I was pretty split on Nintendo and Sega as a kid, I had an NES, then got a Genesis at some point, pretty sure it wasn't new, much like the NES, and then it was Nintendo 64, and so on. Didn't have an SNES, but my buddy had one I played off and on, that was a system I rented from my video store once in awhile when I could. Loved coming home with a console in a big black protector case lol
After that I played a Sega Saturn at my other buddies house, I funnily enough, thought it was a Sega CD all these years, but just checked that it was a Saturn, because I specifically remember playing Battle Arena Toshinden on it, which isn't on Sega CD lol
Did remember playing a Dreamcast for a short bit of time at someone else's house, pretty sure it was Street Fighter Alpha 3. It's interesting to think of a lot of systems I played, but never owned, like I love PS1, but never owned one back then, I would play games down at my local card store like Tomb Raider, Crash Bandicoot, Twisted Metal 2, Tekken 3 at that store. Buddy had a PS1 and I played FF7 with him on it.
