Can You Tell Me What Version Of the OG Xbox I Have

yours is probably a model 1.4 or 1.5

model 1.6 only has a release date of 2004 or beyond that date

some 1.4 and 1.5 version have the good clock capicitator otherwise it's not that hard to remove

If you're able to easily get to a refurb guy/do the work yourself, I'd take it in regardless. The capacitator is question is supposed to be extremely easy to take out, and you could get the unit looked over for other damage too. It's probably worth it, especially considering how little said capacitor actually does (it keeps your clock data so if you unplug the system/have a power outage, you don't need to reset the time. Hardly a big issue.)

Thanks for the help guys, I just got my OG Original Xbox fixed, and thanks to both of you, and the console repair people, I can enjoy this thing now. the tech did find that my capacitor was beginning to leak acid onto the motherboard but one of the techs said they caught it in time the bad capacitor was removed I and the console was fully repaired/salvaged.

If I would have waited a month longer I might have lost my xbox original that I bought used, apparently Disc Reply didn't check on the leaking capacitor, before they sold it to me. Thats fine I got this thing fixed and hopefully I won't have anymore issues,
