Greg -

You familiar with "Racketboy"?

I've known him to make some much more realistic & insightful listings of such things on-line before...it may be worth it for you to give him a 'Google'  8)

Well, I'm thinking that in addition to contributing ideas for these imports, I can also create a Google Doc to store the info on these games with pricing ranges( price+shipping) from websites as well to give a better feel on how much the real cost of importing this stuff, since there pretty few shops that have a good selection of import games, especially from the last couple of generations.

Very cool - I have very few sources that I know of for imports, so I'd love to see some others as well as some general prices. :)
Well, I'll try my best! I know quite a bit of sites for imports, but finding good pricing for this stuff can be all over the place since I'm going to use the general route of purchases for imports. I'll also have to note how that there quite a number of imports for the X360 that are region-locked, so I'll also list pricing based on getting a Japanese X360 for anyone who's interested in purchasing one( including me).  8)
And Racketboy is a good site for finding a majority of import lists, although I don't think they have any import lists for the 360& PS3.

In terms of truly rare games, I think there only around two dozen or so between the two consoles, with most being budget titles that saw limited release by smaller publishers. But here are a few that I would say range from uncommon to rare:

PS3
Ni No Kuni Wizard Edition (NTSC-version)
Afrika
Lord of The Rings Conquest
Under Defeat HD
NBA Elite 11 (ULTRA RARE!!)
Uncharted 2: Hunter's Edition (the one with the dagger)
No More Heroes
Demon's Souls Deluxe Edition
King of Fighters XII
Tales of Symphonia Collectors Edition

360
Akai Katana
Konami Classics (vol. 1 and 2)
Raiden Fighters Aces
Samurai Showdown Sen
Bullet Witch

That's pretty helpful, thanks! :) A couple of the PS3 games you mentioned are on my "want" list but I didn't realize they were somewhat scarce (LotR Conquest & KoF XII). LotR is at the GS near where I work, I've looked at it several times now on my lunch break - guess I need to snatch it up before someone else does. According to the inventory tracker that same store has KoF XII as well, but I haven't looked at it.

Yeah, KOF12 had bad reviews combined with small distribution so it isn't easy to find. It is definitely one of the weakest entries in the series, but it's cheap.

I'm not talking about Collector's Editions - we all know about Ni no Kuni Wizard's Edition & super rare CE's like the ones for Kingdoms of Amalur, Drakengard 3 or Uncharted 2. But the actual games in those sets are identical to the very common ones sold individually, so it's really the extras that are rare - not the games.

So what games truly rare or at least uncommon yet?  These are the ones off the top of my head, and I'd call these more uncommon than rare:

PS3:
Marvel Ultimate Alliance 1&2
Afrika
Cross Edge

360:
Marvel Ultimate Alliance Gold
...maybe Culdcept Saga or Bullet Witch?

I agree, regular standard edition Uncharted 2 is rare. Well, I've not been able to find the one without all the crap over top of the artwork. That does seem to be rare.

As for 360, one that has always been rare due to a short print run is Destroy All Humans (I think it's considered part 3)? Seems like Blue Dragon is an uncommon game. PS3 I'm not sure.

Really, there exists a cheat sheet for this now, you can use VG Chartz to research the lowest sales records and finding out which decent games sold like crap. Takes a bit of the guess work out of it. Taking a glace right now, I can see than Akai Katana, Inversion, Murdered Soul Suspect, Morph X, Fist of The North Star 2, Operation Darkness, EDF 2017, etc, all sold terribly on 360. I take basically any single digit, and especially lower single digit sales record as an indication of uncommon, possibly rare.

That's a good idea, I'll have to check that out. :)

I've found that a lot of very early (I'd say year 1) games in the PS3's life cycle are uncommon in my area, especially complete. I found one tonight that I've been looking for for months now - Full Auto 2. Had found it disk only a couple of times but never complete. Saw it pop up on the inventory tracker at the closest store to my house, so I checked it out on my way home & was very pleasantly surprised to see it not only complete but in excellent condition. :)

Granted, I attribute some of that to the fact that GS probably gives next to nothing in trade-in credit for games like that now (they sold it for $3, so they probably gave a quarter for it?). But at the same time, the install base was pretty small so there probably weren't a ton of copies of it sold either.

I contemplated mentioning the same thing. Anything pre-2010 in a GS is rare to find complete due to them pricing the older games out the system, not worth the trade-in anymore. So it could indicate legit rarity, or maybe just GS rarity. But yeah, those older 7th gen games are more elusive seemingly, especially launch and year 1-2 games.

What...the what?  :o

I just saw complete copy of Cross Edge at Gamestop a couple of weeks back for $19 and I just looked up SOLD listings on ebay selling for as low as $5.50 +shipping. But the BIN crowd is trying to get $40 for it.

That's about what I thought that a cib copy of CE was going for.

I'm not sure if that link is supposed to reflect used game prices or sealed ones...even for sealed copies, I still think that their #'s aren't even close to being realistic; if they were, though - I wish to God that I had their buyer / customer lists  :P

NBA Elite 11 was canceled. Do people have development copies cause a final version in a box wouldn't exist?

Nordic Games has re-released a bunch of THQ games, Path of Furon being one of them if that's the Destroy All Humans game you are referring to. I'm not sure about the cover art though, it seems some games they've left as is and some they've added the Nordic Games logo on the cover alongside the THQ logo.
