Video Game Database Discussion / Re: Listing Errors 2016
« on: October 06, 2016, 12:49:45 pm »
I got a Rejected on this after submitting the correct box art. I was told it was the incorrect box art. As I own the game I know what the box art looks like. The correct image was submitted.

Your image was missing the white rectangle logo that shows up on the upper left side. It can be seen in the existing picture and also on other images I used as reference. Better pictures are great, but removing information is not ok. If your game does not have this logo on it, we can discuss whether or not you have a variation worthy of having a new entry.

News / Re: UPDATE - Anniversary Badges Launched / Fixed Edit Badges
« on: October 05, 2016, 12:31:05 pm »
I passed 5,000 edits but now the badge is this picture:

I take it no higher number than 5,000 is used, now it is just infinity edits.  ;D

The only time it is too late is when it involves a game you can no longer actually play.

On the topic of Mexico, it seems times are changing. At one point, Mexico was considered Central America and that is how I remember it being taught in grade school. Even looking it up online, I can find it being Central or North America, so there is no real consensus it seems.

I put the game back into [NA] category.

I fixed the title on that entry just now.
We don't have a PS3 [MX] category currently, so it doesn't matter which category it is in. Mexico is not North America. What category did you make the game in?

I'm not as into it as I once was, but I am not disappointed with my purchase.

It's cool you were able to find something to enjoy, but they are still advertising a game that doesn't exist and spent a lot of time promoting aspects that aren't there and seemingly refused to actually deny whether it had certain features or not.

I do not pay attention to game advertisment. It has been wrong for games for years. The E3 videos over the years only made me excited about such a game. Same goes for any other games I see preview videos of. I made my purchase after watching someone play the actual game on Twitch. So it was no mystery to me, and it is still an amazing concept of a game I have been waiting my entire life for*. It will only get better from here.

*My original idea, something I had from the late 90s was actually based on a different type of mechanic, but NMS is close enough for now. My original idea was relating to Maxis Sim series, with the ability to have a modular game where you can seamlessly transition from between planets to the ground. That small part is what made me interested in NMS, the idea that maybe we are getting to the point technologically where one of my dream game types would be possible.

Video Game Database Discussion / Re: Retro City Rampage DX Case Question

The way the database it right now, yes that is how it should be. We can take your Minecraft (Vita) example. A person can go to the store and get the Minecraft Vita box and it has a download code in it. This is a physical item and should exist in the regular Vita category. If a person buys this, they can put this item into their collection.

You can go onto PSN and buy Minecraft for the Vita. This is a digital game and should exist in the appropriate PSN category. If a person buys this on PSN, they can put it into their collection.

Now, if a person buys the physical release Minecraft on Vita, they can choose to either add the one in the physical category, the one in the PSN category, or both. It is the user's decision how they want to add the items into their collection.

Please note that these examples do not apply to the Retro City Rampage DX PSP case, because it is a pack-in or item that came with a PS4 game, hence the discussion on how it should be sorted.

Don't forget about CD games... even if you don't have the system to play it on or know the language they are in. They might have an audio track you can listen to in a CD player. ;)

General / Re: I have a question about import games
« on: September 28, 2016, 06:47:09 pm »
I keep imports together with the rest of the platform, but grouped separately. I do not mix together Japan or Canada games with the US games.

I say try to arrange your things in multiple ways and see which way you like best. Or I know some people will re-arrange things every now and then just to try something new.

- list it under PSN (PSP)

It should be in this category (and all the relevant digital categories) anyways unless it cannot be purchased on PSN without buying this physical copy.

By this logic you need to move Temple of Osiris, Guardians of Middle Earth, MLB 15 (Vita), Minecraft (Vita) and any other game with a digital code to a digital category. Even though you get a physical item, it makes no sense.

We are not contesting that you can go to the store, buy a physical game that has no media inside and has a code in it. That is the retail version of the game and should exist in the physical category. Any game that you can get on digital only, should be in the applicable digital category.

I feel like it should remain separate from the PS4 version. What kind of a Collector is going to display or store it with their PS4 games?

We are talking about the database, not a person's own preferences on arranging or sorting their collection.

I think there are two options. Following the previous decision on Grand Kingdom, we can put these PSP items into the swag category. However, since these are platform specific items, it can also be put into PlayStation Portable Accessory.

Is there a reason why it needs to be separate from the PS4 game? That's the other thing so far not mentioned.

Up until now, it was just pack-in items from systems can have separate entries, or additional games in non-system bundles, whereas game package and each individual game has their own entries. Then we have a situation or two where collector's edition items were included separately from the game where no outer containing box was used. Is there any other items in the DB that is splitting out non-game items like this we need to consider also?

@rayne315: I don't think the intent of the item matters in this situation. What I am wondering is how the item was packaged. When I look online, I only find pictures of the bundle where the PSP stuff and the PS4 game is separate. Is there an outer box that contains all this stuff, or was it sent with the game and PSP case being separate?
