What did you think of the PS5 specs announcement?

Sounds like they're working pretty hard to bring over a lot of PS4 games which would be dope!

Only skimmed through an article about it but it sounds pretty good! :)

Given the PS5 is still slated for release in December, I'm baffled at the lack of info regarding the console regarding launch titles or even what the damn thing is going to look like. Today's presentation was informative, but at the same time it was delivered in probably the most boring way it could have been. I know everyone wants it to be powerful, but very, very few people care to know its specs down to the level of detail they went over them. I went in very excited and about half an hour in I'd tuned the whole thing out and was doing something else with the presentation on in the background. I want to get excited about the PS5, but they really need to deliver on what matters to most people the most and that's the games.

Everyone keeps acting like this was supposed to be an E3-type presentation. It was just a presentation meant for developers, that's why it was all about technical details that the general public won't care about.

Was hoping for more on backwards compatibility, not that I need it to be the entire line, I think people are expecting WAY too much out of that, but since it's not true BC, there will be games that seemingly won't work with this, which could suck for a few games that aren't considered the big important ones.  I need to be able to play my Godzilla 2014 every so often!

I'm mildly surprised that they aren't even fully supporting the PS4 library at launch.  I guess it's a reason to keep your PS4.

I won't be adopting early.

Yeah, this shocked me based on the previous comments about the PS4 and PSVR BC.  Definitely cooled my enthusiasm quite a bit.

I'm still holding out for what the launch library has to offer, but the wind has been taken out of my sails for the PS5 up to this point, at least in regards to getting one around launch :/

I think the biggest concern I have is the announcement of the top 100 PS4 titles being backwards compatible rather than simply all PS4 games - This also diminished hope for a bigger push on PS1, PS2 & PS3 games. Xbox's backwards compatibility could be what wins me over next gen - Another big factor being how the main franchises I like are multiplatform now too.

But if Xbox One ports of current gen games are going to hold more value with BC that's certainly worth considering.

The PS5 Specs are a HUGE leap from the PS4 specs. I'm liking the 825GB SSD. But specs aside I'm really interested to see the design of the console and the launch titles. I would love to see Uncharted 5 or God of War II as a launch title.

What does it take to to support all the PS4 games? I mean the PlayStation 2 and PlayStation 3 was backwards compatible with every  PlayStation 1 game, and the PlayStation 3 was comparable with PlayStation 2 games although many people complained the launch models were overheating.

I still don't get why SONY almost completely dropped Backwards compatibility on the PlayStation 4

I didn't watch or read anything about the PlayStation 5. but it seems SONY is getting lazy and decreasing in their quality vary fast after the PlayStation 3's came out

I'm still planning on buying assuming two things....
 1. It's got at least one game I want to play on it at launch that I can't get on PS4.
 2. It's $500 or less.

The tech overview was about what I expected. What I didn't like was how small the SSD is. I understand why as it's essentially light years ahead of most SSDs out there.... but still. Less than a Terabyte is going to hurt. The only thing outweighing that is that you can upgrade it later and there is external HDD support via USB. I was planning on buying an external for my PS4 games anyway considering that so many games have breached the 100GB mark for install sizes. It's kind of ridiculous.

Yeah, most were expecting to get every bit of detail out of the console, and expectations were high. Guess we might need to wait until CES or E3 to get our first taste of PS5's design.

The video even has over 99K dislikes. I can see why.

I found it funny that people were saying it was a shit presentation.
I think the only people saying it was shit were people who thought it was going to be something akin to an E3 presentation.

It was about showing off the specs of the PS5 to investors and the like, not the average layman or gamer.

I thought it was concise and pretty easy to understand given all the technical jargon, and now i have a pretty good idea of what we're going to expect.
They obviously can't show off a price point yet because, well they're still working on certain aspects of it and won't know until all those aspects are concrete.

While a little on the dry side, i thought it was a pretty good conference  :)

I gave up on the video halfway through & read a synopsis. My takeaway: "so, it's not backwards compatible." Yes, I know it technically is, but as far as I'm concerned, it's 100% or nothing. PS1->PS2, Wii->Wii U, that's stuff I can use. But this partial support, 'more added later' nonsense like Xbox does? Not my style- you expect me to ditch my old system, you best believe I'm gonna be DAMN sure my whole collection still works on the new one. Not most of them, not the most popular ones- ALL OF IT.

For the most part though, I'm not interested in the info they're dropping right now. I know how I am with systems, I'm probably getting both eventually. I just need two things: 1) What games are coming out, to know in which order to buy the systems. 2) Measurements, so I can figure out how I'll fit them into my setup. I can wait until they're ready to tell me that stuff- I'm not in a hurry.

Sony has clarified that the majority of PS4 games will work on PS5, which is good, though some still might have issues as apparently their PS4 mode is actually boosted, so games should actually run better than they did on PS4. https://www.destructoid.com/sony-clarifies-ps5-backward-compatibility-confusion-584095.phtml
