So I hope no one gets mad at me for these topics in classic games, I am starting to love this site and I love hearing everyones opinions and recommendations. This idea came from my top 10 classic consoles off all time. Now I am very curious of everyones top 10 CONTROLLERS of all time???????? If you want to put your most hated controller, do it too.
MIne:
runner up. Gamecube (not terrible but I did get complicated at times)
10. Atari 2600 Joystick controller (lol hey its easy to use)
9. Sega Saturn (I had to throw this awesome controller some where on the list)
8. Xbox (not a huge fan of xbox, but i'll give it to the controller was pretty dam good)
7. PS1/PS2
6. Super Nintendo (Just a little bit more complicated than SNES)
5. Sega Master System
4. Sega Genesis regular and the official Genesis turbo controller
3. NES (two buttons so simple and fun)
2. DREAMCAST (i know a lot dont like it but I thought this was one of the most comfortable controllers)
1. Nintendo 64 controller (so simple to use for left handers like me)

As far as the original topic, I will name some of my favorite controllers :
Playstation official - Sony started out with a fantastic controller on the PS1. They eventually added digital thumb pads on the PSOne. It was such a great design that it made it to the PS2 and the PS3. Hopefully they dont break the mold like expected on the PS4.
Dogbone - While the NES brick is okay, its sharp edges get annoying after hours of continuous game play. With the top loader, they fixed the issue and released one of the most awesome controllers ever made. Simple, comfortable ... just great.
SNES original - Everything the Dogbone was got improved when the SNES was released.
Micro con (Mad Katz) - During the 6th gen, these controllers came out and really appealed to people with a smaller hand size. It allowed people like myself to comfortably play the Xbox.

Oh yea! I forgot the playstation 1 had a regular controller without the 2 analogs. Those were bad ass controllers for that time. And when you say dog bone, are you referring to the top loading nes???? I never really a nes top loader that much so I'm not sure

Cool. I got to get me one. I find quite a bit nes controllers at good will so Hopefully ill find one there. Thanks for that info and refreshing my memory. I forgot all about that. I do have the NES Advantage controller and it works okay. Its best for me for games like Dragon Warrior but not for adventures like Zelda.

As a lefty, I personally found the N64 controller to be extremely uncomfortable. Mainly because of the control stick. That thing was rough on my thumbs and wore out quickly. I did like the Z button, though.

lol. I'm a lefty and I loved the n64 controller! ;) I think I liked it because of games like Hexen, Duke Nukem and GoldenEye, it really benefited me, but that Z button was the shit!!! And the Gamecube was weird but cool to me I guess. I remember only playing a few games on gamecube the wind waker and paper mario

yes! I loved my green xbox madcatz controller I agree! I have fairlyy large hands(larger then anyone I know) and I loved this controller very comfy. 360 is very comfy for me as well

Also, I agree, all of these caps-lock posts are a bit much. Unlike some of the other staff members who opt for turning a blind eye to poorly syntaxed posts, I however feel that it's a rule that should be enforced. A legible forum is a happy forum. ;D Please don't make posts in all caps unless it something that you're saying in a sentence that NEEDS vocalization. (Like that one!) Patrick, you have a good idea for threads, just please use proper syntax from now on.

I like it also.. I hear all the time "I don't have 3 hands" but if that's the case why don't they complain about the 360 controller? You don't have three thumbs.. Two joysticks 1 d-pad. the d-pad was there for when you needed it lol. but I will admit some games(armines,turok,south park, etc.) had terrible set up for the controls for it.

I think I'm the only person here that prefers the original NES controllers to the dogbone. I just really don't like the dogbone much at all and I've never had problems w/ the corners on the brick.

I grew up with the original brick and still prefer the feel of that controller to any other on any system. It still brings a smile to my face just picking the damn thing up; but I dont know if I'm actually happy or it's just Pavlovian conditioning at work, lol

I'm partial to the TG-16 controller. Aside from the short cord, it's a great controller. Similar to the NES controller, but rounded edges and built in turbo. Also, the Atari CX40 joystick is pretty good, after the gold PCB upgrade from Best Electronics.

When I read Yahoo articles they are caps, online newspaper headlines are caps, etc. Thats how I view the forum. Its readible to me and i dont know what syntaxed means, But if it makes everyone else happy then I will just do everything on this site the way everyone else wants it done. First it was "you cant type in caps on a forum" Now I cant even type the headline in caps. A HeadLine??? But I get it.
P.s. To me, it is vocalization. I'm excited about an idea for a post, and I type my heads in caps due to my excitement and for the fact its a headline. Maybe I get more excited than I should because of all these rules.

Well my honest opinion is. I can still read it, I can still understand it. It's not like there is an EMERGANCY on the forum and that's the only time you can use caps. Although the only time I would use it, is if I just heard about a new game or release or another. but I don't see the hurt in the caps I can read what it says and if it's in caps and it's not exciting to me then I Know it must be exciting for them. But then again I'm no good at grammar and could give a shit about writing in general, i'm not gonna put all my focus into spelling and punctuations. it's a forum that shares knowledge and insights about something we all love. Not School. my motto is If you can understand it, Don't complain. but if it gets to ya then I guess whateves, everyone's entitled to there opinion...... But on the original note,
tpugmire Knows whats up! I really like the tg-16 controller too, A built in turbo button!! hell yes! that also controls heights of jumps, firing Speed, ETC. Yeah I like it.. I also will second with scott about the original over the dogbone... I like both but Mainly played with the brick and never had a problem with it.

The Ascii Pad was amazing. I have one hooked up to my SNES right now. I got it for my Christmas when I was in 6th grade. It made Chun Li's Lightning Kick so much easier. ;D

It looks weird, but from what I understand it was super popular in Japan. Feels amazing. And is supposed to be where some of the gamecube features came from. Kind of the missing link. You can definitely tell with that analog stick. Very gamecube.

It does look like it would be very comfortable for most 64 games. The only game I could see being a problem for me, is mortal kombat trilogy just because of the d pad being so close to the move buttons

Hori is my favorite controller maker. This is one of the reasons why. Its set up perfect.

You have repeatedly ignored requests by both forum users and administrators to lower the amount of threads you make daily, to stop making thread titles with all caps, and, instead of waiting out your one day ban, you registered another account - then another - to get around said ban.
It's that last one that makes the difference. If you'd waited a day and talked to us in private then you might've gotten a second chance, but you blew it with the ban evasion.

Wow, glad he's gone. Also, some newspaper headlines are all caps because that's the font, or that it's suitable to catch the reader's attention. On a forum, users are expected to use proper diction and punctuation, or else people will think that they're a moron.

The caps weren't that big of deal. It's just the way he handled the situation, IMO. Instead of just letting it go and following the rules, he had to make this big issue about it, when it really wasn't that big of deal. He shot himself in the foot.

Exactly. I was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt the first couple of times, but his response to foxhack was just unacceptable.

I guess, but he was doing this chronically and after friendly advice. It's really fucking annoying having the topic list almost shout titles at me when it's discrepantly unnecessary for it to do so. And yeah, when you're an ass to the staff, you're hitting the curb. I have zero tolerance for that shit, and I would have banned him myself if I were online.

I'm not saying the caps things wasn't annoying, just that his general attitude was a million times worse. His all caps posts and titles could've been forgiven. His responses to the mods, on the other hand...
But yeah. Retro controllers. The Dreamcast VMU was awesome.

I really enjoyed the GameCube controller. And the Wavebird is the best wireless controller (precurrent gen) I've ever used. I never use my wired GC controller anymore.

I bought a used one years ago, before the GameCube stopped production.
I kinda wish I could afford 3 more of them, but it seems to me like they have skyrocketed in price.
