Alright, enough of this. If anything this shows why we should keep politics off the boards. Agree to disagree.
Awwww. This is more discussion than this board has seen in the past year alone.
Let's just peel back one layer of this onion. Say you didn't have the guns to go to war with "the government". What exactly does "the government" in theory do to you, since you can't defend yourself? I'd love to know what diabolical plans they have in store for you. At least the ones swirling around in your head.

Okay:
I already pointed out many times in history when the government has had anything but the people's interest at heart. Roman Empire, British Empire, Soviet Union, Iraq, China, South Africa, and on and on. The U.S. government is not immune. Especially when we have openly crooked politicians (Trump, Biden covering up for his son, Hilary's emails, Epstein island, Nixon, etc.). And we have growing factions pushing for socialism.
But let's say we did have all altruistic politicians that were in it for the betterment of the country rather than the betterment of themselves. I would still believe in power over the government rather than power over the people. I would still believe in the 2nd amendment. Because the best government can still go bad. And once a government does succeed in taking away gun rights, they aren't coming back.
