If you cannot sit for almost two hours without sending a text or turning off your phone, you should not go to the movies. I have little sympathy for BS like this. Give me a break.

As long as people shut up and silence their phones during the movies, I don't care if they can text. The whole "people shutting up" thing is not happening though... I say deal with that first, and then let people text.

Maybe the movie studios need to make good movies that keep people interested in them. In my opinion the movie industry has gone to sh*t. I think the problem is that people get bored with the film so they text, email, post update statuses, etc... I think if the film was good people would be focused on the film and not do any of those things.

Although I agree, I still think people are so majorly phone obsessed lately, it wouldnt matter if it was a porn with Jessica Alba and Selena Gomez, some moron out there is going to be on the phone during it.

As far as the actual original topic, Fuck phones during movies. If you cant sit for 2 hours during a movie, you need to wait til the damned thing comes out for home viewing and get it then.

I'm avidly against phones interfering with any event that involves other people. Movies, dining, etc.

One of my big pet peeves is someone using their phone while out to dinner with a group, etc. The entire point of meeting for dinner is to spend time with one another. Texting during movies annoy me even more than texting while dining. Who cares if your phone is on silent, it's still a beacon of light in the middle of the theater. It's distracting to everyone else who paid to be there. If I had my way, you would get kicked out of a movie when an usher sees your phone screen lighting up.

I understand that there are emergencies and such that require immediate attention, but pending that, phones should be all but banned during movies.

Yeah, for the most part I haven't with the exception of the Warren in Moore, OK. I'm a little spoiled since one of the nicest theaters in the US is about 2 miles from my house.

look what movie theaters have nowadays  you can have lunch with your movie not  just junk food and that junk food menu grown to a frightening size plus their is a arcade and i probably haven't listed every you can buy and do at a theaters nowadays

I usually tell people off if their phone is on during them movie. I also tell people to shut up.

I'm an asshole in theaters...but only to inconsiderate assholes.

It doesn't bother me as long as I don't have to see the screen when they are doing it. I'm pretty sure I have texted once or twice but I try to hide the screen from anyone around me.

Alamo Drafthouse or Arclight?  I've heard wonderful things about both of those theaters.

I pretty much agree with everyone here.  Phones should be banned from theaters except for emergencies.  Even texting is annoying because of the distracting light moving around the bottom of your peripheral vision.

I don't understand why people have gotten so self-centered and rude in public; the movie theater is one of the greatest barometers of how much respect for others someone has.  I try to be as kind and courteous to other people as I can when I'm in public and it surprises me how many people act the opposite way.  Perfect example; my phone rang in a theater once and rather than answer it and talk, I was mortified and scrambled to silence the thing.

It's actually a Warren. They're fantastic theaters that are privately owned/operated.

The Moore theater has a really nice IMAX attached to it and private showing rooms/balcony areas which require you to be 21 or older to enter as each person sitting in one of those seats has a waiter assigned to bring you whatever you want (alcohol included).

The seats in the balconies are heated and made from memory foam. The seats below are still very nice. Everything is THX Certified, etc.
