Big Box Wii Party Mystery -- Please help!
« on: August 23, 2026, 06:09:17 pm »
I recently decided I'm going all in for a 100% complete "Wii Series" set. Today I opened up my Big Box version of Wii Party that I bought on eBay and I've had for a while (comes with a Wii Remote) and found out that the "extra piece of cardboard" is actually a box for a *second Wii remote.* That begs the question, which one of these is the actual Wii Remote that came with the bundle (jacketed, no box or boxed, no jacket) and which one is an extra one that somehow found its way in here. Also, if the actual one is the jacketed one then where did this extra Wii remote box originate (as it has an official manufacturing code etched into it). Here's photos. https://imgur.com/a/fddu8Dj

Thanks for your help and happy Wii-ing.

OK..after doing some research I think what happened is that the cardboard box is correct it's just the jacket was removed from the wii remote inside and for some reason an extra remote was added.

Unfortunately, I've not been able to find any trending evidence for an answer myself, using eBay and YouTube alone. Although this item may or may not include a WIi Remote Controller Operations Manual too, based on the one open copy I observed.

Unless where doing matching serial numbers which some consoles do thank god most regions don't  :P  what's the point of having the correct controller that originally came inside the box?

wouldn't any generic white wii controller do or am I missing something. what's the difference

The question being asked is whether the included controller is either loose, paired with a jacket, or contained in its own box. Knowing the difference constitutes whether the entire package is actually complete or not.

if we are going off european sets and other usa sets like the wii u version of simular controller bundles.

They did not have a standlone retail wii controller box just a matching loose controller with a jacket and some sealed batteries

you just have a layer of protective packaging for it and nothing else and the manual for what it's worth. i guess the plastic baggie for the manual could be missing :o

there are plenty of sales listings, if it truly had some kinda box it would have been shown. but again simular bundles with better pics having nothing either.

The item in question concerns the US release for one specific item. Trying to compare it to another regional release or another item altogether isn't helpful. Conclusions can only be made by observing items individually.

It's clear that the box that clairesgames has supplied with photo evidence is not a retail box but instead a box within a box. I've only been able to identify two opened copies of this specific variant—by no means are there "plenty" copies to observe at this moment. With that said, neither of those listings show this inner box, though they easily could have been discarded. In time, it's likely that more concrete conclusions can be made, but that will require waiting for more open copies to be listed on secondary markets.

I strongly disagree with not comparing different products when they literally do the same thing, controller bundle + game of a very simular series with comparable advertisment. they will match in most cases it's a very logical assumption to make.

those other items have the very same shape and all don't come with boxes. you can assume that it will most likely match all those other examples. not guaranteed but it probably is the same we got tons of items that have matching packaging there is often a pattern. and I've seen far more than 2 listings of the us wii party.  check old solds and use different sites and you'll get far more examples. none show boxes if it was that notable and since it doesn't go for dirt cheap if it had a box some listings would have shown it.

only thing the above guy is missing is the plastic baggie for the controller manual from the looks of it.

also in terms of the insides those are just cardboard inserts. and or could be stuck to the box but I'd assume you guys meant an actual box and not just cardboard inserts which all those other variants will have aswell to make it fit and not have a ton of empty space.

found a solid USA copy for ye

no box, just a cardboard insert that's stuck to the box hence why none show a box in their listings. you really need to look better if you can just find 2 copies ma guy I've seen like 10+  :o

still considering what prices these go for i highly doubt none of em had this imaginary box and never showed em

Sure, assumptions can be made. But obtaining objective fact cannot rely on assumptions only. For instances like these, what's needed to be done is to observe numerous boxed copies and notate what all is present for each individual listing. Then after an adequate number of copies have been observed, logical conclusions can be made after noticing trends.

also in terms of the insides those are just cardboard inserts.

The item being referenced is very much some sort of box made of paperboard material. The second controller mentioned that's wrapped in some sort of plastic sleeve is contained within it.

Were you really expecting me to spend so much effort and time on this? It's not a question directly being asked for a database entry, so I only dedicated so much time answering. Like I said, I've only identified two opened copies on eBay, which is overwhelmingly the majority secondary marketplace for the US. With that said, if you've been able to identify ten instances of this exact boxed item, then perhaps clairesgames would be interested in seeing them to make their own conclusions. Ten acceptable examples seems plenty, but obviously more will always be better.
