Mobile Game categories added
« on: May 24, 2023, 09:35:40 am »
After a very long time, we have now added the ability to track games on mobile platforms. They are as such:

Mobile
- Android
- iOS
- J2ME
- Windows Appx

Android is for any APK on or off the Google Play Store. We still do not track individual versions, so that info should be put into Notes when you add to your collection

J2ME is for any Java or Java 2 based cell phone game.

Windows Appx is for any Appx game on Windows App Store for desktop or for Windows phone. (these platforms are the same thing, which is why they are considered the same here)
Note: There may already exist some Appx exclusive games in the PC Digital Downloads category that may need to be moved.

Thank you, much appreciated for the categories! I went ahead and added a lot of big name games to the Android category this week. It'll take a long time and a lot of community effort until we have a strong mobile database going.

I went ahead and added a lot of big name games to the Android category this week.

Please refrain from submitting all of a game's web description text that is to be submitted into the Box Text field. For digital items, this information should be limited to 1-2 paragraphs. Appropriate edits should be made to entries that have already been submitted greatly exceeding this limit.

From the style guide:

Quote
Digital Items
Digital items should use 1-2 paragraphs from the "description" or summary text as shown on the platform for the game. It should not include all text. The text used should not be the text from a specific platform's public facing website as viewed on a computer or other device using a web browser.

Nevertheless, we appreciate the help in populating the the Android sub-category!

Would you look at that? I didn't notice this. Such a surprise.

Thank you, much appreciated [...]
