Modern Video Games / Re: E3 Thread!
« on: June 10, 2014, 01:31:53 am »
My friend's fiancé is ranting at how Sony didn't show any games, so you've got someone else on your side, bikingjahuty  :P I still don't agree, but I figured you'd enjoy the support  ;)

I felt like both Sony and MS showed about the same number of games, am I off?

No, they showed about 20 games each, and tbh Microsoft's conference wasn't much better, but I did feel slightly more excited about Sunset Overdrive, Phantom Dust, and Tomb Raider (even though it is a multi-plat). I felt my interest spike briefly when they announced Grim Fandango, but the whole time I yearned for something more, hoping they'd announce something like The Last Guardian or some sort of surprise that caught everyone off guard. I suppose Uncharted 4 might have been that one thing for some, but it was never a series I was that into.

I am definitely not a Sony hater, the PS3 is my favorite 7th gen console, and the PS2 is my second favorite console of all time. I guess I just expected more from them, and they did not deliver anything that made me want to get a PS4, even going as far as to make the XB1 look more appealing (even though I still have no plans of buying that either). I am really hoping for some surprises tomorrow at Nintendo's conference and even a release date for X will make the conference worth while for me. I wish Sony would have delivered, but I guess I am in the minority along with your friend's fiance lol

I'm in the same boat as you, I just don't think Sony delivered. Playstation is definitely my go to system to play games on, but compared to their conference from last year, this one was just lackluster. Last year we had the whole "Here's the PS4!" hype which granted, you can't really follow with out some disappointment. But last year they revealed the Order 1866, Infamous, Kingdom Hearts III, Final Fantasy XV among others. All of those are really big name games. I felt that this year, nothing really was a game changer. Batman, Far Cry, Order 1866, Destiny, and Phantom Pain all look amazing, but those had already been announced. Littlebigplanet 3 and Uncharted 4 were awesome, but where was Sly Cooper or God of War? Plus there were way too many zombie games. And that whole thing about Playstation TV and the Power TV series about put me to sleep. That's something that will appeal to a someone more casual, not the people watching the conference. Those who watched the conference are gamers, who want to see games. At least that's what I wanted to see more of.

Oh well, come one Nintendo!

I used to do this with 360 games before I actually got one a few weeks ago. I found the Orange Box at a thrift shop about a year ago for $5 and just went from there. I especially did this with the few JRPGs that the 360 had when I saw them.

I also have 1 lone Intellivision game that I'm still not really sure why I bought. I don't think I've even seen an Intellivision system ever.

Off Topic / Re: Maleficent: What do you Think of it From This Clip?

I think Angelina Jolie looks absolutely stunning! I think her mannerisms and voice almost match the iconic animation. Critics will probably hate it and I'll probably love it. This is definitely one of my top picks for the summer, right behind Guardians of the Galaxy.

If this movie is financially successful I could see Disney giving other villains like Ursula or Jafar their own movies.

1. Kingdom Hearts (3 or 2.5 remix) I'll take any information at this point.
2. Pokémon Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire (I really don't get why Nintendo didn't wait until E3 to announce these)
3. Zelda U
4. Final Fantasy XV
5. X

I would love to hear about God of War 4 or Sly Cooper 5! *fingers crossed*

June can't come soon enough!

So...if you had to pick one game's OST as your favorite one of all time - it would be ______?

and

if you had to pick only one TRACK/SONG as your favorite one of all time - it would be ______?

My favorite soundtrack hands down would have to be Kingdom Hearts II

Favorite track= Darkness of the Unknown (From KHII) In all the games I've played, no other boss battle has come close to the final showdown with Xemnas.

The other soundtrack that I simply adore is Cave Story's. The original soundtrack was truly amazing! Both it and the remix soundtrack project that was released online has been a mainstay on my iPod for a while now. The theme from when you have to run through hell is the definition of awesome for me!

What a cool topic. Definitely some good games mentioned here.
Here are some upcoming RPGs I've had my eye one that I think could end up on the rare side in the future.

The Dreamcast version of Pier Solar that comes out sometime soon. It's going to be released digitally on a couple of current platforms but I think the physical Dreamcast version is the one to get. The Genesis print from a few years back became very rare so this one could go the same way. http://www.magicalgamefactory.com/en/factory/pier-solar_1/

Conception II: Children of the Seven Stars for 3DS & Vita comes out on April 15th. Another quirky RPG being published by Atlus. Knowing Atlus this one will probably have a shorter print run. Plus the pre-orders are coming with a soundtrack disc. http://www.amazon.com/Conception-II-Children-Seven-Stars-PlayStation/dp/B00GOOSTJ0

The Witch and the Hundred Knight for PS3. An Action RPG published by NIS that comes out at the end of the month. This one has been getting mediocre reviews but it looks gorgeous. I'm guessing this one will be very niche and coming out towards the end of the PS3's lifespan will have a shorter print run. http://www.amazon.com/The-Witch-Hundred-Knight-Playstation-3/dp/B007PNBU0Y

Ragnarok Odyssey ACE for PS3 and Vita that comes out on April 1st. It's an updated version of a Vita game that came out 2 years ago. I don't know a lot about this one, it has something to do with Norse mythology. It's being published by XSEED so it'll probably have a shorter print run like the others. http://www.amazon.com/Ragnarok-Odyssey-ACE-PlayStation-Vita/dp/B00G6S2N8W/ref=pd_sim_vg_12?ie=UTF8&refRID=00JC7SWDZS3TP1WNTBSJ

Site Feedback / Location option?

I love the option of being able to put the price paid and the date purchased when adding a new game to your collection, but how about where the game was purchased? Just to have a slot to type Gamestop, thrift shop, Amazon, eBay, yard sale, etc, I think would be way cool.

Any thoughts?
