Heroes of the East, AKA Shaolin Challenges Ninja, AKA Shaoliin Vs. NinjaA neat 1978 movie I got on VHS last year. Basically, a man sets up an arrange marriage for his son, a Chinese martial artist, with a Japanese girl who turns out to be very good at Japanese martial arts. But, they end up fighting over various things, the biggest of which is who's country is better at martial arts... The girl leaves after losing all her matches (boo) and the dude is an idiot about it. He sends her a letter challenging her to prove that her country's martial arts are better than China's. The letter is seen by her mentor... which takes that as a challenge for the whole country. Oops.
The rest of the movie is the guy preparing for, and fighting against real Japanese martial art styles, and they're all displayed very fairly. I mean, yeah, the guy wins all the fights. But he doesn't win as easily as you'd think. Wikipedia says that the director used real Japanese experts, which was also pretty interesting. You can definitely see how much planning went into the fights. A+ for action, C+ for the guy being a total idiot.
