Personally, I think a bubble-mailer is fine. If it's still damaged after that, it's definitely the post office's fault, not the mailer's. A Game & Watch is a nice flat shape, it's not awkwardly shaped or anything. Not to sound rude, but to me that sounds like a collector being a bit too nitpicky.

I mean I've seen horror stories with shipping. I already mentioned the piece of printing paper wrapped around one game. I've also had games shipped to me in a normal letter envelope. I even had a Sega Genesis game shipped to me in it's own game case, they just turned the artwork around and wrote the addresses on that. Those types of things are bad shipping.

That's no consideration vs little consideration.

When I sell stuff, I think about if a bubble mailer is safe enough for what I'm sending. DVD hard plastic is about the only thing that can withstand a lot of semi-direct abuse, but that's about it. Anything else, needs either additional padding around it, or shipped in a box also with additional padding. If you package something correctly, you should be able to use it as a football and still the item inside will be fine. If it can't withstand that, then you're under-packaging to some degree.

I pray to the gaming gods that my W&HN is packed well enough to face off with my raging postal man. It should be in his hands by tomorrow morning.  :-\

Ya know we got those first world problems.

Indeed!

Like being able to cancel & back out of deals, commitments, agreements, etc; right?  :o

Hmmm, sounds bad right here.

Meh; not necessarily "bad" (hence just making a comment instead of starting off a new user feedback thread for someone w/ a negative post) -but- moreso inconvenient, inconsiderate, and, IMO, in bad taste.

In a nutshell:

My 1st deal with Greg (Argyle) = he did his research, read my feedback here over the years, and (more than likely) talked to other long-time members about dealing with me ==> then, (as the "new guy" aka unknown quantity) offered to send to me 1st; which to me, makes sense & is just plain old "Netiquette" & the way things have always been done.

Then - Warmsignal (as a very new member to our community) requested that I set aside one of my Witch & the 100 Knight LE's...almost a month ago(?).

We even talked & agreed upon a price.

Then, yesterday, he seemed surprised that I wasn't going to just send it off to him in the mail -and- that (since he was so new) that I had the 'audacity' to actualy expect him to pay up front.

Lastly, "being surprised at the way I do business"...he just went & got it somewhere else  :o

Not the end of the world since I have other interested buyers + (like I said) - I'll give the benefit of the doubt by not "marking/making" his "Permanent Record" (read: User Feedback thread) here start off on such a bad note -but- I *did* feel it worthy & deserving of a comment to the other regulars here who will be reading this to keep in mind...

Hey, what happened to you reassuring me that no matter what I decided to do, you would not take it personally or be offended? Because it sounds like I did offend you! :-[ I also never made any such implications towards your dealings with words like audacity and such, I simply said that "I was not aware" of your dealing methods. That's honest. I wasn't aware you did cash only! (My mistake).

I think we are confused about my thoughts regarding etiquette - let me clear that up - I wasn't surprised about who should send first, because I expected to pay first! Like anyone else here, I've dealt many many times online and I am content with pay first, then receive! I was surprised about the request to send actual cash money through the mail. Just wasn't comfy with that idea, and wasn't expecting it. You even said to me that you knew I'd think it sounded weird! It wasn't that I don't trust you, I am just weary of putting cash money in the mail.

When I posted a want-to-buy thread for W&HN, you responded asked me if I wanted it - I said yes, in fact, I did. We agreed on a price. However, I did not think to ask (nor did you tell me) about any specific transaction methods before we settled that I wanted it and you would sell it to me for X amount. We didn't dot the i's and cross the t's properly.  :-\

I meant nothing personal by this very abrupt cancellation and felt reassured by Kenny that he felt the same way if I was uncomfortable sending cash. In hindsight, perhaps it was in poor taste to tell him that I had purchased it elsewhere, but know that this came after he told me he was okay with whatever I decided... I must apologize if this sounded spiteful. I was just excited to get the thing, and was pretty certain that the sale of Kenny's copy was directly in line for someone else if couldn't do the deal.

Just so that everyone knows from this point forward - I buy and sell online via PayPal only. Also, I will happily pay first, since I am new and I have no issue with that. I also have an irrefutable feedback score elsewhere for reference if needed. I only backed out this one time because the details were not ironed out before the time came to do the deal. I believe Kenny did use the word "cash" early in our initial talks, but that did not occur to me that he meant "cash money". I will take responsibility for this error. It happens, again, nothing personal and I apologize if I offended you Kenny.

Lunar - DS (cart only) - $4.  Forgot the full title of this one, but AFAIK there's only one Lunar for the DS.  Got it because it was Lunar & super cheap.

There are two, Dragon Song and Knights. Dragon Song is largely bashed as one of the worst Lunar games, but Knights was well received.

Today I got Steel Harbinger (PS1) in the mail.

I remember my best-friend bought that when it was brand-new. We really wanted to like it, because we didn't have many games on PS1, being that it was the new expensive system then. But I remember it being terrible.

Meh, I go by gameplay videos on YouTube. Everyone can't be Twisted Metal or Crash Bandicoot, and lucky if they even achieve Wild 9 status. Doesn't mean they're bad. Try playing Big Rigs, every now and then it's good to ground yourself on what a terrible game is. As well, perspectives on games can change a lot from when you were a kid.

Today I got Steel Harbinger (PS1) in the mail. Seemed like a pretty cool hidden gem of sorts. Yesterday, I picked up Deception IV.

As badly as I want Deception IV, I really want the first three on the PS1. I went on Ebay last night, and they have all gone up in price recently. Hopefully once the novelty of the fourth game wares off I'll be able to grab the first three for a better price.

You should still grab it. I'm the same way, but I figured there was no way I was letting IV slip away, so drove out to GameStop on day one and picked it up. I was told it was the only copy the store was sent, if that tells you anything.

Your local post office must suck. I've only had games get crushed in transit twice in ten years.

I second this.

With games that come in standard jewel cases (PS1 and Dreamcast) I have never had a game get crushed inside of a bubble mailer. Saturn games and other hard plastic longbox games are another story. I have always received and sent these in boxes with proper insulation. If you breath on a Sega CD case the wrong way it shatters lol

Seems like I spent a whole summer super gluing Sega CD hinges back together. Most all of them I received in the mail came in standard bubble mailers. Anything that is sent in a bubble mailer seems like it was curb stomped by the time I get it. I think my mailman has some anger issues.

IMO, standard jewel cases are just as brittle as the over sized. They might require a bit more deliberate carelessness to break for their size, but it's easily done.

Every Sega CD game I've ordered, save for a couple that were packaged in a hard box, have arrived damaged in transit. Other non-game related items I've ordered have arrived with damage too. You might be right.

It gets to be a headache, especially when buying from sellers on eBay who are not gamers. In my day, I've terrible luck with the methods in which sellers like to ship games that come in jewel cases or oversized jewel cases, mostly PlayStation and Sega Saturn / CD. They show up in a bubble mailer, freshly crushed, plastic shards spilling out of the package. A pity too, when you can tell they were in excellent shape.

I think common sense would tell you a bubble mailer is inefficient to mail a jewel case in, it's no match for the United States Postal Service. It's too bridle, it's like mailing glassware in a grocery bag. I think eBay should force users to into a tutorial about mailing items like games, then quiz them. If they can't pass the shipping quiz, they should be disallowed to sell games.

Well, now I'm off to figure out where I can find some new clear spine jewel cases!  :-\

No. The ones without cases just go without and I dust my shelves.

Unless they're NES, Game Boy/GBC, or Game Gear games. I can usually find a stash of old dust sleeves/plastic cases for cheap on those at the local used movie shop in town, or in an auction on eBay.

That's not a bad idea, though. I just imagine it looking kind of ugly on shelves with a bunch of plastic bags covering them.

I have one PS2 game in one, because that's the way it was sent to me. It's really not as obtrusive as you might think. With the correct type, you can barely notice the bag.

This is something I am going to start doing soon. The main reason is shelf wear. I hate shelf wear, because I love the glossiness of a brand new game. Also ideal if your home is not air conditioned, like mine isn't. In the summer, depending on where you live, that can wreak havoc on your games. Not everything I have is pristine, but what is, I wish to keep that way.

They make these for DVD cases, but I wonder, do they make them for blu-ray, or 3DS? Vita for that matter?

Think there was another thread about this. I already got the PSP version, not sure I want this.

Well, the official statement I read just said that it requires "original packaging", so manuals a probably not what they're checking for. Not a problem anymore because they don't make them, but in the past it would have caused me headache to ask about seeing a game and then have to turn it away because of no manual. I've got a new outlook from 8th gen forward - no manual, no problem.

Around my area (where there's no such thing as a locally owned game store) nothing beats a GS staffed by good people.  The one I frequent, the guys know me & know I'm particular about my games.  I found a complete Silent Hill: Shattered Memories for the Wii the other day and was very excited because I had been looking for it and no one in town had had it until now.  But when the guy pulled the disk, he goes "uh-oh" and holds the printed side towards me to show me something.  At first I didn't see anything, and I told him so, then he tilted the disk slightly - in the black part of the label someone had written a number with a black marker.  :(  I was sad that the game was a no-go, but that was a lot better than having someone just slap it in an envelope and leaving me to find out about it at home & have to return it.

What I'm saying is, while I do trade in some at BB because they often have higher values and my credit goes farther there with my GCU 20% off, I prefer to do business at GS because the people know me and are knowledgeable about games.  I have even shopping at Wal-Mart, so I can't imagine I'll ever try to trade anything in there unless they have some kind of insane deal for doing so.

On the odd occasion, I'll buy a game from Walmart. You never know what will be picked over and what will be left to rot at a Walmart. Walmart is actually where I found a $20 copy of Fire Emblem for Wii a couple years ago, also where I found Fire Emblem Radiant Dawn for the same price. But then I notice they'll hold on to a copy of Mushroom Men at $50 going on 4 years the same store. Which is anothing thing about Walmart's games department, it's very YMMV. They do whatever they want, they don't all have the same pricing or stock.

Funny thing, last month I was picking up something there, and noticed they were giving out copies of their own video gaming mag called Walmart GameCenter, which actually featured previews, interviews, and game reviews of it's own. Also noticed they now have game reservation tickets behind the glass as well. I guess it's all a part of their new plan to break more into the games market.

Poor ole' Kmart tried to do something like this a couple years back, but when corporate found the business as a whole was still hemorrhaging money in Q4 of 2011, they shut down the guy in charge of the "Kmart Gamer" program. He was a nice guy, he posted and kept in touch with the CAG forums a lot when drawing up his deal plans. They were doing weekly sales on different games, lots of new release incentives and stuff. It was short lived, but nice while it lasted.
