Revisiting anime favorites with Code Geass, Witch Hunter Robin, and Gurren Lagann. Sort of a mini-tribute to Bandai?

I'm doing the same only with Kurokami and Full Metal Panic!.

Nice! I haven't seen Kurokami, but FMP is one of my all-time favorites.

I suck at reviewing, but I loved this film.

It's also kinda funny because I found the first DVD release of this on Tuesday, sealed, and passed on it. Then I saw this on Wednesday and bought it to watch it today.

Don't judge. I like it.

When I was a kid, I used to hold my cassette recorder to the television speakers to record the music to that movie. I would then listen to my homemade soundtrack on the bus with my walkman.

There is no way I could possibly judge you just watching it.

I didn't go that far...but I recorded it on VHS off of HBO or something when I was younger :)

Dungeonmaster (1985)

So terrible. So incredibly terrible. It's obviously a low-budget movie from the terrible special effects and laugh-out-loud costumes. The story is hokey, and the acting seems like it's from a local high school drama club. Don't ever come near this movie.

I was curious because I had heard it starred Blackie Lawless, who is the lead-singer of the 80s band W.A.S.P. "Starred" is used loosely as he has a small role.

Just recently finished the Valkyria Chronicles series (didn't know it existed until recently) and have now moved on to Kurozuka.  Dark and effed up anime FTW.   8)

Heroes of the East, AKA Shaolin Challenges Ninja, AKA Shaoliin Vs. Ninja

A neat 1978 movie I got on VHS last year. Basically, a man sets up an arrange marriage for his son, a Chinese martial artist, with a Japanese girl who turns out to be very good at Japanese martial arts. But, they end up fighting over various things, the biggest of which is who's country is better at martial arts... The girl leaves after losing all her matches (boo) and the dude is an idiot about it. He sends her a letter challenging her to prove that her country's martial arts are better than China's. The letter is seen by her mentor... which takes that as a challenge for the whole country. Oops.

The rest of the movie is the guy preparing for, and fighting against real Japanese martial art styles, and they're all displayed very fairly. I mean, yeah, the guy wins all the fights. But he doesn't win as easily as you'd think. Wikipedia says that the director used real Japanese experts, which was also pretty interesting. You can definitely see how much planning went into the fights. A+ for action, C+ for the guy being a total idiot.
