VGCollect APP (development ongoing)
« on: October 09, 2026, 04:59:17 am »
Hi everyone!
I’m developing an app for Android and iOS—primarily for my own needs, but if you want for everyone else too.

What features do you need/wish? Feel Free to write it.

Right now, it includes collection import/export, collection and detail views, console filters, search, and statistics (currently just numbers and platforms... what else would you like?).

Next steps already in the works: adding games via the app, web syncing, and login.

P.S.: If the admins aren't okay with this, please let me know.
P.S. 2: If I need info like APIs or cURL URLs, who should I ask?

I hope you’ll be happy with it.

hello, can someone (if interested) answer here? https://vgcollect.com/forum/index.php/topic,13231.0.html

Keep all discussion in the appropriate topic. Everyone—whether they're interested in your project or not—is aware of it.

If your latest post is related to gaining specific development answers, then just be patient. There is only one person who can answer those questions, who is jason like I said.

Using site scraping methods for your app are not going to be ideal. You should formally request access to or creation of an API in which to interface with.
When we figure out how to properly handle the botting issue, site scrapers are going to end up getting blocked, so unless your app is specifically going to be designed to use the collection export CSV or a future API, the longevity of such a project could be an issue.

I don't do scraping, I'm a developer... not a kid.

As things stand: I’m using the CSV file for filling the list, and I trigger the search by pressing a button (so, not with every keystroke) or shooting a code.

Regarding other matters—as mentioned in the comments above—I’ve reached out to Jason twice, but haven’t received a response; I was contacting him specifically about the APIs.

Consequently, I’m stuck when it comes to things like logging in, adding a game to the library, and so on.
