any of those seem honestly valid to me.

- See ya next adventure -

Classic Video Games / Nintendo Gamecube turned 20 years old recently.

Did you know that the reason a bunch of users around the internet use the term "GCN" for the Nintendo Gamecube instead of just "GC" is fault of a lot of magazines that used it at the time? It's something I have never been able to forget it, and sincerely... I don't like just calling it "GC".

Anyway, Nintendo Gamecube turned 20 years old recently and I didn't wrote a thread because I was way too busy and sick...

Again, anyway, I just wanted to remind everyone of a console I personally have way too much nostalgia and good memories.

Most of the time I don't like to mention details about the development for the consoles I use to mention, but this time I will make an exception and sincerely I have always loved some stories at the time...

Stuff like Microsoft trying to buy Nintendo just to get laughed at, people thinking the console was a toy because the lack of multimedia and the design, and even little stuff like the console itself having a chip with a printed dolphin on it... it's stuff I just loved and for some reason I have never been able to feel at all with modern or current gaming.

My favorites games?

Well.
Most Nintendo stuff like always, Luigi Mansion, Smash Melee, Pikmin, Star Fox Assault... and some oddities like Eternal Darkness or Geist.

And for thirds parties.
You know the drill.
Just love for Konami and Sonic games.

Playing countless times Sonic Adventure 1 + 2, Riders or Heroes.

And some Konami games that I just thought were great like Frogger Beyond, TMNT 2 Battle Nexus, Crocket! 3D and more.

I also loved some platforming games, Pitfall The Lost Expedition, Pac-Man World 3, Spyro, Crash and more.

And there more stuff I just think deserve a cheer up... Judge Dreed, Tony Hawk, SSX, Ikaruga, Need for Speed, Viewtiful Joe, Dragon Lair 3D and just more stuff.

Nintendo Gamecube may lost the battle against the Xbox and PS2, but still I consider it a memorable console that had a pretty good library of games that even nowadays people still enjoying.

- See you next mission.
