Site Feedback / Re: v2 Beta bug report thread

Very small thing, probably not at the top of your list of things to do, but thought I'd point it out anyways:

1080 Snowboarding for N64 is now listed as "1080° Snowboarding".

With this new handy-dandy VGCollect upgrade, we now have this cool little panel that gives us details on the item selected, on the right-hand side of the page, when you sign into your collection.

What is the default, first item the website displays in your collection on that panel?

Mine:

1001 Video Games You Must Play Before You Die book by Tony Mott, from the Print Media category.

I love me some hardcover books. I stopped by Barnes and Noble this weekend and picked these up. They were all on sale and I've actually never read any HP Lovecraft, or Frankenstein. Dracula, was a must have though. I have it in paperback, but that book looks so freaking cool.

Those really do look cool.

I still dont think he would be part of the movies if he didnt have some sort of input. :)

Well like I said, he's pretty much their mascot now. He still does some things, but it's more about public image for Marvel. He hasn't been Editor-In-Chief for many years. In fact, he left Marvel for a few years there to start his own comic company, which is now owned by someone else.

^ Like I said, it's not a terrible console. It has a good library of games and reliable hardware. It's just my least favorite Nintendo console because of the lack of certain game genres, and the terrible controller.

The thing that the comic fanatics seem to ignore is that Stan Lee himself is part of every one of these movies. If anyone should be upset about the story line going off, its him. And he approves, I approve!

Stan Lee has had very little control at Marvel since they got bought out in the late 90s. And I doubt Disney has given him any more control since they took over. He's more like Marvel's mascot, at this point.

Thanks for working on this. Many sites like this promise updates and fixes, but often procrastinate forever before doing anything. So it really instills confidence knowing that VGCollect backs up what they promise.

Iron man 2. I kept trying to watch this movie but never could find the time. Well, watched it and I liked it okay. The guy with the whips was awesome. Black widow was major yummy.

Glad I'm not the only one that liked that movie. It seems super-hero movies have to be freaking perfect anymore for anyone to enjoy them.

1. Virtual Boy - It's been labeled as a "portable", but let's be serious here, it's not like you can pull out your Virtual Boy in a car or in a crowded waiting room. It's a console. And it's a terrible one, at that. If a console gives you headache after playing, and give you tracers in your vision for several minutes afterwards, it's a failure. Not to mention it's miniscule game library.

2. Phillips CD-i - We had one of these in our science class in school. We often played "edutainment" games that involved science and some mystery you had to solve. But I also got to have a taste of the some of the terrible FMV games, and played one of the cringe-worthy Zelda games on it. So freaking bad. You can tell this console was made by a bunch of guys in suits that just didn't get gaming.

3. Intellivision - It may have had better graphics than than the Atari 2600, but that terrible contraption they called a controller killed any potential it had.

4. Atari 2600 - I know, many gamers are gonna call blasphemy on me since this is the console that really launched the modern-day console industry and many, many genres of games were created on it. But I just find a good majority of it's game library to be too simplistic. And the sound on it is just cringe-worthy bad. Some of the sounds that come out that machine are ungodly. Plus I'm not a big fan of joysticks, especially Atari 2600's stiff-as-a-board joystick.

5. Nintendo 64 - It's not actually a terrible console. It's just my least liked Nintendo console (other than the Virtual Boy). And most of that is due to it's terrible, awkwardly shaped controller with the worst thumbstick ever made. It kills the gameplay on so many otherwise great games. And the console was lacking in 2 of my favorite genres: shoot-em ups and RPGs.

$2 isnt bad for those bongos. Basically the price of a 20 oz bottle at 7-11 and those bongos will last a lot longer!

20 oz, don't you mean a 24 oz?

...oh, you're talking about soda.

I'd have more fun with the 24 than any of those other options, though.

I hate Gamestop myself. A lot of it comes from the fact that they actually destroyed EB and Funcoland which were awesome retro game stores. (1).  Gamestop doesnt do any sort of retro at all which is what a lot of "game" is. When I walk up to a "game" store, I expect to see game stuff not signs about buying Ipads and cell phones. (2).  The employees can also either make or break the store for me as well. OKC actually has a lot of Gamestop stores. The one closest to my house, the employees could not give a damn what you wanted or why you were there, they just want to go home. I will actually drive out of my way to go to a store about 15 miles away cause of the employees. Last Saturday was a perfect example. It was supposed to be a Skylander celebration. From 10-2 was supposed to be new figures, free items, prizes and what not. Well, we went to the store closest to the house assuming it would actually be the same at all the stores. Hell no! They open and all the new figures are behind the counter out of sight (we had to ask for it), they didnt want to give anything away, no contests or nothing. They went so far as to tell us they werent going to do any of that. Assholes. I went to the other store I go to and the girl there was cool. She couldnt believe what the other store was doing. She went out of her way to hook me up with everything the other store should have.

(1).  *Supposedly* (from what a few employees have told me & from some things that I've read on-line); their "Gamestop Power-up" (or is it "Power +")(?) has been (for ~a year, now)...in the process of implementing a new "RETRO" part/section to their list of 'Reward' choices (As in -theoretically-) they'll have an inventory & catalog of games from the 5th, 6th, and 7th generations included as rewards...

...However, with that said, from other things that the same employees have told me...the 'cost' in "reward points" (for even the most common & inexpensive of these games) is just going to be...*Outrageous* - even by GS' standards :(

(2).  I absolutely agree with you 100% about the *right* employees making the store - while the *wrong* employees just as quickly & thoroughly break a store  :o

The retro section of the Rewards program already came and went like a year back. They had what I'd guess is some leftover stock from their Funcoland days. IIRC, there was Mortal Kombat on SNES, Dragon Warrior on NES, and a few others. And you had to have an insane amount of points to get them, like 25,000.

People that aren't watching Definance, are missing a helluva sci-fi show. And despite people wanting to compare it to Firefly, it's really NOTHING alike other than it taking place in the future. And Brent Spiner (Data from Star Trek TNG) does a helluva job as his character Day-Tak (not sure if that's how it's spelled, just trying to get the pronunciation right).

The characters, the tension between the alien races, the layers of subterfuge happening, and the city itself are becoming more fleshed out and building towards something big.

The end of every episode keeps me wanting more.

Captain America: Super Soldier for XBox 360.

Not bad, especially for a movie-based game. It was nothing ground-breaking, but it was fun to play and had a little more polish than most movie-based games.

What's cool about it, is that it's a prequel to the movie rather than playing through the movie story.
