I just got an email from XSEED announcing this game for a summer 2014 release.  It's coming to both PS3 & Vita.  Here's their description:

Quote
In AKIBA'S TRIP: Undead & Undressed, players work to repel a brooding malevolence from Tokyo's popular electronics district, Akihabara (Akiba for short), which has been painstakingly remodeled in the game to resemble its real life counterpart. Akiba has been invaded by creatures known as "Synthisters," who prey like vampires on the otaku patrons of Akihabara, but feast on their will to live and energy to socialize rather than their blood. Only direct exposure to sunlight can destroy the Synthisters, and it's up to players to ensure that that's just what they get. If only it weren't for those pesky clothes protecting them from the sun's harmful rays...

That's where players come in. It's their task to roam this sanctuary of anime and gaming fanatics, identify the outwardly human Synthisters with the help of a handy smartphone app, and then beat and pull at them until they've been relieved of their clothes, exposing them to sunlight and sending them to the netherworld. Everyday objects from baseball bats to comic books to motherboards can be used as weapons, and players can take their enemies' unique clothing for their own personal use as well.

Sounds nuts.  :P  Here's their teaser trailer, as well as another clip showing some of the Japanese combat gameplay.  It actually reminds me of Yakuza a bit with the setting.  Looks fun!   ;D

Do you mean CONception 2?  If so, then I agree!  :)

Totally picking this up. I love these quirky stupid games :P

I was actually looking at importing the japanese version, but it's gonna be much cheaper to get the english version and I'll actually understand it.

Not sure about Conception 2, I'll check out the demo that's gonna pop up on march... 26th I think?

The email I got from Atlus said the 25th on Conception II. I currently have it preordered... like every other Atlus RPG that pops up. Not sure if I'll keep it or not, since it's not SMT/Persona/Etrian Odyssey. I'll check out the demo for sure.

While the game looks ... interesting, its definitely not a jrpg and the play style doesnt look like something I would thoroughly enjoy.

Are you talking about Akiba's Trip, Conception 2, and/or both?

XSEED describes it as an RPG in their email:

Quote
We are happy to announce today that we will be releasing the flashy, wild action RPG title, AKIBA'S TRIP: Undead & Undressed, on the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system and PlayStation®Vita handheld entertainment system in summer 2014.

Doesn't have to be turn-based to be an RPG, y'know.  ;)

I disagree - JRPG = Japanese RPG.  Doesn't matter if it's traditional turn-based, strategy, action or even Rogue-like.  :)  The Y's series, Secret of Mana even Phantasy Star Online - all JRPGs.

You may be particular, but I'm *very* stubborn.  ;)  :D

I get what you are saying. But that would classify every RPG as a JRPG.

JRPG - Mostly traditional turn based rpg. Dragon warrior type games.
SRPG - Strategy RPG. Chess styled fight style. Final fantasy tactics type games.
ARPG - Action RPG. Mostly an adventure game with experience. Ys/Valkyrie profile type games.
WRPG - Western RPG. Sort of a D&D pen and paper experience on a game. Elder scrolls type games.
MMORPG - Massive multiplayer online RPG. Self explanitory. Everquest/WOW type games.
H&SRPG - Hack and slash RPG. Dungeon crawlers with a single storyline. Baldur's gate type games.
Roguelike - Sort of a mix between action and H&S with some JRPG added. Diablo/Torneko type games.

The only style of RPG I simply do not like is SRPG.

I can live with this as an "In a nutshell" breakdown.
