Marth & Lucina, I mix and match with the two really. 

I have fun with Mr. Game & Watch, Duck Hunt Duo & R.O.B. too

N64: I usually main Samus. I don't have a sub, but I can hold my own with anyone.
Melee: Marth is my best character, I also enjoy using Pichu, Falco, and Mewtwo.
Brawl: Marth again as the main, with R.O.B., Luigi, Pit, Falco and Samus as subs.
Smash U: Mega Man is my new main. Marth, Mewtwo, Luigi, R.O.B. and Palutena act as my subs.

Wii: Mr Game and Watch or Olimar
Wii U: Mr Game and Watch or Lemmy

Generally I pick random though.
