74. Detroit: Become Human - Pacifist Run

First off, I'm glad I was gifted this because it was hella short. I intend to replay it for the remaining trophies but still. I would have been mad if I paid for it new back when it was first released in like 2018. Second, I'm glad I was gifted this because it was a great game - miles above Heavy Rain and Beyond: Two Souls. It felt correct playing through it during October because there were some really spooky areas and set pieces. Most of the game was more about suspense than scares. Both were delivered solidly. Some of the chapters suffered from "a meeting that could have been an e-mail" syndrome but those were few and far between. Also, the QTEs weren't as offensive as they were in previous games/similar games. I liked the three main characters. My favorite is Kara, with a two-way tie for Markus and Connor. The supporting cast was also great except for North. She was so hot and cold no matter what choices I made. My favorite mission was when Connor and Hank found their way to a strip club. It's not a David Cage game unless there's some sex, ha.

32. The Munchables

The Munchables. It sounds like a cereal for after you smoked, but it's a 3D platformer released by Bandai Namco on Wii. It's been on my shelf for several years, I was in the mood to give it another go and properly beat it. And I did so in a single evening.

First off all, I have to commend this game for having the best enemy I've ever seen in any game ever. A lot of the enemies are sentient food, and spoiler for a single enemy in the game, but: inside a volcano, you encounter a walking corncob with an afro made of popcorn. Brilliant. Absolutely brilliant. No notes.

This is a short and pretty simple 3D platformer, crossed with a little Katamari inspiration. You play as an adorable little blob - either Chomper or Munchy - and your goal is to eat everyone and everything around you. Eating enough will cause you to grow bigger so you can more easily eat enemies that were too big before. It's really nothing more than that. Keep going, eating and growing until you finish the stage. There are eight worlds, each with one more exploration-focused level, one eating rush and one pretty easy boss fight. Beat them all and voila, that's the game.

In terms of gameplay, there's really not that much to it, but I cannot deny that the game is charming. It's cute. It's colourful, it's silly, and Chomper and especially Munchy are adorable. And really, sometimes that's all I really need. Just a simple, easy to digest, cute and colourful time. Honestly I think it's a shame this game never got a rerelease. It deserves a PC port on digital storefronts. Maybe it could've given the game a second chance. Just maybe.

So yeah, I can absolutely see that there isn't much depth to be found, so I'm not sure I would recommend it to everyone. But if you like games that are simple, colourful and cute, or maybe you have a kid that would like something like that, I can recommend it. If anything just for Munchy. She's so adorable, I wish there was a plushie of her.
