6.5 is certainly below average for a $60 AAA game

6.5 is not a bad score.
Yes, yes it is.

Man three months worth of stuff and so few things I’m interested in.

Days Gone, I guess.
You thinking of actually bumping that ol' "collection" number from 22 to 23?
You know I'd like to man but as you can see from that list of Feb, March, Apr releases - how can I feel any excitement about doing that?

Same, the options for new releases are usually very slim pickings  :(

I read in the news today that Samsung will no longer make blu ray players and have scrapped plans to make 4K blu ray players.

If you just google ‘blu ray’ and go to the news tab there’s several stories on it and the ties to the end of physical media.

The end of new physical media, perhaps... But that is just Samsung, they license the Bluray technology. When Sony stops making BD players, then you can worry. But even so, no one makes VCRs anymore and that didn't mean the end of VHS.
Bruh Sony didn't even put a 4K blu ray player in their console.

What game would you treat yourself to or ask for this year?

The options are most likely February/March releases or a pre-order for an April release.

Off Topic / Re: Worst eBay experience
« on: February 20, 2019, 01:22:16 pm »
I haven’t had much bother as a buyer. The couple times I had, eBay would refund me or the seller would kick me back a little money for the misleading condition description.

As a seller though it sucked so bad I didn’t bother after the first time.

I sold Harvest Moon for Nintendo Switch on eBay and was like ‘hey thanks for your payment, I’ll put it in the post tomorrow’ and the guy replies something like ‘good and I want it special delivery bubble wrapped for that postage’. My auction clearly had it as standard second class postage. I did charge a couple pound because I wasn’t sure how much it would be. If they didn’t like it they could have factored it in to bid less. It was all very bullshit.

That’s the way all entertainment (music, movies, games) is going.

Are you on board?

I think as much as people dig their feet in they will cave eventually.

Things change whether you want them to or not. You can’t buy physical PC games anymore and the few you can just contain a code to a digital download on Steam.

What are you going to do, just never consume any new media?

PS Now and XB Game Pass are already testing the waters and normalising it to consumers.

Physical media will look eccentric and archiac in our lifetime.

All these blu ray cases we have now will be kinda like going to an old person’s house and seeing VHS and cassettes everywhere.

When little Tommy age 13 is streaming Xbox on his smart watch, phone and toaster the discs are going to look like relics of a bygone age.

Modern Video Games / Are you excited for Days Gone or nah?

I'm conflicted. I like that gritty realistic Last of Us-esque aesthetic but hordes of zombies are about as mundane as an opponent as I could possibly imagine for a video game.
