Mini NES Classic Ediiton

The only movies I have gone and seen in the past nine months are Star Wars the Force Awakens and Captain America Civil War.  I can't stand spending all that money to sit in an uncomfortable theater with my feet stuck to the floor and some "big head" sitting down directly in front of me.

We go to the Alamo Drafthouse for movies, the experience is worth it.  It's like $10/person.  The height difference between each row is enough that you can't even see the seats in the row in front of you.  They serve drinks and food.  The theater has strict policies on noise complaints, so people CAN and WILL be escorted from the building.  They serve alcohol so most of the time, no minors.  The 30 minutes leading up to the film, they play relevant videos.  For deadpool they played a bunch of videos from conventions with deadpool cosplayers, trailers of other Ryan reynolds super hero films (Green lantern and the blade films... even though he was only in the 3rd), and other funny deadpool related videos.  For Civil War they played a civil war mockumentary themed as an American Civil War documentary, but about Marvel Civil War, they played a Iron Man v. Captain America kung fu short film.  They played some spiderman stuff from bollywood, japan, and mexico.  And usually they have themed snacks, drinks, and meals.  For deadpool they had chimichangas.  Occasionally they have other stuff, like they will play Princess Bride and give everyone foam swords to sword fight with during the movie.  Sometimes they will have trivia nights or something.  It's just a really cool experience, and as it is, $10 for a movie ticket is pretty good in comparison to other theaters.

I'm pretty interested in it.  It has 30 great games, looks like a solidly-built mini-NES and has the original controllers which provide the authentic feel from when you originally played these games. 

What's aggravating is seeing articles on it on the web and in the comments sections, everyone bitching about the price.  Wow...$60 for a souvenir/game system and thirty DAMN FINE GREAT CLASSIC GAMES.  We aren't talking 30 Atari "beep-boop-bop!" games or one of those chinzy Genesis consoles with 30 home-coded turds to pad out the selection.  It also has HDMI and Nintendo is making it directly, not some 3rd party.  Things like not including the AC adapter for the end of the USB power cable are cheesy as is the short controller cord length.  But the same people bitching about the price will go out to a bar or a movie or an overpriced dinner and spend more than that no questions asked.

Me?  I could go eat a $60 meal.  About 12 hours later (give or take) I'll pinch a big loaf of that meal in the toilet.  Or, I could buy a $8 McMeal and this guy for about the same price and enjoy classic gaming bliss forever more. 

i agree with you about the preferring something physical over buying food yikes. but i have disordered eating, so i see it as a win/win in my case. >.>;;
on the other hand, how the hell does someone eat a $60 meal??? i think the biggest tab i've ever dragged up was $25... that was sushi, a bento box and a round of desert and hot tea. yikes. (there again, as a vegetarian, it's hard for me to accrue a big tab... big tabs, i think, come from quality steak and such, filet mignon, it's easy to not accrue a giant tab on cheap vegetarian sushi/seaweed salad/tofu/mochi ice cream hahaha.

lol there is a place in our area that is a "rich person" restaurant called Bass Street Landing. you know the whole 1 piece carved full wooden tables, white table cloth, 6-7 pieces of REAL silverware pre-arranged on the table a spot, real unguarded candles that were lit when we sat down (and were probably pitched afterwards), that kind of place. my mom wanted to go there for her 50th birthday so we took her, her husband, my brother, my GF, and myself and by the end of it racked up a $500 bill or $100 a person, and there were only 2 pieces of good cuts of meat that we ordered. I cant remember what it was but I got a vegetarian option there as it was one of the cheapest items on the menu (it was good but for the price I probably could have made better) and my seat still came to $60.

back on topic though I can see the value there for the mini-nes but since I own a good portion of the games in hard copy I will probably wait to see if it drops in price to around $30-40

If I had known the prices ahead of time, I wouldn't have gone.  If I walked in and saw those prices, I would have walked the fuck back out.  There is a great steakhouse called Colton's that I go to.  I have not once had a bad meal there and the steak is juicy & bloody as hell when I order it that way.  For me, the wife and two daughters to eat there costs around $60.  I grumble about that costing so much.  Like I said, no matter what you eat it just makes a turd in the end.  Now of course I'm not suggesting that the flavor of your food counts for nothing.  But unless it's for a really good charity, there is no way in bloody hell that I would spend $100+ per person for a meal. 

....I also don't need fifty pieces of silverware.  A fork, spoon and knife is all I need.  After I eat my salad, the same fucking fork works just fine for poking a piece of steak too.   #thispoorguygivesnoshits.

Well, again like I said...
This is really cool that Nintendo is doing this and I'm impressed with the list of titles that were chosen to be built in. But I am rather confused to see that Contra and Castlevania 3 are absent from the roster for some reason yet their respective prequels and sequels are.
I also would like to have seen it with it's own Virtual console so we could download more games to it, like a Steam Machine for Nintendo.

So if Nintendo were to make an SNES Mini, What games would you want in it? Do it like the NES mini and have 30 games with the majority being Nintendo made and one third of the list for third party games.

I'm all for the NES mini. I would love to collect for the NES. It would be my next system in theory, however, I don't want to devote the space to another system. Having 30 games at my disposal with a more console like feel than an emulator on a PC would be great. I will probably pick this up. It is a great selection of games.

Edit:
I would like to see double dragon 2 removed and replaced with Contra. They have gradius after all. Or at the very least replace it with the original double dragon.
