I managed to beat RE1 HD Remaster yesterday despite my issues with the controls, so with a full head of steam, I decided to jump into RE0 HD Remaster today, but I'm really not liking it as much.  I do like that I can just drop items, but removing the item box makes things abit obnoxious now that I'm leaving stuff everywhere on the floor, mostly in a central room.  It's like one really big unorganized box.

The co-op stuff is not very good either.  I had forgotten they had done co-op before RE5, but where it mostly worked there, for what it was, here it just feels clunky.  Thought I'd like it more as I could just sorta use the partner as a pack mule, but feels like I'm not gaining as much as I thought, especially when big weapons take up two slots and both characters have them.  Balancing their weapon use and idle/attack stances gets obnoxious.  Also a lot of the areas where zombies show up are very narrow, so you practically have to fight everything, making ammo very scarce and enemies like the ooze people take so much ammo.  No defensive weapons this time either.

I actually got into RE1 more than I expected, the change to co-op is not great and it feels like they could've done more to advance the series at the time.  After playing both of these and realizing that they released in the same year, on the same system, it's kinda no wonder that Capcom decided to make such a big shift with RE4.

Might be the end of my old school runs through Resident Evil other than playing RE4 again.  There's a big high quality texture mod being released soon that I want to check out when its done.

I actually beat it today, as well (on Xbox One). I had already beaten it on the original GameCube release, and the original a couple of times before that on PS1. I just love the old-school RE games.

There are parts I like about old RE.  The idea that the locations are essentially giant puzzle boxes, as ridiculous as they are from a world perspective (No one would ever be able to live in most of these places realistically with how convoluted they are lol), are a fun idea, even if they can get tedious at times.  I ended up liking the exploration in RE1 as they remind me abit of Myst when I use to play it as a kid, just with the action I crave.  The controls are awful (even in the modern style) and I will never see them as anything more than a limitation of the time, but at least with RE1, I see more of what people liked and found some enjoyment myself.

As excited as I am for RE2 Remake to be a proper third person shooter with a more serious horror setting, there is a part of me now that would've liked to have seen RE2 and RE3 get the old school Remake treatment.  I'd still have my annoyances with them, and they wouldn't be the games I REALLY want, but at least I'd enjoy them more than I think I'm going to enjoy RE0.  Unfortunately, Capcom's bad business decisions stopped that from ever happening.

Riviera: The Promised Land - GBA version.

I finished the PSP version years ago, so this is a nice trip down memory lane.

Started another playthrough of The Witcher 3 but this time on the PC after picking it up during the Steam sale. Playing it in 60fps is glorious.

I may put the game on hold for a bit because of Muv-Luv, but I'll let you know what I think. I'm going to go ahead and recommend the PSP version because it has more voice acting, a better display, dual language, more CGs, etc. Otherwise, both games are same.

Good to know! I have the PSP version but heavily considered the GBA version 'cause I love GBA boxes.

I actually started my second playthrough a few weeks ago, also on X360 (my copy is the Greatest Hits release, which I had assumed would have some bugfixes already included, but apparently not). Haven’t played Skyrim since the first time I finished it maybe 5-6 years ago.

Previous playthrough was as a Nord one-handed/shield specialist with expertise in archery, enchanting, heavy armor, smithing, and sneaking, and not much magic at all. Wanted to change things up a little so this time I’m a high elf specializing in conjuration, alteration, light armor, enchanting, archery, and sneaking (things like archery and sneaking are just so ingrained in my playstyle it’s hard to change them). I’m only about a third of the way through the main questline but I’ve already done a few things I never experienced before, like join the Dark Brotherhood and discover the atronach forge under the College of Winterhold.

Aegis of Earth: Protonovus Assault (PS4) is taking my time at the minute, it's basically a tower defence game, but instead of enemies coming along a track, you have control of a round city comprised of 4 rings, you can rotate the rings in order to have your weapons aim at monsters attacking from different directions. It's pretty basic, but it's nicely presented and I'm enjoying it. After that I really want to lay the smackdown on Mario & Luigi Dream Team Bros. (3DS), as I've been parked at the final boss of that for months (and months) and want to finish it to start playing the new version of Superstar Saga.

Atronach Forge? Now THAT peaks my curiosity! So many things to do, so little time  :'(
Skyrim is slowly stabbing my backlog of games in the back.

And yea, bows ftw.
