Top 10 movies
« on: January 12, 2013, 01:19:47 pm »
I know there are a lot of threads in here but I figured Id add one more. Darko will tell you my taste in movies sucks so I need to broaden my horizons and learn what other people like.

Here are my favorites (in no particular order) :
Saw series
Dont say a word
Knights tale
Craft
8 mile
Seven
Hellride
Friday series
Ted
Marvel movies
Krull
Mortal Kombat 1&2
Dungeons and Dragons series
3000 miles to Graceland
Harry Potter series

The types of movies I really dont care too much for are most comedies (Will Ferrell and the like are idiots) Gangster movies, Military movies, chick flicks. Most everything else Id give a try.

Here's some favorites of mine. I'm a big sci-fi fan, which really shows in my list.

No way I could put them in order of greatest to least greatest as that changes with my mood, heck even trying to narrow down this list is hard enough as it is without putting them in order, and I won't be able to keep it to just 10, sorry, I've watched way to many movies in my time:

-Anchorman
-Back to the Future Trilogy
-Batman (1989)
-Batman Begins
-Conan the Barbarian & The Destroyer
-The Crow
-Dawn of the Dead (Original & Remake)
-Day of the Dead (Original ONLY, the remake (in name only) was TERRIBLE)
-Demolition Man
-Detroit Rock City
-First Blood
-Ghostbusters 1 & 2
-Grandma's Boy
-Half-Baked
-Hook
-Independence Day
-Iron Man
-League of Extraordinary Gentlemen
-The Lord of the Rings Trilogy
-The Lost Boys
-The Monster Squad
-A Nightmare on Elm Street series (Awful remake not included)
-Predator 1 & 2
-Robocop
-Shaun of the Dead
-Sin City
-Starship Troopers
-Star Trek Movies (1, 2, 3, Generations, and First Contact in particular)
-Terminator 1 & 2
-Universal Soldier
-X2: X-Men United

Hmm... That might actually be a bit easier to figure out than my top 10 games (which has well over a hundred games in it).... But even then it always depends on my mood at the time, and whether or not I remember certain films.

Movies sure to make the top 10 are Back to the Future and Ghostbusters, but otherwise.... I'd need to spend days thinking about it.

These are far from the 10 best. They are my 10 favorite.

1) Terminator 2
2) Gattaca
3) Ferris Beuller's Day Off
4) Lost in Translation
5) Robocop
6) 10 Things I Hate About You (shut up!)
7) Alien
8) Star Trek 8: First Contact
9) Shawshank Redemption
10) American Beauty

Could easily be swapped with some of the above depending on mood

Das Boot
Mel Brooks History of the World
Blade Runner
Planes, Trains, and Automobiles

This. This movie is awesome, love it. And I don't really care for him either and think 90% of his stuff is garbage. I do enjoy Elf and Anchorman on occasion though...

6.  Dancer in the Dark
7.  Metropolis (1927)

Soera's movie tastes are total shit :)

1. Lost in Translation
2. Donnie Darko
3. The Royal Tennenbaums
4. American Beauty
5. Blood Simple
6. Beautiful Girls (No, it's not a porno.)
7. Citizen Kane
8. The Graduate
9. The Ice Storm
10. Let the Right One In (Swedish film remade as "Let Me In" in the US...I like the Swedish version slightly more.)

My top 3 are always my top 3...other than that, things change from time to time.

I like comedies such as Anchorman & Grandma's Boy quite a bit as well as superhero movies such as Iron Man and Batman. However, for a film to make it into my top 10 it has to leave an impression. These are all movies that left me thinking "holy shit" when the credits started to roll.

Let the Right One In is crazy good. One of the only vampire movies I really like. It's not a scary movie, but it is totally creepy throughout.
