Okay so here's my biggest complaint about the original Switch and I don't know if it was changed for the Switch 2. I don't know like anybody really cares about this as much as I do, but I don't understand why you can't just turn the system off. It can only be put in sleep mode, which is stupid for a portable system. It means that if you're taking the Switch on a trip, it's steadily losing battery life at all times, even if you aren't playing it.

My wife's Switch Lite is always 100% dead if she wants to play it because, unless you leave that thing on a charger 24/7, it's going to lose battery over time. I don't know what they were thinking.

You hold the power button, which brings up the option to power it off completely, that's what I always do for mine and you can do this when docked or not docked.

Something else to note if a game/ the console completely freezes, just hold down the power button for I believe 10 or so seconds and the system will completely reboot. Personally haven't had to use that since early on in the Switch's life but still good to know.

Insured my collection today. It was long overdue.  Feels less naked feeling tbh.  I know many of you have said before you opened a line or asked for coverage via homeowners insurance but I had to take a secondary insurer.  Never thoight id be this deep in the hobby but I suppose we're over that horizon lol.

As long as your collection isn't The Flea sized (or I suppose even a quarter that lol), your home or renters insurance should cover the value, assuming you don't have a lot of other high value, non-video game property. I'm under contract on a house right now so there has been a lot of discussion about home owners insurance recently. and my default policy covers like $350k in personal property damage inside the house. That includes everything from furniture, appliances, electronics, and anything else that's not nailed to the home itself. I didn't even have to ask for that, but I'm sure every insurance company is different. I explicitly asked about my game collection which according to Price Charting is worth ~$120k and they said that would be covered as long as I don't have another $230k in assets, which I don't.

I actually dont own the home I live in, I sort of got grandfathered in because the landlord and my family are essentially family at this point. I worked for my landlord for many years as teenager before my current job and been here 20 years. He's almost like another Uncle to me and I pay 1980s rent prices and in MA thats important lol.  so I always felt compelled to not seek a home yet although I dont rule it out forever.  But that means the home owner insurance my landlord has would cover property and damages to structure and things he's resonsible for and owns but id need tenants apartment insurance for my belongings.  But those insurance packs typically cost more than the simple collectors insurance I got.

The policy I got covers theft, water (both internal and external) and fire.  45/mo.  I found it prettt fair.  Because I have it up to 105k to allow for wiggle room as it grows or inflates. My collection of games is 45k but I have 94k total including my other collections like toys, vinyl, books and militaria.

The company I chose is CIS.  From my research its what a lot of comic and game collectors go with. I read thousands of stories of people actually being made whole and promptly too.  A few bad stories like any insurer but mostly solid and good ratings from insurance scouts.

But what ive been told is in the event of a claim. Id have to prove I owned each single game that I have insured. And in what state (loose, boxed, cib)  I cant just take a photo of the bookshelves because a appraiser could argue "how do we know the discs are in there?" so that means im literally gonna have to take 3 pictures of every single game I own or at least large lots of them laid out on my bed.  Which quite frankly is gonna be a pain in the rump.regions lol.  But im gonna start doing that.  Along with saving as many reciepts on a drive as possible.  So they cant wiggle some loophole God forbid.

That is actually really cool though that home owners insurance covers your collectibles as well. Esp at that amount. Ive seen many insurers wont cover internal property over 10k without an extra policy inclusion.  Sounds like you got a great deal if its included with the home.
