Modern Video Games / TMNT: Shredder's Revenge and Cowabunga Collection
« on: April 22, 2022, 05:01:39 pm »
Figured I'd make a catch-all thread for this since it seems a bunch of us are excited for it, but we're discussing it like 5 different places.

Newest news:

A Collector's Edition of Cowabunga Collection is now up for pre-order and it will include:

• Physical copy of the game with original box design by Kevin Eastman
• Cloth poster featuring Kevin Eastman’s adaptation of TMNT: Turtles in Time (16” by 24”)
• Multi-layer acrylic diorama of Leonardo, Donatello, Raphael and Michelangelo (4.5” by 5”)
• Enamel pin set of five classic designs – The Technodrome, Turtle Blimp, Party Wagon, Shredder and Krang
• Set of 12 translucent comic style character trading cards based on TMNT: Tournament Fighters with rarely seen appearances from Wingnut, Armaggon, Chrome Dome, War, Aska, Karai and more (3” by 5”)
• Full color artbook with 180 pages featuring a chapter dedicated to each of the 13 games in the compilation (5.5” by 8”)

For Shredder's Revenge

The original voice cast for the turtles will be returning to voice the game.

And release date of... SUMMER

Classic Video Games / GOG Getting Several Classic Star Trek Games

Elite Force rules, and I can't wait until Armada comes out - I couldn't get my discs to play quite right a year or so ago.

There have been lots of Trek games over the years, but they have only been sporadically available on modern PCs.  Hopefully this leads to a few more releases.

Video Game Database Discussion / Digital Games in Physical Cases
« on: January 17, 2021, 11:34:16 am »
This may have been discussed before, but I couldn't find anything about it in the style guide, etc.

Right now, when there is a physical release of a product that does not include a physical of the game it is getting listed in the main physical section for that game.  The main example I have right now is the Fire Emblem 30th Anniversary Box Set.  It's big and cool as hell, but only comes with a game code.  So my question is - does this truly belong in Switch (NA) category, or should it be in the eShop one?  Or even a bigger curveball, should it be in Swag or Accessories?  It's a 99% physical product, but if we treat it like we do games that come with accessories, maybe it should be in Digital, since that's what the primary product (the game code) is.

I think arguments could be made for each of these, but I wanted to see what everyone else thought.

General / Amazon Luna Game Streaming Service

$5.99 a month.  Over 100 games a launch.  Alexa enabled / compatible controller.  Twitch integration.

And reports that they bought SEGA - but I can't confirm that anywhere. EDIT: Looks like the tweets I saw about it are gone.

So, I thought there was already one of these, but I couldn't find it.

With the release of the final major patch (details here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NABeP5oGygM) I am finally look at getting back into this game after only spending a little bit of time with it in the beginning.

The last patch has added a ton of interesting content, including World Maker!  I'm hoping to play some great new levels, as well as to actually finally make some with the new engine.

Video Game Database Discussion / Separate Steelbooks
« on: February 04, 2020, 07:25:59 am »
How should we handle steelbook editions where the Steelbook originally came separately, like through Best Buy?

Should the Steelbook get its own entry?  What if the game is now housed in the steelbook and the doesn't have original case?  A steelbook entry for the game?

I'm asking specifically for Mass Effect Andromeda, which does not have a steelbook entry in PS4.

Maybe I’m just not seeing it, but is there a way to see if submitted edits have been approved or rejected on the mobile site?

Off Topic / Do You Play Other Table Top or Card Games?
« on: November 12, 2019, 10:38:11 pm »
Magic: The Gathering?
D&D?
Cards Against Humanity?
LARP?

I used to run a D&D campaign, but my group kind of drifted and moved away.

I was also deep into a Commander League for Magic, but the ship closed down.

I’ve ordered the corebook for the newest Star Trek RPG and hope to get a playgroup started up with that for the beginning of next year.

Feel free discuss whatever you want here.  I am curious how many people host or join other games, how often, what kind of tools you use.

Video Game Deals, Sales and Promotions / Humble RPG Bundle
« on: September 04, 2019, 06:54:18 am »
The $1 level gets you

HIVESWAP: Act 1
Immortal Planet
Deep Sky Derelicts

Paying more than the average (which is $4.15 right now) is
Tyranny
Cat Quest

and the game that truly makes this bundle worth it
Pillars of Eternity

$15 or more also adds
Borderlands Game of the Year Edition

This is regularly like $5, which is probably why the average remains so low.  Seems like a really bad choice for the top tier in RPG month.
