Neo Geo Mini; which game you want on the system?
« on: May 21, 2018, 08:46:13 am »
The Neo Geo Mini was officially announced by SNK, but we won't know more about the 40 games included in the system, the price or release date until next month. Now, some said they had access to the list of games, here what was "leaked";

    The King of Fighters ’95
    The King of Fighters ’97
    The King of Fighters ’98
    The King of Fighters 2000
    The King of Fighters 2002
    Art of Fighting
    Fatal Fury Special
    Real Bout Fatal Fury
    Garou: Mark of the Wolves
    Samurai Shodown II
    Samurai Shodown IV
    Samurai Shodown V Special
    The Last Blade 2
    World Heroes Perfect
    Kizuna Encounter
    Metal Slug
    Metal Slug 2
    Metal Slug 3
    Metal Slug 4
    Metal Slug 5
    Metal Slug X
    King of Monsters
    King of Monsters 2
    Shock Troopers
    Shock Troopers 2nd Squad
    Sengoku 3
    Ninja Master’s
    Top Player’s Golf
    Super Sidekicks
    Blazing Star
    Puzzled
    Magician Lord
    Robo Army
    Crossed Swords
    Mutation Nation
    3 Count Bout
    Last Resort
    Ghost Pilots
    Football Frenzy

I'm looking at that list, and their is plenty of great choices and questionable choices... why not King of Fighters 96, a far superior game than episode 95. Or why the first Super Sidekick and not a improved version. What about Art of Fighting 3?

Here the games released on Neo Geo MVS/AES that I would love to see on the Neo Geo Mini that are not on the leaked list;
- Real Bout Fatal Fury 2
- The King of Fighters 96
- The King of Fighters 2003
- Magical Drop 3
- Art of Fighting 3
- Windjammer
- Sengoku 1 and 2
- Neo Turf Masters
- Waku Waku 7
- Matrimelee
- Neo Bomberman

Which games would you like to see on the Neo Geo Mini? Your thought about the new mini console.

I won't buy emulators, so I won't be getting this.

I would want to see Aero Fighter, aka Sonic Wings.

My main issue with the Neo Geo is that most of its games are already available on other consoles in perfect or near perfect ports, which begs the question of why get a Neo Geo at all, even the mini? I had the chance recently to buy an AES for a decent price, but passed on it because getting only a couple games for it would likely cost me just as much as what I paid for the console. Not only that, but the best games for the console have already been ported so is there really a point beyond bragging rights?

I own a Neo Geo AES and CD, and I still prefer to play Neo Geo games on those consoles than a port. It feel more arcade authentic, no emulation bugs, slowdown or delay. And the Neo Geo arcade stick beat any controller when it's time to play SNK fighting games. But I get that the games are really to expensive. I bought mine 15 years ago while they were still at a relative decent price. These days you can still find good games for 50$ (Samurai Shodown 1 & 2, Fatal Fury Special, World heroes 2, Art of Fighting 2...).

One of my worry with the Neo Geo Mini is the quality of the emulation. Hopefully it is good has the NES and SNES mini.

I bet it's just SNK Arcade Classics Vol. 1 on cheap emulator hardware.

Since I already own that game on PS2, no need for me to get it.

SNK said it will have 40 games, while SNK Arcade Classics Vol. 1 only have 16 titles. And according to the "leaked list" 10 titles from SNK Arcade Classics Vol. 1 won't be on the Neo Geo Mini.

Agree, those 2 games are awesome and rarely ported on other consoles.

to be fair you could say that with any console since most likely it is just a mere fraction of the price whether it would be a digital download or a physical copy

Battle garrega has a ps4 port wich is superior over the saturn version just to name some example.

You could potentially say it for every retro game and system that way also digital since the price difference is pretty substantial if your not going the everdrive route.

You could quit collecting for sega and nintendo systems since both have compialtion consoles or discs with most of the best games for a mere fraction of the price

Would like to see Ninja Commando on it.

Top Player's Golf -> Neo Turf Masters
The King of Fighters ’95 -> Baseball Stars 2
The King of Fighters ’97 -> Top Hunter
The King of Fighters 2000 -> Super Spy
Metal Slug 2 -> Ninja Commando
Samurai Shodown IV -> Twinkle Star Sprites

Most likely it would only have SNK produced games, maybe ADK as well.

Which would unfortunately mean a good number of excellent Neo titles are missing:

• Bust-a-Move (Taito)
• Aero Fighters 2 (Video System)
• Super Dodge Ball (Technos)
• Magical Drop III (Data East)
• Waku Waku 7 (Sunsoft)
• Viewpoint (Sammy)
• SVC Chaos (joint with Capcom)
• Breakers Revenge (Visco)

So I’m really not a fighting game fan. So my list will look much different than most here. Not even sure I can come up with 40 titles that I enjoy from SNK. Though the ones  I like are quite good:

1.   Crystalis (NES version) - MUST HAVE IMO, best game on the NES in my book.
2.   Aero Fighters
3.   Aero Fighters 2
4.   Aero Fighters 3
5.   Metal Slug
6.   Metal Slug 2
7.   Metal Slug 3
8.   Metal Slug 4
9.   Metal Slug 5
10.   Metal Slug 6
11.   Metal Slug 7
12.   Last Resort
13.   Magician Lord
14.   Sengoku
15.   Sengoku 2
16.   Sengoku 3
17.   Burning Fight
18.   Shock Troopers
19.   Athena
20.   Guerrilla War
21.   Ikari Warriors
22.   Ikari Warriors II: Victory Road
23.   Ikari Warriors III: The Rescue
24.   Athena
25.   Psycho Soldier (Athena 2)
26.   Vanguard 2
27.   Time Soldiers
28.   Samurai Shodown
29.   Samurai Shodown II
30.   Samurai Shodown III
31.   Samurai Shodown IV
32.   Samurai Shodown V
33.   Samurai Shodown VI
34.   Last Blade
35.   Last Blade 2
36.   The Art of Fighting
37.   Fatal Fury
38.   King of Fighters (any one of them)
39.   SNK vs. Capcom
40.   SNK vs. Capcom 2: Mark of the Millennium

Many of those early titles from the 80s will be on a compilation on the Switch; SNK 40th anniversary.

Would love to see Data East's Ghostlop added completed from prototype game similar to Star Fox 2 on the SNES Mini.

There, updated it so my list goes to the full 40. Like I said, I'm not a big fighting game fan. So I just threw some SNK fighters at the end that I knew were fighting game fans' essentials.
