NES game variant discovery

So I was browsing at a local game store on my lunch break today when something caught my eye.  They had a copy of Bases Loaded with Jaleco on the end label in blue.  This didn't seem right, so I pulled out my phone and checked the database.  The only copy we had listed was the orange label.  I assume nobody cares, since old sports games are generally worthless, but this was new to me.   I did create a new listing for the variant though.

That's pretty cool. Also Ken Griffy JR is still my favorite old Baseball game.

Was I ever looking for them? I've heard of them, but never actively searched them out. Though I am more interested in finding out which one was most common in the Nintendo Power version.

I think the Dragon Warriors are different color yellows on the end label.

Ya there is Yellow, Gold and Butterscotch. I think is what we have them listed as.

Im Acually really impressed with RBI Baseball 94 for the genesis, just the animation in that game is great, and I plays pretty well too

I just recently heard about the "variant" myself. I cant get into stuff like that. I really didnt even want to buy any of the dragon warrior games on the NES cause I have them on the GBC/DS. Any other series I dont buy multiple copies of (Final fantasy on NES/SNES vs PS1 for example).

In doing a little research, the variant I found is also the round seal vs. oval seal variant too.  The one with Jaleco in orange is the round seal, and Jaleco in blue is the oval seal.

Speaking of variants, I keep seeing people mention something called Rev-A ... what the hell is that?

Basically different prints of games. These were marked as "Rev-A", "Rev-B", and so on. They could mean a lot of things, either different code, different packaging, different label...

And heh. Be grateful you don't live in Europe, where they had to deal with NES region locking...
