The entry for the Sega Genesis 3-button black controller has the wrong image for the controller. The box is correct, but the item image shows the European model. It even says 'Mega Drive Control Pad' at the top.

Sega Control Pad (black letters) [US]: https://vgcollect.com/item/16343

There is already an entry for the European model as well:

Loost controller (cart) art removed from 16343

Thanks for pointing it out, it was not immediately obvious why you were attempting to update the image.

Why is this being rejected? It shouldn't be in the game section.

Games with Accessories or Accessories with Games
The community has decided that all accessories with games or games with accessories should be put into the appropriate games category for a platform. So it does not matter if the accessory or the game title has more prevalence on the box design, it will be considered a game.
Items of this nature that include download codes for games, but no physical games, are also to be put into the game category.

So when will PS VR be considered hardware instead of an accessory?

So when will PS VR be considered hardware instead of an accessory?

I've asked a similar question before. I didn't get a formal answer necessarily, but I imagine the answer given is what's currently agreed upon.

I didn't see any discussion in this thread about adding a PlayStation VR category listing to be added, so maybe this could put into consideration. There are a considerable number of titles that aren't just VR-compatible but require VR. I don't think that this is an exhaustive list since it shows only PAL releases, but it seems to show a healthy amount of titles that could be representative of all TLD releases.

I could be wrong about this, but all these games are still PS4 games and require the PS4 to play them. Playstation VR is an accessory to the PS4, not a console itself.

While that is a good point, the database has individual category listings for the Sega CD, Turbografx-CD, etc. already. To me, PlayStation VR is on equal footing with listings like these.

Sure, but that's a change in the media type. An admin can correct me if I'm wrong, but categories in the DB are split by platform, then further differentiated by media type (disc, cartridge, digital, floppy disc, cassette, etc.) All PSVR games are either disc or digital, and all are played on the PS4 console, so another category isn't necessary. They would just go in PS4 disc or digital. It's about the format the data are on.

The only exception to that is the PS1/PS2 classics category, which I asked to have removed/addressed a long time ago (it's still in Jason's to do list to fix it iirc).

Can this listing be removed. This demo came in the Dragon Quest VIII PS2 game and was never sold in it's own packaging.

When there is a PS VR release that does not require a console to play the game.

Just got a rejected edit so I guess I'll have to explain why I submitted the edit.

This is Call of Duty: World At War: Final Fronts for PS2 (american version): https://www.vgcollect.com/item/19797
This is Call of Duty: World At War: Final Fronts for PS2 ("latin" version): https://vgcollect.com/item/195239

I submitted an edit to the first game, since it is showing the wrong item number and barcode, which is from the latin version. I had in my hands a true american version and can confirm that the item number and barcode is different. But the edit was rejected.

Edits rejected due to attempted item conversion. As you can see in history, the item number and barcode on 19797 are original to the entry, but the title and arts were wrong. Your new item has been merged as dupe and 19797 was fixed. If this means then that the US version is not in the db, then you can add it.

Okay thanks trip. I thought the title was to be treated as prioritary over stuff like item number and barcodes, since most people just look up the title and don't bother to check other release info, therefore we can assume that most people who put this item in their collection actually had the US version, not the "Latin" [CA][MX] one. But thanks, I'll keep that in mind, in the future, to consider barcodes and item numbers as the priority over the title and box art.

When adding to collection, yes this is typically how people do it. When adding to the DB, it is the other way around. The original "Data" is always the most important, with the barcode being most important if it was original to the entry.

From the advanced guide:

Quote
Physical Items: rating should be set if a rating exists on the item.

The item you tried to set the rating on does not yet exist. In other words, do not set the rating based on the pre-sale stock photo on entries like this. Wait until the rating or the product is released before putting a rating on it. Many people who make these entries for physical items before they exist set the RP and then it is forgotten forever and we end up with a bunch of entries for released items with the wrong ratings on them.

Remember that entries in physical game categories are for the physical objects themselves, not for the game data included on the disc or cartridge. This game data Metroid Prime 4 is what is currently rated RP. There is no rating on the physical release because there is no physical release. The thing shown in the pre-release mockup/stock photo is not the final product and will not be sold as such.

Wouldn't the rating just be updated to the final rating along with the rest of the information in the listing when the game releases?

I don't really see how being physical makes a difference. The case isn't being rated, the game data is. Seems like it would make the most sense to keep everything in the listing up to date as possible.

What instance would the RP rating be used? On digital items only?
