Formatting of names
Game_Name Item_Name item_type (descriptor) [TLD]
where
Game_Name is the name of the game represented
Item_Name is the name of the item as it appears on the physical item if available
item_type should be in lower case and use Standard Terms which will be listed below in the Types section.

Terms that should not be used in the title:
- promotional

Types of items allowed in this category:
Posters

poster
sub-types can exist such as: movie poster, lenticular poster
Generally paper-based posters, however actual movie posters that are made of plastic that are designed for back illumination. Movie posters that are added as items should indicate what type it is.

poster tubes
Some poster sets are packaged in sealed tubes and some have a barcode. Entries for these tubes can be made, but the front/back image should be of the tube itself and not a picture of the posters inside. Each individual poster can have its own entry and use the description to indicate what tube it came from.

fabric poster
Fabric/cloth posters, maps that are specifically sold as such.

wall scroll

translite
These are plastic posters that are designed after pinball cabinet back-glass but are for display purposes and not for use in an actual pinball machine. Often these are given away as prizes at pinball tournaments.

Framed Art
Framed wall art that can include these sub-types
- lithograph
- print
- animation cell

Promotional Materials
Promotional materials are typically not readily available to the public. These ususally end up in the secondary market due to these products being back-doored/stolen, found in the garbage or sold in liquidation sales.

standee
- counter standee
- floor standee
Cardboard constructed materials of any size

display box
Display box are fake boxes used to advertise a product. Often they look like an oversized version of the retail packaging, however they can also just be large box-shaped advertisements that do not look like a game or system box. This is not to be confused with display boxes for regular game releases, that can have the media inside but are not originally used for that purpose. These types of boxes would go into the appropriate accessory category for the console the box is for.

backer card
format: Media_Title backer card

Sometimes called backboard, backer board, etc. These do not have an actual confirmed name associated with them as the different promotional companies that supplied them used different terms. We will use the term backer card to refer to them. These are cardboard or plastic cards that would go behind videos or games at a video rental store, to indicate what item was on the shelf but is currently sold/rented out.

Description should include the platform and company branding if present.

banner
Banners are either large paper or cloth posters that were used in retail to promote something. The cloth types typically will have metal rings as you would see on a flag for pole or support mounting.

sign
Any sort of signage

flyer
Flyers (aka handbills) for individual video games, arcade games or pinball games.

Items not allowed
- pages removed from a magazine or book to make something, such as posters or individual advertisements
- unique animation cels cut from actual film or other stages in animation production.

Entry Name
Entry name formatting should be prioritized in this order: spine, title page, front cover. If there are numerous title names, those lower in priority can be supplied to the Alt-Name field. It is also fine to clarify in the Description field that the spine title or front page title is being used as the entry name—something straightforward such as title name on spine/title page will suffice. Example: Doom II Survival Guide

There are few items which warrant the use of entry name edition formatting with a hyphen. Below are examples with typical formatting errors and how they should instead be presented:
incorrect name: God of War II - BradyGames Signature Series Guide
correct name: God of War II
incorrect name: Castlevania: Lament of Innocence - Official Strategy Guide
correct name: Castlevania: Lament of Innocence Official Strategy Guide

Items with the same name should use entry name descriptors just like entries in other categories.
Example: Banjo-Kazooie (Nintendo Power), Banjo-Kazooie (Prima)

Entry names should prioritize the item's localized name. If translated names also appear, they can be submitted to the Alt-Name field.
Example: Biohazard 4 Kanzen Kouryaku Guide

ISBN and Barcodes
ISBN information may be supplied to the Item Number field but should be formatted exactly as it appears. If both EU and NA details are present, NA should be prioritized.

Multiple barcodes representing different regions is common. NA barcode sequences (typically UPC but occasionally EAN) should be prioritized for the Barcode field.

Nearly all books from Japan feature two different JAN barcode sequences: one relating to its ISBN and the other relating to its market price. The sequence beginning with 978 should be prioritized as Barcode field information. More information about these barcode types can be found at the bottom of this page in the JAN codes for Books section. http://www.n-barcode.com/en/shurui/jan.html

Any additional ISBN or barcode sequence that is not formally submitted to their respective field can be submitted to the Description field.
Example: BloodRayne 2

Description
The Description field should not mention that a guide is intended to be used for a game of a specific platform. Often, this information appears on the item itself and therefore can be supplied to the Box Text field.
Example: Batman: Vengeance Official Strategy Guide (PlayStation 2)
