Protecting retail boxes?
« on: February 23, 2011, 04:20:43 pm »
I've got a few complete Game Boy games coming and was looking for a way to protect them from surface scratches and minor damage. Any suggestions?

What are the dimensions of the box?

I bought these for my NES boxes:

I highly recommend them for any boxed games. I'll try to work out the dimensions for other formats and see what they have. I know they do custom sizes as well.

I'm gonna have to take some measurements. I don't know off hand.

I'm going to need to get some of these soon. A bunch for Game Boy size boxes, then a couple NES, SNES and N64 ones.

I bought some for NES boxes off ebay a few months ago. I believe I got 10-12 for $10. They are quite nice and I'm 99% sure they were originally made/ordered from that site.

I think I might just get some off of ebay as well. Apparently the SNES and N64 boxes are the same size, so... two birds. ha

@darko Would you happen to have 3 extra ones you'd be willing to part with?

@scott Sorry but I've already used all of the ones I have. I need to order more and was going to do it sooner than later. I can hook you up when they arrive.

Sweet man, thanks. I'll only need 3 for the NES castlevanias when I get them. Not really worth it to buy a 10 pack.

I've considered using comic book sleeves to protect against dust/scratching.  They are pretty darn cheap and can easily be taped/cut to fit but obviously won't prevent crushing.

The boxes matt got were really nice and fit his NES games like a glove. I'm sure they would still crush if something heavy landed on them, but they protect from random scuffs and such and are rigid.

I'll need to buy snes protectors for 4 games; that would leave 6 left over that I'd likely never use. Not sure when I'd get them though, I need game boy size ones first.
