Title: October 2014 - Recently Added to Collection/Recently Purchased
Post by: dashv on October 01, 2014, 11:29:34 pm
Picked these up at Gamestop today...

For $7 each I'll take a chance on em.

To all the folks who convinced me to give FF XIII a try... I hope you are proud of yourselves.

Good Luck

Like I said Don't stray away from the game too much or you'll lose the fluidity with the battle systems (As in changing classes during a fight). Try not to get mad at the constant X mashing and enjoy the plot and the Fantastic OST.

I thought Other M was awesome despite how much hate it gets from the core Metroid fanbase.

Be sure to share your thoughts on that after you've played it.

I'm debating whether to get the Wii U with Super Mario Bros and Super Luigi or the one with Super Mario 3D World.

For $7 I am willing to roll the dice with Other M. hopefully I am pleasantly surprised with it like I was with Prime.

One of the biggest problems I had with Other M was being forced to use the d-pad on the Wiimote to run around in a 3D environment. Would it have really been that difficult to just add a few control schemes?

I own all 3 games and I personally enjoyed Super Luigi U a lot. Mario 3D World is really good too, but especially fun when playing with others. My suggestion would be that since Super Luigi U is only $30, get the bundle with Mario 3D World and buy Luigi U separately :) But that's my opinion. New Super Mario U is great, but it's very similar to every other New Super Mario, so if you have them already, there's no hurry to get the U version in my opinion.

FFXIII isn't the one of those you should be concerned about, it's that abomination known as Other M.  :o

I added My Sims Kingdoms to my "look for" list this week because it looks interesting - if you get to put any time into that one I'd be curious to hear your thoughts. :)

Other M was admittedly not as good as the Prime games or the 2D games in the series. But an "abomination"? I think that's a bit strong. I still enjoyed the game, and it still had that Nintendo-level of polish to it.

The My Sims Kingdom I purchased for my Wife. She a big Sims fan. I'll post her thoughts on it once she's spent some time with it.

I strongly disagree.  I hated that game - HATED it.  Everything about it - the story was atrocious, the weird 1st person segments where you had to click on some random object sucked, the combat was ok but didn't feel like Metroid at all.  And it felt like what it was to me - not a Nintendo game, but a Team Ninja game.  A developer that IMO is HIGHLY overrated.  Meh, I'm glad some of you guys got some enjoyment out of it, but I didn't like it at all.  I want to pick it back up just to have it in my collection since it IS technically a Metroid game, but I can't bring myself to spend $7 on it.

To be honest, I've never even heard of an Arcadia 2001 until just now.

Same here. I don't even see it listed in theflea's collection. I'm about to find out if there is a category for it on the site. What do I do if there isn't?

It wasn't just the core Metroid fanbase, but also women and people who respect women, as the game is sexist as hell.  They might as well have had Dead or Alive Beach Volleyball girls in the stupid thing.

Plus, it's the only story I've ever trudged through where the main character didn't even affect the hole-filled plot at all.  She just stood around while a terrible story happened around her.  Not to mention that somehow, somehow, they turned the heroine protagonist into a damsel in distress in her own damn game!

Now I'm all riled up. *huffs n puffs n such*  Just one of the worst things I've ever played in my life.

Duke Nukem Forever was less sexist.

Oh, and per the point of the thread, my most recent purchase was to download Wild Guns on the Wii U last night.  Given the prices in the secondary market, this is my best chance to play this game right now.

Meh, I'm a sexual pig. I like my women objectified and sexy in my media. Not saying I disrespect women in real life, I just like some T & A. So that's not an issue for me. I'm not worried about things being PC.

I agree, I think people were to hard on it, critics and nerds alike. :P
I mean c'mon, God forbid she is an actual human being with real emotions and that she is not just a bad ass killing machine. And people who complain that she's to sexualized forget that she always was since the original Metroid, beating the game in a fast time to see her in a bikini. Those self righteous people need to get over themselves!

So..anyway, to start the month off, I got Smash Bros for 3DS! Pre-ordered it at Gamestop and they had a midnight launch.

PS1
OddWorld Abe's Exoddus (CIB $8)

PS3

Disgaea 4 (CIB $9)

And then I made my first ever NES purchases now that I have a console to play them on!

NES

Dragon Warrior (cart only $5)

Good nes starter titles! :) Now you just need to get yourself a copy of Blaster Master. :)

Evilnick, are we really shocked that a Team Ninja game is sexist and blatantly objectifies the women in it? Really? :) Although I do agree with you. I prefer my Samus as a bad ass killing machine that don't need nobody to save her.

Metroid Other M must not have sold well though... Whenever I go to Best Buy or Target they always have about 20 copies sitting on the shelf still priced at 50 bucks... I got lucky and went into a Best Buy once and got a New copy for 5 bucks. I think they were trying to just get rid of them... but apparently it didn't work because they still have a shit ton of copies in stock lol

But she didn't have realistic emotions.  She had sociopathic emotions, crippling daddy issues with a man she didn't even respect, and went from being a character who had previously committed wholesale extinction to multiple species to a pathetic crying stereotype that was constantly dependent on being saved by thick-headed, one-dimensional male stereotypes.

Just because they tried to "elaborate" on her story does not mean they did a good, or even remotely respectable job.  It's not about "oh look at Samus's figure."  The sexism was that they took a strong female icon and reduced her to a pathetic, weak, useless, whiny, emotionally crippled stereotype of a woman that could only be seen as attractive by a rapist seeking a target.

The equivalent would be if, in the next Halo game, Master Chief spent the majority of the game crying, being scared, standing around while other people did his job for him, endlessly monologuing about his feelings pertaining to his obsession about one Ms. Adama Malkovich, constantly needing to be saved, and generally being useless.

Would you say that's an improvement?  Would anyone consider that an improvement for Master Chief?  Hell no!  So why does anyone defend it pertaining to Samus?!

There is adding depth, and there is character assassination.  Samus experienced the latter

I'm always surprised that Dragon Warrior is so cheap compared to it's NES sequels, then I remember why it's so common--it was originally given out with Nintendo Power subscriptions.  That's how I got it.

Man, SCREW NINTENDO POWER.

I got a NES in Christmas '88. I subscribed to NP a month later. Two months later I get a "add a year to your subscription and you'll get the game for free!" offer. So I resubscribe.

I NEVER GET SENT ANOTHER ISSUE AGAIN, AND I DIDN'T GET THE GAME EITHER. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH.

Ninja Gaiden II is an essential NES game. It tells a fantastic story with awesome, stylish cutscenes. And it has some damn fantastic action-platforming in it. Plus dat music!

And yeah, DW is a grind-fest. I think it's THE grind-fest game. You can't seem to take more than 3 steps without a random encounter (and I'm not exaggerating).

On the Retron 5 use the max Gold, Max Experience, and every attack is an "excellent move" cheats.

I started a new game, got the Erdrik's armor in 5 minutes and saved princess Gwendolyn in 10. :)

You could frame it in a nice little shadow box and put it up on a wall somewhere.

I would imagine you should be able to find one a some kind of specialty art or framing store. I'm not sure exactly how large those coins are or how small of a box you're looking for though. I'd check at a Michaels store if you have one locally, they have a pretty good selection of frames and shadow boxes for displaying things in.

I like the shadow box idea! I was thinking of putting them on a little stand or something...Like these tiny easels that aren't called easels but I forgot the name, on which people often display their handheld systems. But on a smaller scale, of course.

As for pick-ups, I don't have them in my hands yet, but a friend got me a nice haul from a guy he knows!

Playstation 1
Final Fantasy Tactics - 5$
Monster Rancher Battle Card 2 - 2$

Playstation 2
Monster Rancher 3 - 5$
Monster Rancher 4 - 5$

Nintendo DS
Magical Starsign - 5$

NES
Faxanadu - 3$

I'm really happy about this!  :D

I don't mean to be a jerk, but I believe that The Sims 2 and Star Wars: Empire at War are bootlegs. I've seen that same cover header on some bootleg games I've found in this region, not to mention the T rating in an European game... :o

Nice finds, though.

Hm? I thought they looked pretty official - I mean I've seen that type of box around before, but I'm relatively new to PC collecting so I'm not sure. But hell, they work and they still have manuals so it doesn't matter much, well, not to me at least :P
Bit of a shame though. I'm trying to get a full Star Wars game collection so obviously I'll want the best possible versions of each game so having a potential bootleg is a bit of an annoyance.

You may actually be onto something. I've scoured eBay and Amazon and I can only find one version of Empire At War similar to mine, and nothing for Sims 2. Maybe I just happened to stumble upon some random US imports or maybe they were released under a different range by another company, but there does seem to be a good chance these are bootlegs. But, like I said, if they are bootlegs, at least they're good quality bootlegs, eh? ;)

Growing up, that's all I ever heard so it's the official unofficial term for NES. The shape of the games and the front loading design doesn't help. Please rewind those Nintendo tapes.   ;)

Indeed it is the spawn of Satan and I've waited years to experience it. Although it isn't as obvious as Satan's other child, Smashing Drive which proclaims that "Smashing Drive will make you the devil's slave!"

Oh yeah, I'm going to have to brave the raging inferno for this one, and yeah Silver is just terrible along with everything else that could go wrong with the game. I think Shadow's part is the best of the three, with the other two, and its really a shame that the game played and looked better in beta than the final release, a trait only shared with the infamous Superman N64.

I got the Pokemon manga, figures, guide and 2 non-game related books that aren't pictured - Howl's Moving Castle & The Neverending Story - from a girl at one sale for $20 total.  I asked her about games, but she didn't think to bring the ones she isn't currently playing.  Turns out I already have that guide, so I'll be throwing it up on a trade list I'm putting together.

Rygar, Ninja Assault and the 2 Silent Scope games I got from my local retro store for $25 total.  Dead Rising was a Gamestop pickup.  Metroid: Other M - after all my bad mouthing it in this thread :P - was a yard sale pickup for $5.  I still hate the game, but wanted it in my collection because it's a Metroid.  Plus I had asked the guy if he had had any games and after digging around for a bit he only came back with that & a Wii Sports game.  I hate to not buy anything after people put forth some effort to find something, so I figured since that's the best price I've seen on it I'd go ahead & grab it.  The 3 PS1 games along with Marathon 2 for the PC & Excitebike 64 I got from a thrift store when I was visiting my parents Sat. afternoon.  The PS1 games were $2 each (except for Ridge Racer which was $3 for some reason).  Cases are in rough shape, but the manuals, inserts and disks are all in very good to incredible condition.  I can replace cases, so I snatched them up. :) Excitebike was $5. I'm not a PC collector, but I figured Marathon was enough of a curiosity to warrant a $2 purchase.

Finally I got a pair of nice speakers for my retro setup for $8.  And that CRT TV I grabbed last week in a yard sale for $15 - it's much nicer than my old one, which I think was going out anyway. Unfortunately the receiver I grabbed last week doesn't work, so I'm still using my old one which has a short or something because it "crackles".  :-\

By the way Argyle, I take it the GS trip yielded no complete Excite Bots or Blast Works??

$25, I think.  I roll the dice every now and then on "acceptable" condition games on Amazon.  I've had pretty good luck doing that. I'd say I'm 75% or so on the game being B+ or better condition.

Unfortunately, it didn't work out this time.  It's got a tear on the top label.  You can't win every time.  I'll still be looking for a label upgrade.

I knew there was someone I need to get up with today, thanks for reminding me. :) Blast Works was complete...but the cover was *badly* faded, looked like it had sat out in the sun for a long time. :( My local BB has a used copy of it that looks to be in much better shape - but it's $8 I believe, and I can't check condition of the disk or if the manual is there without buying it since they seal them up.  Your call.  Haven't seen a complete Excite Bots. :(

Today I managed to find a physical copy of The Shivering Isles expansion pack for Oblivion on the PS3. It even still had the nice map of the Shivering Isles, and was in pretty good condition overall. ;D Aside from that, I finally received my Limited Edition of Ar nosurge: Ode to an Unborn Star in the mail. It only took two weeks. :P (There were some initial issues with billing my order for some reason, then some orders got delayed in NISA's warehouse)

As tempting as it is, no. Just no.

I want an all original game. I understand that some people don't have a problem with it, but I can't stand it. I'd rather have a trashed cart than one with a repro label.

Holy crap, that Pokémon stuff! Nice haul!

Holy crap, that Pokémon stuff! Nice haul!

Thanks, I'm a sucker for any kind of little figures like that. :)

Also, I swapped out the jewel cases on 2 of the PS1 games last night - Star Wars and Colony Wars, Ridge Racer's case was in really good condition already - and those 2 games are near-mint now.  Kind of surprising given the state of the booth at the thrift store where I found them.  It was one of those thrift stores where people rent a booth & tag their stuff but they don't actually stay there to sell it.  Anyway, there were a ton of cds & games mixed together in a glass case that was thankfully open so I could dig through them.  In addition to what I found there was also a copy of Contra: Legacy of War but the case inserts were very badly faded so I left it.  Then I found a case for a pinball game that a really wanted, but no sign of the disk - I even looked through most of the other cases because some disks were mixed up.  Oh well, still happy with what I got! :D

How much was that Guncon 2 bundle, if you don't mind me asking? I'm looking at a similar one on Ebay right now that looks like a really good deal, but then again I haven't been pricing them lately.

It was 25 bucks for the bundle and that's coming from a store that has pretty reasonable pricing.

Ordered a couple of things from Amazon's Warehouse Deals site the other day & they came in today.  Got Risen 2: Dark Waters for $7 (another PS3 RPG down! :) ) and a Skylanders Giants figure, Hot Head, for $2.  That's about my price for picking up a Skylanders figure. ;)  Both are in like-new condition.  The DLC codes from Risen have been used, but I don't really care about that anyway.

If you see anything in there you think you need, shoot me a PM with an offer.  I'll get you more pictures.  This was in a box that obviously got wet.  Some of the labels are trashed (poor Mario 3), but the price was right.

My wife and I have a blast peddling our wares at conventions.  It's a chance for her to pretend she has a store, and it gives us a home base of sorts at the convention.  Look for us next year!

Went to Gamestop on my lunch break and grabbed 2 used games - Binary Domain for $8 & Red Alert: Red Faction 3 for $9 (after coupon) (both for PS3). I didn't go with the intention of picking up RA, but it was in incredible condition - they both were - and it's one I don't see around here.

Went to another GS last night that I *never* go to - it's in another town about 20 mins away, and there's literally nothing else there that I have any interest in besides the Gamestop. :P But they were showing several cheap games from my wishlist as being in stock so I decided to check them out - surprisingly, most of what I went there for was complete:

(https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2948/15308631017_9c98aa8cc7_b.jpg) (https://flic.kr/p/pjLJE6)IMG_4258 (https://flic.kr/p/pjLJE6)

Really early PS3 games seem to be scarce in my area, ones that are complete at any rate (except for Lair, that thing is everywhere & always looks mint :P). I was very happy to find that complete Enchanted Arms. It looks like I may have to resort to ebay for some of the ones I'm looking for, such as Full Auto 2, The Club and Stuntman: Ignition.

Oh, and that DS game is Gunpey. I've given up on finding those complete - if I could just find a good way to store/display the loose carts I'd be good. :)

Local used media place that we frequently frequent finally had their big sale--20% off of everything.  Took this as the opportunity to finally snag:

Sword of the Berserk: Guts' Rage for Dreamcast (complete)
999 for the DS (new)
and in the "why the hell not?" category, Legendary Wings for the NES.

I've been watching that Sword of the Berserk at that store for months.  The last couple times I did this, I ended up regretting it as the game I "held off on" was purchased after I foolishly passed on it.  One of them was TG-16 Splatterhouse.

The prices that Splatterhouse goes for nowadays I feel really isn't worth it. It's a cool game because of the horror elements. But the gameplay itself, really is kind of shallow. I'm glad I got it when it was cheap and got to play it. Or else I might have paid $50 to get it.

Maaaaaan   :-\

I'm so jealous that both you + Greg have a 1st playthrough of X-Edge (one of my favorite games --and-- The *Very Best* RPG combat system I've ever experienced), to look forward to  :o

Couple of things to expect + tips:

- Expect a *steep* learning curve & in depth + complex systems and mechanics, also - be prepared to deal with some un-intuitive layouts & menus; Don't quit (and, if you're like me, you'll want to) before you get to that "A-Ha!" moment when everything finally 'clicks' and makes sense to you; it's worth wading through the frustrations...ALL of them  8)

- Expect characters from the Disgaea, Dark Stalkers, Ar tonelico, Mana Khemia, and some (lesser known) series; there's no need to have played any of them though, you'll just recognize more cameos & playable characters and, you'll be "in" on a few more of the nods, long-running gags, and inside jokes if you have.

- Expect to need to ask questions/get help...both of you guys know how to get in touch with me via PSN; don't be shy/strangers  ;)

- If you're interested in either getting its platinum (I did so...*Twice*) or seeing the best/"True" End - you will need to be following a guide *Closely*; this is no joke, it's impossible to do it w/o one!

- Multiple & Frequent saves; trust me  ;D

- There's A LOT of DLC for this game!  IMO, don't bother with any of the paid DLC (I never used/got/needed any of it) but *DO* Get the 4or 5 Free DLC "Extra/Bonus" Dungeons!...they're a Godsend for levelling & rare monsters, items, materials, and drops!

ENJOY!

I plan on enjoying it thoroughly. ;) I don't see how I couldn't enjoy a game that has both Etna and Morrigan Aensland. ;D

Thanks for the advice on the DLC! I would've never thought about checking for free DLC. While we're on the topic, many of the games in the Hyperdimension Neptunia series have useful free DLC too. To those of you who haven't gotten around to playing them yet, I'd recommend getting the [free] DLC first.

Hah!

Morrigan's in my party from beginning to end!

Lily's in from when I get her until the end.

Etna...much as I love Disgaea, she just didn't work the best w/ my party.

But, you can pretty much make almost any party work & play as whoever you like.

If you're getting da plat...at your convenience - level up Troy, Felicia, and Lazarus' skills a bit, as that will make some later game trophies much easier.

Also, while it'll sound & seem like madness, you're better off playing on 'hard'.  You don't have to, to get any of the trophies - but, you'll make up a lot more than the time you spend re-loading & re-fighting in the beginning, once you get to the post game as it'll open up uber areas that you can't get on normal or easy  ;)

I won these in an eBay auction for only $3.99, really looking forward to reading them. The Game Players issue is over 200 pages! They just don't make them like that anymore. And I have never read an issue of Sega Visions before.

So this was one of my more unique trades lol Friend found it at a garage sale and I traded for it with Pikmin 2.  The sword does have a busted guard on it, but I might be able to fix that by essentially breaking the other side off, making a mold of it, and then making the new part out of something like resin or more easily a hot glue mold, though most likely resin for a better and easier finish.  I'm then considering down the road looking at painting the two their proper colors, but I'll have to maybe get some pro help on that to make sure I'm doing it all right.

I agree, that's why I'm waiting for price drops and more games to come out before I get a PS4/ or XboxUno. There's just not a lot of games in their libraries that really interest me in the moment to put that kind of money down right now.

Sega Visions is like the Playstation Magazine of the Genesis era. Not a bad mag but definitely there to showcase product and not to provide unbiased reviews. :)

Got this today at GameStop:

Which brings my 3DS physical game count to a whopping 5 games! (New SMB 2, Super Mario 3D Land, DKC Returns 3D, LoZ: Link Between Worlds, and this one.)

And that's all I want, until some other games come out on it. The N64 remakes I'd rather play on an N64 with a T.V., and the straight console ports I'd rather play on a console.

I REALLY hope we get a new Metroid handheld game on 3DS at some point; a PROPER Metroid handheld game. Not some stupid vs. game like we got on DS.

Nope. Luigi's Mansion doesn't look fun to me at all, maybe if it was a proper platformer. I didn't like Paper Mario: Thousand-Year Door, it was too silly for my tastes, so I doubt I'd enjoy later entries in the series. And Yoshi games are just too cutesy for me. Never been into Pokémon. And Smash Bros. is a game I feel that once you've played one you've played them all, I'm not a fighting game fan either.

Basically I want 2D platformers, action-RPGs, shoot-em ups, beat-em ups, and good action games.

There's still plenty of regular DS games on my wishlist, though. And Shinobi is a 3DS one I might pick up if I come across it cheap, it's just not a must-have for me since I already own a lot of Shinobi games.

Basically I want 2D platformers, action-RPGs, shoot-em ups, beat-em ups, and good action games.

As for shmups, I heard that Nano Assault is great, I'm looking for it myself! Maybe you would like it too.  :)

Nope. Luigi's Mansion doesn't look fun to me at all, maybe if it was a proper platformer.

Ever play the GameCube game? Platformer or not, the series is really good. Leave the platforming to Mario, and the ghost wranglin' to Luigi. :D

Super cheap and it'll be trade material among the local gamer folk or if I save up enough to take to the game store.

time for a catch up post here. got a few games since my last update.

NES
Commando
Double Dragon 2
Nightshade

PS2
.Hack Infection
We Love Katamari
Katamari Damacy
Soul Reaver 2
Gradius V

PS3
Zone of the Enders HD Collection
Resident Evil Operation Raccoon City

Wii
Death Jr Root of Evil
Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Echoes of Time

X360

And this was probably my best find of the lot was just browsing game stop and found a complete Shin Megami Tensei IV LE for $16! The strategy guide/artbook and soundtrack and even the big box all in fantastic shape! they had just a loose copy of the game there for the exact same price so I snatched up the limited edition quick (actually had the loose copy in my hand and was about to buy it when I saw the big box)...

Also picked up a Donkey Kong Country 2 player's guide for 4 bucks that I happened upon.

I don't know anything about that game, but I swear every time I see it, I think it has got to be the worst cover for any wrestling game, and maybe just any game ever. It's similar to the cover of John Elway's Football on NES - looks like a three minute job done in MS Paint.

I say I popped in, but they have their inventory on their website and I saw that one listed at $1.99 and immediately got in my car, lol. And they only sell complete games (at least for non cartridge games), and you can occasionally find Limited/Collectors editions and they sell them for the same price as the regular versions... And I happen to have like 5 of them in my city so I always make my rounds when I get a chance.

Lord, there are soOOoo many NES games. They just never stop. Perhaps there are more games that appeal to me in some sense on NES, than any other game console. Everywhere I go I'm reminded of more NES games I still want, and I keep buying them. The good thing is, they don't cost very much.

I downloaded Crimson Dragon for XBox One the other day. If you like Panzer Dragoon, this would be up your alley.  It's made by the same creator with his new company and it's considered the spiritual successor to the series.
Anyway, I got this free with "Games with Gold".

What really irritates me is that this didn't get a physical release. If it had, it would definitely motivate me more to want an Xbone, but then again it would take WAY more for me to actually take the plunge and buy one.

I really want to play this one. I loved the first one and Orta on XBox. Still haven't played Zwei, yet.

You know how you hear some people trying to push games as artwork? This series is definitely one of those games. Everything is astonishingly beautiful and set to an amazing soundtrack.

Yeah a Physical release would be nice. It's sad when companies don't have the confidence in releasing games like this physically these days and instead would release the same generic military FPS's every year because that's what sells. :P

More like they can't afford to release the game in physical form. :(

At least with digital sales there's no disc production overhead.

Sega Game Gear.... my buddy gave me his old one, and it wasn't working, so I just bought a working online, and will get the other one repaired later..... Came with Ecco the Dolphin and Sonic. (Sat)

Gameboy Advance (Platinum).. My brother's gameboy advance is at my house, but I use to own the platinum one and had to own it again.... Just because... And his doesn't have a battery cover.... So maybe i will sell it later. Since he won't care and doesn't play video games anymore. No games. (Sat)

I have the original gray brick gameboy coming in today, I still actually have a handful of games still for it too. Never sold them.

My friend needs to mail me his sega dreamcast soon too. I think he needs to still test it to see if it works. I told him i'd cover shipping...

After all this, I gotta stop till I find a new job though. I do have an interview next week, and if I get a job, I plan on saving up for a ps4 and some games. After that, maybe the 3ds and Animal Crossing.

Getting ready for the day Witcher 3 finally drops.

I'm waiting for Kingdom Hearts 3 or Tomb Raider 2 to drop.

Since TR2 is a timed exclusive on Xbone that puts me having a PS4 sometime in 2016.

So I've made some interesting discoveries lately. Last week when I went to Goodwill, I happened to check a small bookcase near the dressing rooms and noticed some PS1 games, to my surprise. Interestingly, I come back this week and check the same book shelf and what do ya know? More games! This time a decent original Xbox collection. I was under the impression this Goodwill no longer put out games. Maybe I've been overlooking this shelf for years now? ??? Perhaps, or maybe it's dumb luck. We'll see.

Of today's pickins, the only game I needed was Crazy Taxi 3. 1$? Yep. My exact word, upon checking the tag. ;D It never gets old finding 1 dollar games.

Pretty much the same.  Bloodborne is out in February and should be great.  Then I'm waiting for Final Fantasy XV and Kingdom Hearts 3.  I'll probably get Tomb Raider 2 on PC unless I get my PS4 around the same time and need something for that lol  Definitely a good year or two from getting a PS4.

So, I got my copy of the limited edition of Senran Kagura: Shinovi Versus in the mail from Amazon today. Not only did it take longer to arrive than it was supposed to, but it was also shipped in a tiny bubble envelope, which is why it was damaged when I received it. >:( >:( >:( It's probably obvious that I'm pissed right now, but I really needed to rant. Sure, it's not going to cost me any extra money to ship it back and have them replace it, but the fact that I even have to replace it is what really pisses me off. Would it really have been that difficult just to ship it in a cardboard box to begin with? I've bought way cheaper crap from them, and they ship those in boxes. Why not this? Ugh... >:( :'(

I got Blokus Portable: Steambot Championship in the mail on Monday from Karyann. ;D Wanted it because of its ties to Steambot Chronicles, which was a very good & overlooked PS2 game. Still need to pickup the other PSP spinoff title for it - it's a shame the true sequel got cancelled. :(

I also picked up Samurai Warriors 4 - Special Anime Pack yesterday. Unless I'm mistaken, this is the first ever US released "special edition" of a Warriors game, so I definitely wanted to support that. Pretty fun from the little bit I played too, I like that not only can you take 2 characters into battle but you can actually dictate where the one you aren't currently controlling goes & what he/she does.

Today I should be getting another PS4 game in the mail, Shadow Warrior. Looks like a great old-school style FPS, and for the price (I got it down to just over $20 w/ my Best Buy discount & some reward certs I had) I couldn't resist. :)

The games were Champion Wrestling and Pachinko 2. Not exciting. But I have a lot coming from Japan with Star Jacker (my favorite), Lode Runner, Borderline, and two others that I don't remember. I got the lot for Lode Runner and Star Jacker. I would like to get Girls Garden. Any mini game where you vault a girl over stampeding bears is a-ok in my book. But it tends to be priced higher than I think it is worth. Honestly, I really want Pacar. That game is surprisingly awesome.

Here is the flipped photo.

I'll never understand why they seem to package normal games better than collector's editions...  :-\

I just bought Gravity Rush, I heard mixed reviews on it (either people totally loved it or totally hated it), but I decided to go for it since I've really been itching to play with my Vita, but I'm tired of Lumines  ::) I have lots of work to do tonight, but I can't wait to try it tomorrow!

I learned this lesson back when SMT IV came out, because they did the exact same thing with me. Ever since then I follow this rule of thumb - never order anything from them that will fit in a padded envelope if it will most likely get damaged in shipping being sent that way. Because if they CAN put it in an envelope, they WILL.

The first game is included with the second. Two for the price of one. ;)

Speaking of cut off, I think I'm right there with ya. Hit my local retro store and blew most of my credit last night:

Magical Starsign (DS)
Arc the Lad Colletion (PS1)
Red Steel (Wii)
Alien Monster Bowling League (Wii)
Fishing Master: World Tour (Wii)
Need For Speed: Nitro (Wii)

That Arc the Lad set has some sticker residue on the front that I'm sure I can clean off and some VERY minor scuffing on one spine - otherwise it is in immaculate condition. Looks practically brand-new. So I put all three big box Working Designs RPG sets back in my collection in one week. :o In addition to the new releases I've picked up that I want to play through - yeah, I need to take a break. :P

Yeah I also got Bayonetta 2.  Got the last copy at the store. So... the whole joke of "the Wii U has no games" is officially over now right?

Got my replacement copy of Senran Kagura: Shinovi Versus from Amazon today for the damaged copy they sent in a crappy envelope. Guess what? They sent it in a ****ing envelope again! >:( This one isn't as damaged as the original, but it's still worse than it would've been with a proper packing job. I feel like they'd do it again too, so I'm cancelling my preorder for Persona Q's premium edition from Amazon.

Yep, looks like I'm never buying limited editions off of Amazon again. :-\

Pretty much. Imo the WiiU is the only next gen console worth having right now given its large amount of exclusives. Sure there are several on the XBONE and PS4, but 90% of their libraries are multiplats that also happen to be on PC, with the PC versions being almost invariably better. I'm holding off on getting a PS4 (will likely never get an XBONE for the shit they pulled prior to launching it) until there are enough exclusives to justify dropping $400 + tax.

And. . .We have Smash coming out next month :D

And very nice decision on the Wii U pickup as well as the other Wii games! If something was just going to happen, that is about the best thing to happen right now :p

And yes, get Bayonetta 2! Picked it up last night and it is amazing! The first one, which is included with the second as a standalone disc I might add, is even improved in various ways over the 360 and PS3 versions.

My girlfriend and I impulse bought Hyrule Warriors last night. Played it for like 5 hours. It's pretty damn addicting! I love that the co-op doesn't use split screen, but instead uses the Wii U gamepad and the second person gets the whole TV  :D.

All the stuff in the WiiU picture I bought off of a user on AtariAge. While it certainly wasn't a thrift buy, I am happy with what I paid for it all (about 1-$200 less than if I bought it all new.

Not to mention you can't get the Zelda Edition WiiU for $300 anymore.

Good to know Bayonetta 2 physical copy comes with 1. I was tempted to buy it digital for that reason.

Yeah. I guess I should clarify my suggestion. Don't pay $450 for just the console used. :)

Look for a sweet bundle at a fair price. Like I said I didn't get mine at a bargain price. But everything pictured was complete and in like new condition. All the digital content on the box was games I like and several were games I either planned to get or didn't know I wanted.

Stuff I didn't know I wanted:

Dr. Luigi
Kirby Super Star
Golden Sun

Also, just did the full math. I paid $300** less for that whole bundle of WiiU stuff than it would have cost to buy it all at current retail/eshop prices.

** updated from $240 I had the price of 2 of the games wrong. :)

I feel like I made out pretty well.

Nearly have my Zelda collection complete of just the main releases, not counting alternate versions or if they are boxed or not.  I think all I have left to get is Spirit Tracks and I own them all.  After that, I'm going to try and focus on boxed versions of the Gameboy games and I need a case and manual for Phantom Hourglass.  Then I need to get a boxed Linked to the Past and a boxed Zelda 2, of which that will probably be my last one to buy cause it's pricey and I don't like Zelda 2 lol

Also almost have all the Budokai games, but Budokai Tenkaichi 3 is stupid expensive which sucks lol

I haven't found anything decent in the wild in months, so I've been relegated to picking up stuff on eBay and shop goodwill lately and paying about retail for everything.  Here's some of the interesting stuff I've picked up recently:

N64
Mario Party 2
Mario Party 3
Mario Golf

NES
Gun Nac <- finally won an auction for this game

and I finally picked up a Game Boy Color - yellow (Dandelion).  This completes my basic Game Boy Color set of the primary 6 colors!  Finally.  Not going after oddballs like the Pokmon or Tommy Hilfiger ones.

Bought on eBay:

Tactics Ogre (PlayStation)
Lord Of The Rings: Battle Of Middle-Earth (PC)

Sadly, I've been trying to configure and research how to make the game compatible with Windows 7.  So far, no luck.

Many thanks to krelyan for this haul of complete games:

PLAYSTATION:
Alundra
Beyond The Beyond
Chrono Cross

Bought on October but I'll probably receive late October or early November:

PLAYSTATION:
Breath Of Fire IV: thanks to cobraseph!
Mega Man Legends 2: only bidder on eBay.  Rare moment for me.

Ebayed some stuff yesterday. All CIB and they ended up being basically 12 bucks apiece...

Super Famicom
Dragon Quest I&II, III, V, VI
Final Fantasy IV, V, VI
Chrono Trigger

Now that I can play all those games with translation patches through my retron, I'm debating whether or not I wanna try to sell my NA copies of FF II, III and Chrono Trigger. I'd probably be more willing to get rid of the Final Fantasy games, but I don't know if I could part with Chrono Trigger...

As much as I want to buy them from you KEEP your NA copies. If your Retron 5 ever bites the dust and you have to choose another clone console without ips patches your Jap versions will go back to useless!

As for pickups. I got these two today.

Kirby's Block Ball was an ebay purchase.

Thunder Force III was a $6 Goodwill pickup. I was going to pass on it until I looked it up on ebay and saw it goes for $30.

Popped it into the Retron 5 and it's a pretty awesome R-Type style game!

As much as I want to buy them from you KEEP your NA copies. If your Retron 5 ever bites the dust and you have to choose another clone console without ips patches your Jap versions will go back to useless!

That was my hesitation... I probably will end up keeping them all! but we'll see. If I do decide to sell them I'll probably come here first.

It's the only "Thunder" game I still need in the series (U.S., at least). Thunder Force V on PS1 is by far my favorite in the series. That lock-on laser shot is pretty freaking sweet.

I also really liked Thunder Force II on Genesis, due to the free-roam levels.

Just for reference Lightening Force (and I didn't spell that wrong, that's how they spell it on the box) is Thunder Force IV in the U.S.

The manual is intact but water damaged (I can take pictures.) and the cart has a name written on it in sharpie. But the case and cart are in very good condition and it plays fine.

If you want it offer me something in my wish list. :)

It's some weird game where you have to survive various natural disasters. I saw a review of it on youtube and decided if I ever found it cheap I'd give it a try.

It was one of my most wanted games, Wii or otherwise until I picked it up tonight. Th second one is really good and has hilarious dialogue in the cut scenes that make 0 sense lol

I remember reading that the 2nd game's translation is really literal, and the tone of the actors doesn't fit the scene, so I'm looking forward to that once I find the game somewhere. Also, that game has a ton of releases on platforms as it apparently is on the dreamcast, xbox, gamecube, ps2, windows, and psn, as well as standard and limited editions for the standard and LE for the gamecube, ps2, and dreamcast versions. It's pretty crazy.

Yet another 99Gamers.com acquisition (love that site!):

And I picked up this one for cheap:

Which brings my PS2 game count to 99 games. So close to that triple-digit mark. And it will be the first time I have passed that mark for any single console collection! No doubles, no burned-games, and all NA releases.

Looking for some entertaining ways of exercise right now, so I'm gonna try and get some DDR stuff and fortunately for me, Goodwill had two DDR games for me.  Just need to find a PS2 pad now.

And then for the bigger haul, a pile of PS1 games from my usual thrift store. I think the only real gem of the pile is Castelvania: Symphony of the Night, but a couple others looked fun and the ones I end up not keeping will be added to my trade stack.

I have the same problem for DDR, I have a few of the games but no pad to play with them. You did get the first Crash, Crash Bash, Spider Man( pretty good platformer), BustaMove, Pac Man World and the 3rd Syro in that set, which are all pretty good games as well as more desireable common titles since PS1 has been rising in price for the last few years or so.

Those are the ones I'm likely to keep, probably not Spider Man as I remember that one abit and don't really remember it being very good.  I think it was Spiderman 2 the movie game where they actually got to be good.  I'm probably gonna keep most of it except for Qbert, the two Star Wars games, and Pitfall.  The rest should be generally fun.  Jet Moto 2 I'm pretty sure I remember playing years ago.

I dunno about the best, but it's the newest in the series. It was well received by Famitsu as well, with a review score of 32/40. It sold pretty well too and is fairly cheap to pick up. It was around $10 when I ordered it from Play-Asia a while ago.

Yeah, most of the other games in the set are pretty. However, the two star wars games are probably the only bad ones in the set, as Dark Forces is a FPS that looks pretty bad on the PS1, and the Masters of Tera Kasi plays pretty badly compared to the other 3D fighters from the day.

Hmm, maybe I'll pick it up since i like those kind of games and it seems pretty cheap for a import, and since PSP is region free, it shouldn't be a problem to play. I think I'll pick it up in the near future then.

Do you think this ToV deserve it's own entry? It's a reprint celebration for Tales 20th anniversary and there is a sticker saying that, however it's on the shrink wrap. I haven't opened it yet so I dont know if it say anything else about the 20th anniversary in the case.

My copy is the same as yours, I added it to the database here: http://vgcollect.com/item/70676 (http://vgcollect.com/item/70676) as the standard PlayStation3 the Best edition. I was very pleasantly surprised by that one. I had checked local inventory for it just earlier this week & supposedly no one in my area had it. I stopped by that GS this afternoon just because I hadn't been by there in a while, so when I saw that they had it complete & in very good condition, I jumped on it. Played it on the PS2 back when it first came out but never finished it, so I wouldn't mind going through it again.

I just figured out that there is a minor difference in the box art of the reprint from the original PS3 the Best edition, and the BLJS# and barcodes are different for the two as well. However, the entry I made is the correct one with the correct codes and box art for the version we have.

Admin question here, should the submitted release date be the date the version the entry is for was printed, or is it for the original release of the base game? For instance, the PS3 version of Tales of Vesperia came out in 2009, but the game's PS3 the Best edition was just rereleased back in October 2014. Do I submit the release date for this entry http://vgcollect.com/item/70676 (http://vgcollect.com/item/70676) as September 17th, 2009 (original release date of the first version of the game) or October 9th, 2014 (the date that this specific version was re-released on).

Put the date of the version described. Super Mario Bros for Wii VC shouldn't have a release date of 1985.

Yay mail time! ;D Today I got some Japanese imports.
-Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA (PSP)
-Summon Night 5 (PSP)
-Tales of Vesperia (PS3) (PlayStation3 the Best edition)

Still waiting for my Tales of Vesperia ughhh

I lied apparently the package was on my desk but I didn't notice because I fell asleep when I got home.

As far as I could see, there's nothing aside from that Tales 20th Anniversary sticker on the plastic to make it any different than the first print of the PlayStation3 the Best edition.

Well this ToV is technically a reprint of a reprint, so my guess is when it was re-released. I assumed the BLJS# is different but what part of the front art is different?

Got some Atari 2600 manuals I was missing and a few 7800 games for the 7800 I don't have because it was only $8.

I also picked up a Playstation copy of Wing Commander 3 with case, discs, and manual for $8 because Mark Hammil is in it.

You should enjoy that copy of Centipede on 7800.   The 7800 version has a two player co-op mode that is a lot of fun!

I'm not an admin but I'll help.

Put the date of the version described. Super Mario Bros for Wii VC shouldn't have a release date of 1985.

That makes sense, thanks. :)

Ok I get it. I probably scan my Tov with the sticker on it so we easier tell the difference.

I have a rule where I will just buy a game even if I know nothing about it if it has capcom or konami on the box and it's 3 dollars or less.

I've never thought enough about it to call it a rule, but really I'm about the same way. Just add Atlus to that list as well. ;)

I'm doing that with Atlus, but adding Konami and Capcom to that would be a pretty good idea!  :D

As for recently added, a few days ago I got a cool package from Argyle including Cooking Mama and the awesome Sword of Mana postcard that's in my signature right now! And I also bought Shifting World on Amazon for $10. I figured that even though it has bad reviews, it seems quirky enough for me to want to try it.

my wife enjoys the Cooking Mama series. We both enjoy the Trauma Center series.
