Indie Games and Developer/Publisher Options
« on: July 04, 2024, 11:53:23 pm »
I apologize if this has been asked before; I searched and didn't see it.

I have been adding games to my collection and the database from an itch.io bundle and saw that none of the games had the author/developer or publishers on them. I edited to add the author/developer to the developer section and each change was rejected and I was referred to the style guide.

I couldn't find anything relating to indie games and developer/publishing options on the style guide so I'm unsure if I did something wrong or what is the appropriate action for indie game developers. If it's to leave it blank I have no problem doing that, but I want to be helpful if I'm looking at them all anyway.

Thank you, and sorry again if it's been asked before.

I think I may have figured out why I couldn't type one in through adding other games but I am still unsure what to do with indie developers and games, specifically with ones like itch.io

I wasn't the person to reject any developer edits but it sounds like they may not of been submitted to the database. Anything not submitted to the database will show as NA when submitting edits.

To submit new Developers to the database a post should be made in this thread: https://vgcollect.com/forum/index.php/topic,5820.0.html
The request is then reviewed and added to the database so it can be selected.

Thank you! Should I do that for indie games or would it cause a lot of stress/work for you guys to review and edit them? I don't want to create a hassle if it's a person who just has made the one game.

It's a part of DB staff duties to handle such workload. There isn't any hassle, so go ahead and make your requests in the dedicated topic.
