Ratings on Items with Multiple Ratings
« on: December 28, 2023, 07:13:39 pm »
Hey

I had a recent rejected edit on an item because I used the wrong rating (USK) on it, even though it was a general European release ( https://vgcollect.com/item/142190 ). So ELSPA would have been correct since it's not a German exclusive. - This one is clear to me.

I  just created the German entry for Persona 5 Tactica on Switch ( https://vgcollect.com/item/259181 ). Without a second thought I used the USK rating since everything on the box is German and I bought it in Germany.  After creation I saw the PEGI logo on box and after the recent rejected edit I wasn't sure if I need to switch the rating of the entry.

Looking into the Advanced Style Guide and the explanation for ratings with the example of Baten Kaitos, I'd say the info provided is correct (To save the search: https://vgcollect.com/forum/index.php/topic,10837.msg178222.html#msg178222 ). But looking into Baten Kaitos ( https://vgcollect.com/item/151319 ) the rating was changed from USK to PEGI even though this entry is the example for using the USK on multi-rating-entries. Since someone had to approve the edit, I'm not quite sure if I miss something here, the Style Guide should be updated or if the edit should be reversed.

If memory serves correct, I believe I rejected your edit for 142190, which as you understand should prioritize ELSPA over SELL and USK.

I did not respond to 259181 and am not sure who did. According to the style guide, PEGI should be prioritized. From a quick search, the item was also sold in Austria and Switzerland, and perhaps other countries too.

The Baten Kaitos example in the style guide is not a good one because that item was also sold in other countries besides Germany. Therefore, it is not an item exclusive to Germany so should not prioritize USK being submitted to the Rating field.

I will pay more attention if multiple ratings are present. Should the Baten Kaitos example be removed or replaced to a better one?

We want to plan to have the ability to add multiple ratings to an entry, so I do not think it really matters which one is currently present, only that the rating on the entry matches the one on the item.
