I decided to check out an estate sale advertising electronics and left quite pleased. I left with the following, all for free:
- Talon Media Remote for Xbox One
- Xbox One Rechargeable Battery
- Xbox One Chatpad
- Xbox One 1708 Wireless Controller
- Xbox One X 1787
Edit: After looking around some more, I seem to now also own a few digital games. I'm unsure if they're tied to the previous owner's account or not, but I can launch them fine when logged into my own account. I'm not sure if removing the previous owner's account will remove the software.
No a very effective Estate Sale if they are just giving stull like that away free, lol.
Sounds like the original user has that set as his/her home Xbox. As long as that's the case, anything they bought will be playable by anyone on the console. If that person changes their home Xbox, you will lose access (Not Prominence Poker or Roblox because they are free games anyway). I think removing the account would also remove it as the home Xbox.
To be fair, there were a lot of expensive electronics mostly related to music equipment and larger items like TVs, but the focus of the sale was on furniture. Numerous large boxes completely full of miscellaneous cords, chargers, and other small accessories that I imagine nobody wanted to sift through were in a corner of a room, and the Xbox console itself just happened to be at the bottom of one. A friend who was with me even found a brand new 4TB external hard drive also placed in a box marked free. Apart from furniture, only the high-end electronics were priced. Of all things, a simple body mirror was the only thing purchased between the two of us for $2. I genuinely wasn't expecting much prior to going, so I left feeling that the trip was well worth it.
I actually forgot to check the disc drive until just now. Obviously, a game disc would have been ideal, but that wasn't so. Instead, a Blu-Ray disc of Ted Nugent's 6,000th concert popped out, which was laughably unexpected.
Good to know. I don't think I'll have issue with anyone updating the profile to a new console, since the owner is dead and it's doubtful any of the family knows about it. I'm barred from accessing the original account even if I wanted to, so I may as well keep it present to access those games, should I ever choose to play them.
I'm sure they were glad to clear some space. I figured the owner was the deceased one, but wasn't sure.

After setting up the console, I was pleased that it loaded and worked. It prompted me for a hardware update, so I began that process. However, once that was over, the console stopped being able to yield a signal, no matter the TV set or HDMI cord being used. From my understanding, this is a widespread problem going back several years. Shame on me for thinking an update would better the experience.
Edit: After attempting to start up the console in low resolution mode several times without any luck, I finally was able to, and the system seems to be working now. After looking around some more, I seem to now also own a few digital games. Seen the Xbox Store had a sale on soon to be removed 360 games, so I jumped in and got a fir bit:

- Black (OG Xbox, is backwards Compat)

- Final Exam
- Kane & Lynch
- Remember Me
- Street Fighter X Tekken
Apparently the store will be having a 2nd final wave of titles on July 16th, so I may have to prep for that too!
Honestly, most games don't take long to have a price drop. 6-12 months and they're down by 30-50% -- especially on big days like Black Friday. Here's the thing. If you're working to snag a PS4... enjoy the PS4. It's a better library and 95% of modern releases are also on PS4. Unless you're wanting very specific games exclusive to PS5, which there aren't many, just wait for PS6 and see if it'll be PS5/4 backwards compatible. Maybe by then, the PS5 will have a library worth owning a system for.
Not gonna lie to you, I want as well a PS3, have been reading a lot these past months and it seems that isnt that hard to release the true power of this console, for what have seen they aren that expensive anymore, might get one here if I manage to get one used in a Pawn Shop, thats how I got a Wii, a DSi, a PS Vita as well a 3DS, its kinda hard to get as many consoles/games when you are married and you are the only one that works at home, I said hard but not impossible
As it's a subscription "freebie" I'm not adding it to my collection, but hey... saves me $70.

I don’t seriously believe that R* is going to try to charge $150 for GTA 6, unless it is a version that includes all the future DLC. Then, it might happen. They may do a $150 collectors edition. I could see that happening.
Rockstar does like to have different levels of releases. Deluxe editions, Super Deluxe editions, Super Mega Deluxe editions and the like.
Here’s my best prediction:
$80 Base Game
$90 Deluxe Edition including Base Game + Season 1 Pass + some exclusive item you can only get by buying this edition
$100 Super Mega Deluxe Edition with the Deluxe Edition and some online game money
That’s my best guess. We’ll see how it goes.
As for new game prices? They don’t bother me much. I don’t buy many brand new games.
PS5: I struggle to even call myself a PS5 collector since I know full well its physical games are more or less glorified CD keys. I don't think there is any future in collecting for the PS5 since I know these games will have no longevity in a decade or so from now when Sony pulls the plug on its servers. Nearly every PS5 game I've played requires at least half the game be downloaded, if not way, way more than that. And I've never been able to have more than a dozen or so games downloaded onto my PS5 at a time given how much space they take up and also there being no way to update the HDD in them. If not for the games being petty fun, this would be a straight up F Tier console in terms of collecting for me.
I often hear this argument being tossed around. My question to those who espouse this - couldn't the same logic be applied also to PS4 and even PS3 games, since there are quite some games even from that time period that saw updates and patches not included on the game disc? When Sony shuts down the server for those legacy platforms, and you can't get the patches directly from them, is there no point in collecting those either? I think the downloads included with many disc games are just a prioritized method of getting the latest version, when you have an Internet connection. Not that there isn't any version on the disc.
I acknowledge that it can be worse now when developers release a beta on disc and then patch it day one, but that's usually the exception and not the rule. It mostly applies to rushed triple A games, which is far from being every PS5 physical release. Sometimes there are definitive edition physical releases, if the game is a big enough success, but there's also a lot of smaller release and indie titles which are complete on the disc. I think too much is made of the issue. SomeOrdinaryGamers once did a video demonstrating that yes, you can in fact install and play games like Demon Souls remake and others without any Internet connection at all to his PS5. So there certainly is something on the disc with the physical games, more so than the hearsay is leading people to believe. Sometimes EA or Ubisoft will pull some crap in pursuit of their bottom lines, and screw the consumer of a complete or accessible product. But it's not a reason to write of PS5 collecting enitrely, IMO.
At the same time, I'd also like to play through more PlayStation VR games. I still have everything hooked up after having not played any for it in a few months, so hopefully that's enough of a motivator.[/font]
I treated myself to a PS4 VR a couple years ago, and I've never set it up. I keep buying VR games on sale too, lol.
I played a few things on mine - Astro Bot, Beat Saber, the Until Dawn rail shooter, Tetris Effect. I liked pretty much everything I tried on it, but it has been packed away ever since they made it clear that it wasn't going to be PS5 compatible and I switched out my set-up from PS4 to PS5.
