Now, 21 and I dont feel to much different. All I have to do is wait for my Friend to make his rum, and it'll be my first alcohol since turning 21.

It doesn't taste as good once it's legal  :P

Happy Birthday bud!  I found like disgaeniac, alcohol isn't as fun when you can legally consume it.  In any event, cheers and I hope you didn't get too F'd up!   :P

Happy birthday, enjoy the convenience of being able to buy your own booze. :D

Why is legal drinking age so high in 'Murica anyways? It's only 19 for most of Canada, or 18 for Quebec, Alberta, and Manitoba.

I don't know.

We can be drafted at 18 but, need to wait 3 more years to legally have a drink...Go figure.

I think the drinking age in America is too low. You should have to be 80 to drink. Cause who gives a shit what it does to your body after that point.

Our "fine" country is bass-ackwards. And this upcoming election is only going to make it more screwed up.

If I am not mistaken the reason the drinking age is so high is because of many studies done on alcohol. I haven't researched it in many years but I believe the 2 major studies that caused the age to be 21 were that 1. our brains continue to grow and develop till around the 19-21 year range and specifically overindulging on alcohol can stunt/damage that development and/or 2. you generally make better decisions as you age. leading to less binge drinking at 21 than say 18 and also lesser of a chance of things like drunk driving in the 2 same age groups.

Also do not forget about the American Prohibition which also was a major factor.

Again I have not looked up these studies in many years so I may be mistaken but I believe those were SOME of the primary reasons it is 21 in America.

Also my father tells me tales of going over to Iowa for booze when he was 18 because that was the legal drinking age in iowa about 35-40 years ago so 21 is really a relatively recent thing

Oh geez....lets not get the politics going again!  I almost drove us off a cliff the other day with the mere mention and tried my best to forget I said it in the first place.   :-X

But as for legal drinking age, everything in America is screwed up when it comes to age requirements and other legalities.  At 16, you can acquire a drivers license with barely any testing.  You can get a permit even earlier at 15.  Sorry, but teenagers are dumbasses and need to have a lot more drivers ed!  You can buy cigarettes at 18.  You can be in porno or buy porn at 18.  But you can't drink booze until you are 21.  But boy, they sure are ready to have you register for Selective Service!  You better not neglect to do that shit!

More like, you can go fight in a war at 18, and can't drink till your 21. Though American Males have to sign up for selective service, the odds of a draft going into effect anytime soon is super low. I mean, the only way i see it happening is a WW3, and well, i dont really see that happening soon.

And states like NJ, want to raise the smoking age to 21... and we are talking tobacco , and not weed.

Sorry I haven't been around much recently (again)  :-\ Things have been a bit crazy for a few months now, and I'm kinda losing my breath. I'm still trying my best to keep track of what's going on around the community, answer questions and socialize!

On another note, the new Good Smile Company 1/7 Skyward Sword Link figure looks absolutely amazing, I can't wait to have more info! If he's not over $100 I'll probably get him. We'll see!

The shading is just incredible:

Aw you never have to apologize - we all have lives to lead, after all!  Hope things mellow out for you soon - there are a lot of great games this year to play after all!  ;D

While we are on the subject of things that are screwed up in America, what is so friggin' taboo about showing a boobie?  Everyone is perfectly fine with bodies getting blown to bloody chunks and other gory crap.  But oh no, no boobies allowed!  And that's just the smallest part, genitals are completely off limits!

And I don't get it.  No matter what religion you are, the heavenly father figure (I'm being vague so as to not offend anyone) put said sexual parts on men & women.  If you are an atheist, that's cool too.  Humans are turned on by these natural body parts and want to copulate.  Religion or no religion, sex is one of the most perfectly natural things in the world.  As normal and natural as breathing, eating and taking a dump.  So why is it so taboo?

Like rayne said, folks in NJ would just drive across the state line to NY back in the day as the drinking ages were 21 and 18, respectively.

All I'll say on politics is:
