General / Re: Round 3: What is your fondest gaming memory of all?

Hmm... can't really pick just one. I'm not good at "best" type questions. I can't simply rank things that I am fond of. Such questions make me feel like I imagine some parents might if you ask them which of their children do they love the most.

Perhaps watching my brother play SMB2 on old console TV we had way back in the day... maybe getting Super Punch Out for my B-day one year, countless hours spent playing FaceBall 2000 and Gradius III... or the summers spent playing co-op Duke Nukem 64 and GoldeEye with friends and family. Honorable mention dates back about six years prior when I first got back in to all of this and started collecting and really discovering so many games and consoles and going out to flea markets, at the same point picking up my DSi with Rhythm Heaven and just having so much enthusiasm for the DS among other consoles. Good times. :)

The first time I spent my own money on a console it was buying my own Dreamcast, because the one we had in the house was being hoarded constantly to feed someone else's Fantasy Star Online addiction. Bought it for about $65 at KB Toys when they were clearing them out. Unfortunately I was too stupid to really buy any games with it, because I was convinced just burning games was the way to go.

so dumb, so dumb, so dumb, soooo!!!

UHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH NIS AMERICA WHY!

Did anybody get the email about their preorder paypal authorization expiring. Now I have to manual send them money 5 times, because it can't be fixed.

I'm seriously done ordering from them, and done pre-ordering anything on the Internet. Everywhere I do this, something goes wrong. I'm curious if you can actually cancel your pre-order at NIS? Because I'd like to.

This instantly made me think of the Game Launch Rock. Don't you ever buy a console at launch! Although you didn't, you still sound like what I consider an early adopter. My philosophy is - buy it once you know it's ready to go and it has something worth your while. Just being available, or being new doesn't necessary mean you should get one and that goes for any console.

I also think 4 to 5 years is still the average life span of a console, last gen being the exception, and I think people are already forgetting that. There are still plenty of games, and you can continue playing the games that exist for a discontinued platform.

I guess I've always bought at the right time, but I've never had any issue with Xbox, or 360. Not even a red ring. I like em'.

720 seems like one cause the thickness of the cardboard looks pretty thin.

Yep. I was pretty disappointed with that paper, but might as well use it as I have 250 sheets. Trying to do this with an inkjet is hard.

My guess is Adventure Island.

That would be the second correct answer of three.

If I were going to guess, Id say Lolo 2 cause the inside of the box looks white.

That's one correct answer. The white inside is the tell I was referring to. There are still two others that aren't original either, though.  :P

I definitely have a few labels I plan to replace eventually. I'm getting pretty big into the repro of beat up / missing items in my own collection.

I would ask if you could tell which of these boxes are not original. You would think condition might give it away, but there's another small detail that actually tells it.

General / Re: Eco-friendly game cases: Love or loathe them?
« on: January 22, 2015, 02:20:36 pm »
Eco cases are the pits. They ruin artwork, but I'm not even sure how much that matters now that the tissue thin artwork ruins itself by warping before it ever hits store shelves (I'm especially looking at you, recent PS3 games), that drives me crazy! It's new, why does it have to look horrible?  :'(

The best strategy is to transplant your new games into the original style game cases, if you can find them. Not sure what you could do for Wii U. Current packaging is becoming so cheap, in a few years time it will be difficult to find any that are still in good condition.

General / How trustworthy is LukieGames on condtion?
« on: January 22, 2015, 12:02:24 am »
They they are a huge online dealer, they of course use generic descriptions. But the fine print says basically, the game could be jacked up cosmetically and they only guarantee that it works.

When buying online, I almost always buy from the small sellers and people with actual photos. So I'm wondering, do they pedal any crap condition stuff at all? Anyone bought from them and got something less than decent?

That's where I got the images, but my inkjet doesn't do them justice. I wanted to know if there was someone online who could print high quality copies for me.

If photo printer and some photo paper should do the trick.

I've never downloaded a single DLC and never plan to. Whether I end up with the launch version, or the full version, I don't loose sleep over it. I'd have to be very into the game to care. I have far too many games to worry about some bonus levels, weapons, or costumes I might have missed  I never even bother buying new releases unless they are niche, so I rarely notice.

I thought it was quite hilarious up until they started shifting the focus of the show more towards relationship humor and less of the general goofiness. The Howard / Penny relationship humor was tolerable for a bit, then they started pushing the Bernadette and Amy characters and it started to become less funny and more predictable from there.

I doubt there's any real demand for Fritz Chess. ??? But Xenoblade and Fire Emblem have already seen a reprint I think.
