Modern Video Games / Xbox 360, PS3, or Wii?
« on: April 10, 2015, 10:58:15 am »
Now that effective this year Last generation will fall in the ocean, which of the systems did you like the most? It was the longest generation of all time, and there were tons of the good and the bad.

This is a very good time to discuss this as the last generation will be done soon. Wii has been dead for a time, PS3 was announced by Sony last year to end in 2015, and Microsoft said 2016, however with the latter, the 360 is already severely down so that extra bit of time will be marginal at best.

Some big games for each system-

Xbox 360:
Halo
Gears of War
Forza
Alan Wake
Akai Katana
Kinect SPorts
Kinect Adventure
Banjo Nut and Bolts
Nintey Nine Nights
Lost Odyssey
Fable
Forza Horizon
Project Gotham 3-4
Steel Battalion
Splinter Cell Conviction
Mass Effect 1
Saints Row 1

Playstation 3:
Uncharted
Killzone
Final Fantasy X/-X-2 remake
Haze
LBP
Disgaea 3-4
Demon Souls
God of War 3
MGSIV
Gran Tourismo
Heavy Rain/Beyond

Wii:
Wii Sports/Resort
Wii Fit
Super Mario Galaxy
Twilight Princess
Let's Tap
Madworld
Red Steel
Conduit
NiGHTS 2
Carnival Games
Xenoblade
Super Smash Bros.
The Last Story
Kirby Retrun/Epic Yarn
Metroid Other M

These are two underrated consoles bringing tons of great games (the former explaining the console gaming audience) and both for better or worse, changed the source of the companies behind them.

But which was better?

General / Will Amiibo beat Spyro Skylanders/DInfinity first year?
« on: January 30, 2015, 12:30:44 pm »
Nintendo released that 5.7 million Amiibos sold, which I'm assuming is to consumers. That's actually not really..Good when you look at it a certain way but this was the holiday season and it did come out within that time so the real question is if there is momentum. It does show however, that people are buying them outside of the WiiU/3DS market (excluding scalps) so I mean it won't do much to cover any financial holes but it shows that the market will expand a bit beyond the Nintendo ecosystem which COULD make Amiibos more of a player.

For comparison, Skylanders did 15 million in the holiday season as a new IP (well technically it was a Spyro game before it became a new Ip but ehh)

Infinity did 7 million or so in the first holiday season.

So the actual question is will it be able to beat Skylanders or/ad Disney infinity's first year?

Well looks look at the data we have.

Amiibo came out in November 21st and sold 5.7 million as of a few days ago. That will track technically as 3 months of sales, but of course we will say 2 months.

Amiibo has slowed down since than obviously, but i think it's possible to be around 6.5 million at start of march. If we keep a flat rate of 500,000 a month until November 1st, which is pretty optimistic, Amiibo could be at 10.2 million. I don't expect another big holiday rush but still good so 13.5 million by end of 2015.

Disney Infinity around feb sold 3 million starter packs, so that's 9 million figures alone. Throw in an estimate for other figures and I see around 12 million, as sales did slow and 2.0 was released in the holiday season, but that doesn't really matter since the 1st year ended in august, so I would think maybe at least another 500k starter packs, which would put it at 13.5 million, at other figures being sold at the time I can see 15 million in the first year. 17 being the highest since we don't know how many starter packs have really been since the 3 million announcement, but we do know sales slowed.

Skylanders sold 20 million in only 3 months so first year would probably be 40-45 million give or take.

I think Amiibo may have a chance against Infinity for the first year. Though it will have to remain at least around and frequently above 500k a month. Unless they actually double/sell 1 million the last holiday season.

Modern Video Games / Microsoft got Tomb Raider exclusivity at Gamecom
« on: August 12, 2014, 09:49:08 am »
http://kotaku.com/the-next-tomb-raider-is-an-xbox-exclusive-1620022328

Now correct me I am wrong but didn't square say something about the game selling miserable and being a failure at 3 million sold in a relatively short amount of time?

I assume Microsoft most have covered enough of TR rise that Square won't have to worry about that anymore But this is huge. Just saw this on the Gamecom that just ended.

General / Official E3 Thread #1: Microsoft E3 conference!
« on: June 09, 2014, 10:20:46 am »
WELCOME ( 5 minutes until live)

New stream link: http://www.xbox.com/en-US/e3/live-event/desktop#fbid=lB_4bEFqg50

To the first part of a 3 thread series for E3 for Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo, because no one really cares about any of the other conferences (in relative terms) so let's get started!

Microsoft E3 has been the most anticipated for awhile. Why? Because they have basically transformed the Xbox One and those who represent it into something completely different from what it was last E3 and the Reveal! All the DRM gone, some people won't forgive, but a lot will! New management! A new vision! Less division leaders telling you to buy a 360 and you are not important!

GAMES:

The Xbox Show will be all about games, although I expect we will probably get some updated sales numbers and inflation spins to make them look more impressive than they actually are.

We already know that they will show:

1. Halo
2. Forza
3. Sunset Overdrive
4. Fable
5. QuantumBreak

However

There have been rumors of multiple "new experiences" as well as rumors of Halo Collections, and new update to KI, and a slugfest full of new indie games!

"A hur hur"

Phil Spencer is expected to be the star of the show. A lot of people have complimented him (almost solely which really is not right when you think about it, but he does get some credit) for completely turning Xbox around from whatever the old leading reps were turning it into. Most of them have been removed.

But there may be a bit too much hope on this man, he has promised many new games and experiences and it has gotten people to be jumping on his hype train. But should you be as excited? I would say let's hope for just a great E3 instead of some kinf of biblical mirror eh? Also Yusef Medhi will be there but most people associate him with mattrick and don't like him.

Streams:

Here are the streams to the E3 conference:

1. http://www.xbox.com/en-US/e3/live-event/desktop#fbid=lB_4bEFqg50
2. http://www.gametrailers.com/e3

Please note the Xbox Stream is optimized for mobile, however will not work with any browser below Iphone 4, will not work with Windows Phone 7 (outside of the later phones) but will work on 8, and will not work on any android phone below Ice Cream Sandwich, or uses an outdated cover over Ice Cream Sandwich (most Xperia, Acer, Dell, and LG phones for example) anything else will work. Don't even think of using Froyo. I'm watching you!

REAL-TIME EVENTS:

In the reserve post below, I will be posting the announcements mentioned in the conference in real time, which will help those who are not actually watching, don't have time to watch, or who does not have a device that is capable of streaming this event, in 2014. Cavemen.  8)
________
Thank you everyone and have a wonderful E3 Experience! Sony thread will go up at 5-7 (EST), Nintendo Thread will be up tomorrow. Also to change my avatar for each thread.

Off Topic / CVS Hospital Donation Drive
« on: May 28, 2014, 01:18:29 pm »
Recently, I have been selling a few of you games or/and systems and other people outside the site as well. This money has been sent to help out local hospitals in the area (Virginia) by providing funds for medical supplies, food, employment, maintenance and more.  For all the members who had purchased items on this site, I highly appreciate it.

For example. the one who brought the Pokemon XD, you were actually the first of donations (from this site), as shown in the picture below (If you would like to reveal yourself post in the thread):

Our goal is to reach $1000 or more. However we have been struggling to reach even half of that, so I made this thread just incase anyone would care to donate what they can. I think reaching $500 would probably be a more realistic goal for current times since people don't have as much money to give as they had in the past.

For those who want to donate, you can do so by buying the games and/or consoles for sale in the marketplace, or to send a paypal gift to Anthony.Brumfield@aol.com.

Any donation is appreciated from $1 to $5 to $100,000. Ok maybe that last one won't happen.  8)

Classic Video Games / unknown video game facts #1
« on: May 27, 2014, 09:46:28 pm »
Did you know that Coleco is still around? After a small recovery in 2004 from refusing to see Cabbage patch was not the next barbie, they worked with sega to bring the coleco sonic. A sega emulation handheld with tons of sega classics. They mostly make pho.e games now though.

Rumor has it that they are planning to make a new console. But judging from word of them putting there current line up on it, it may sadly be only an android console. One can only hope.

General / Predictions r us: Who will win E3?
« on: May 27, 2014, 06:48:04 pm »
E3 is... Like end of next week. Potentially, this can be the worst or best E3 for years.

We got Sony most likely making up for all these game delays.

We have Microsoft promising even more games than last E3 without anything negative overthrowing them.

Then we have Nintendo trying to keep wii u a float along with iwata panicking and wanting to change the company to be the next Bally.

Its anybody's game! Who do you think will win?

Classic Video Games / Any Jaguar collectors?
« on: May 26, 2014, 09:00:07 pm »
Wondering if there were any Jaguar collectors here. Its a pretty good system, and outside the cd games im missing 3 to get all the games.

Damn shame after tons of years a working emulator still does not exist, or homebrewers still can figure out how to get the 3d processors to use full memory.

The CD games are insanely pricey though. Iron Soldier 2 was $500 for a good copy last I checked.

General / Can someone explain the post-death SEGA obsession?
« on: May 26, 2014, 05:56:18 pm »
console wise. People who did not care about sega, people who avoided the Saturn/dc, etc, every year since 7th gen started segas consoles get growing praise, credit they dont deserve, and some of the bad or lessor games are now must have expensive gems. Sega also has the second largest homebrew community thats rapidly growing. I can see guilt as a reason for some people, but what about the rest?

With that said, I have nothing against SEGA so dont read this with that mindset. Just not sure why no one has similar reactions to other game companies. Just so much rose tinted praise seems strange to me.

I thought of this thread among recent news of the possibility that the later blitz games were one of the biggest hits to middays financial stability. If you remember, in the original few blitz games, nfl offered the license, but midway refused. In the end, after being forced to use fake teams for years, the same hit series came and helped with their death.

It did not help things when nfl street came out. I swear ea just brought those out to kill the competition then ditch the series. Hell, they did it with skate.
