My first pick-ups of the year:
(http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_wRProyXHKeg/TU9fqHD_keI/AAAAAAAAAVI/OeKR9OkmV_s/s1600/Lord%2Bof%2Bthe%2BRings%2B%2B%2B%2B%2B%2B%2B%2B%2B%2B%2B%2B%2B%2B%2B%2B%2B%2B%2B%2B%2B_%2BThe%2BThird%2BAge.jpg)(http://img1.fantasticfiction.co.uk/images/x2/x13860.jpg)
I've heard the Ultimate History of Video Games Book is quite in-depth and a great informative read on the history of the gaming industry.
And as I suggested that I'd like to see a JRPG with Western mythology and a Western art-style (in another thread); Lord of the Rings: The Third Age fits that bill perfectly.
-
While it doesn't get a lot of love - I had fun playing LotR: 3rd Age on the PS2 ;D
-
Just got Hotline Miami for $2.50 with credit from Amazon.
I split the topic for the new year, and locked last month's, like scott has done in the past. Sorry.
-

Some from last year actually, gotten the PSone games for only 3 euro's for all 4 :)
-
Not really *here* yet...but I got my shipping confirmations & tracking #'s for both Theatrhythym: FF and Tales of the Abyss (both for the NA 3-DS)...so, it's looking like those will be my 1st two additions for the new year...
-
I picked up Fallout: New Vegas, Ridge Racer 7 & Wolfenstien on PS3 today.

I picked up Fallout: New Vegas, Ridge Racer 7 & Wolfenstien on PS3 today.
I really liked New Vegas. Not as much as Fallout 3, but it was pretty good. Of course, I was playing it on PC, I heard the PS3 version has... issues.
-
I bought myself the House of the Dead/Burning Rangers Taikenban double pack, can't wait to play them :D
-
This year is starting out fast :D
I'll be hitting up a retro shop tomorrow, here's hoping I can find an import :)

I actually have the collector's edition on the 360, but I picked it up on PS3 for $10 bucks just to see if it was really as crazy buggy as everyone said. There was a 250MB+ update as soon as I put the game in. It looks great, but I have had it crash on me once already, and I've only played for about an hour :( It's the first time I've ever had any software on the PS3 crash back to the dashboard. Weird.
We'll see how it goes. If it ends up crashing out too much I'll just throw it up in the Pay it Forward thread since I own the seemingly superior copy already :)

Huh.
I've had the exact same experience (w/ only having one game that just wouldn't play right on my PS3) -but- for me it was Dragon Age: Origins (when it 1st came out).
Exchanged it 2 or 3 times for new & different copies...same problem w/ each & every one :'(
It *was* on an original, FAT PS3 that YLOD'd soon after & it works fine on my Slim...can't imagine wtf was up with that shit >:(

I'm interested if you give up on it. I've been wanting to try it but I haven't found it for a price I want :D
-
Oh what's this? Guess all the resellers were still hung over because I found all this:
Silver - $3 (will be resold or traded)
Street Fighter Alpha 3 - SEALED - $2
Ecco The Dolphin - SEALED - $3
Skies of Arcadia - $2 (to replace my copy missing disc two)
Dreamcast VGA Box - $4 (will be sold or traded)
... I'm not sure what to do with Alpha 3. I want the game... but I can make some profit from reselling it... likewise with Ecco. :p
I also had SIX packages waiting for me at my post office box but I didn't grab 'em because I was already packed with stuff... check the other collections thread in a bit and you'll see why.
-
Very nice Dreamcast pick-ups there for an incredible price! Congrats!
-
@foxhack, those are some great prices! I would have more DC games if I could find them for that cheap!

Are you in the U.S.? Because I generally find most Dreamcast games to be pretty cheap, here in the U.S. Skies of Arcadia is an exception, but then that's usually the case with many JRPGs on any console.

Well... I live in Mexico but buy stuff to resell at local flea markets in the US.
Thing is, most of these flea market booths are owned by Mexican people, who love to mark up the prices on everything. These are likely the cheapest Dreamcast games I've ever bought there. Most of the time they want $5 or more per game, unless they think it's a music CD, in which case they only ask for $1-$2, unless they're jerks.
(I'm allowed to criticize people from my own country, right?)
I've also been to flea markets up in Tennessee and man, the prices there are INSANE. $15 for Super Mario / Duck Hunt, $100 for Final Fantasy VII... this was a few years back though. I have no idea if things have... settled since then.

I live in Canada and I rarely see DC games unless they are sports ones and even then they are normally priced at about $5.

This is why I haven't been to a flea market in years. It really turned into just walking around looking at games and never buying anything.

If $5 is an expensive game to you, then you should just get out game collecting now.

It depends on the game, if it is NFL 2K1 then yes $5 is WAY too much for me. I have also spent $150 on a single game before so I don't mind spending the money if it is worth it.

Happy New Year vgcollectors!
I recently acquired a display case for some of my favorite collectibles...

Oh that's sexy! Nice grab on that display case, for sure. It looks pretty mint from that pic.
-
Thanks man, I'm really enjoying it thus far.

I bet! That looks awesome!

i got two more games in my quest to get all of the games i played kid and i'm starting to realize that most of them are by fisher price, davidson and the learning company which is scaring me for some reason
-
I got me some japanese PS3 games!
First, E.X. Troopers, which I got because Capcom are once again being buttheads and aren't localizing it (adding another thing to the near endless list of bad Capcom decisions this gen).
Second, Mamoru-kun wa Norowarete Shimatta! Meikai Katsugeki Wide-Han (Best Hit Selection)... wow that's a long title. Got this one because I heard it was similar to Pocky & Rocky on the SNES.
Also... if anyone needs a 5$ off 60$ order coupon for play-asia, let me know in a PM. It needs to be used before February 16th and I doubt I'll use it.
-
Picked up my first game of the new year today as a birthday present from my parents Master of the Monster Lair of the DS. I have missed out on too many Atlus games and it sounds like an interesting concept so I picked it up.
-
Picked up Doom 3 BFG Edition on PS3 today. I'm looking forward to finally beating Doom 3!
-
Picked up a few Vectrex overlays. Other than Halo 4 last month, it's been a pretty quiet couple of months for me.

I borrowed the 360 version of Mamoru-kun off a good friend a while ago - it's good fun! Hope you enjoy it too :)

That is an amazing case and find. I always fight the conflict of wanting stuff like that but also preferring to live in apartments. Maybe once I get older and/if I settle in a house.
-
sin2beta, wow. Where did you get that?
Anyway... today's finds and Goozex arrivals:
Eraser: Turnabout (PC) - $2
Iron Man (PC, new) - Free, Goozex
X3: The Official Game (PC, new) - Free, Goozex (disc 1 was loose)
Hulk (PC, new) - Free, Goozex
I already owned Eraser Turnabout, but my discs were scratched. These are mint so I'll just sell my other copy. As far as I know this was not released in a box in the US, it was only bundled with computers, so as far as I'm concerned it's complete. X3... disc 1 was loose and super scratched. I dunno if it'll even work. I can probably find a cheap replacement somewhere.
I also got way too many DVDs so check the other thread for more info. :p

I played it a bit and I'm quite liking it. I had to read a review or 2 to figure out what the curse bomb thing did but now it makes sense. The PS3 version also adds dual-analog controls that are really solid too, a lot easier than the controls that lock you in a direction when you shoot (you get the option so I tried both... dual-analog is a lot smoother). Overall though... a new Pocky & Rocky-style game=instant win for me :P
Also, I have no idea what the top 2 main menu options are, they seem to bring to basically the same mode (both are the only widescreen modes so you can see more of the battlefield than in the 360 version... I think one of them has a time limit maybe?), but that's a minor issue to me, I'm used to not understanding menus when I play japanese games (at least if it was katakana/hiragana I'd be able to read them, but of course the game has to throw kanji at me... and all the other menu items are in english strangely enough).

That's not my case, but BrettyBlueVein's. I just quoted it. But we can call it my case if we wanted. In fact, it can even be shipped to my house with no objection from me. I've just got to figure out the best way to make the Nintendo into Sega. 8)

Those Learning Company games were awesome! There was a spelling one that was my favourite as a kid. :)

I bought the Kirby Dream Collection for Wii last night. I woke up a little early this morning so I made a quick run through Kirby's Dream Land. That was the only Kirby game I've ever played other than Smash Bros. I've been playing too much modern stuff these days. I need something simple to rot my brain.

Picked up my first game of the new year today as a birthday present from my parents Master of the Monster Lair of the DS. I have missed out on too many Atlus games and it sounds like an interesting concept so I picked it up.
If you like MotMl, please, please, *Please* follow up on it by getting & playing My World, My Way!
It's *not* a sequel -but- it does have references, re-appearing characters & cameos, etc *AND*; IMHO MWMW is extremely cute, fun, and funny FtW :P
-
Theatrhythym: FF just arrived (new) - 1st addition of 2013!

Nice! I took a crack at the co-op a few weeks back with a friend, and it was way harder than the few songs I'd started with :\ (I hadn't gotten very far in the game so was still learning it at the time)

It looks like it'll be a blast! A racing game that rewards you for driving like a jerk!
-
I agree it is a really good game! :)
-
I loved playing through Burnout Revenge!
-
I liked Burnout Revenge, but I prefer Burnout 3.
I've been meaning to get Paradise, but can never seem to find a copy for 360 anywhere.

Yep, its part of the limited edition with the Making of disc. The rest of the set is the surrounding box, the hardbound manual, thumb button covers, memory card holder and mini character standees. All listed other than the manual fit inside an omake box.

Thanks Soera - I found it (and the Y's & Yggdra OST's)...and I'll be adding them soon!

Nice! I love the vectrex. They're always difficult finds for me. I don't think I've ever seen vectrex stuff in the wild.

The only Vectex item I've ever found in the wild was an overpriced console only at our local Vintage Stock. Everything else that I've found has been at conventions or online.

Ha ya I was holding off for Castlevania II: Belmont's Revenge, but decided its not that big of a deal. Since it's not technically GAME #1000.
edit: minus all accessories / hardware / swag / etc I'm sitting at 842 games...
we really need a way to show totals of each section. :)
-

You're right I'll set Scott know he is pretty on the ball with this stuff.
Hey Scott,
This guy had a great idea. We should be able to separate how many items we have: hardware, software, ect...
Just thought you should know
;D
-
I got Super Mario Sunshine, Kaitei Daisensou, Gridrunner, Cyber Speedway and Garfield Caught in the Act.
-
More PS3 stuff!
Going with the previous theme, another import, that being Gal*Gun... for the lulz :P

Yeah, I played the japanese demo, it was pretty fun. Not exactly at the same level as, say, Bayonetta, but not bad. Kinda like they updated MadWorld's gameplay and made it fun (yeah, didn't like MadWorld :P).
Oh, and it turns out it's the Korean version of Gal*Gun I got... The actual game is still in japanese, just most of the box is in Korean.

I went into Wal-Greens today just to use the bathroom while I was in that part of town, and as I walked by the Christmas section, they had an Atari Flashback 4 console, brand-new, for 75% off. $9.99 for 75 games! What's funny, is that they had an Atari Flashback 3, with less games on it, for $40 because it was a regular item, not a Christmas item. That was a steal! And it was the last one on the shelf!

January 8: Package finally gets here. A cardboard box. In a padded mailer. ARGH.

Here's the funny part: He sent it like that but paid for Priority Mail postage. Which means HE PAID NINE DOLLARS TO SHIP THIS since it came from a Zone 8 location!

Just got Anarchy Reigns

Had a wild thing happen to me today. I went into my local game store too look around. The owner got to telling me someone brought in a whole box of SNES games, some rare. So he pulls them out and I start looking through them and notice they were from the store I rented games from as a kid. Well, now I'm the owner of the Shadowrun cart I rented when I was about 12 or 13.

Bought my first 3DS game! I got the Project X Zone limited edition pack, the intention is to also buy Bravely Default and Hatsune Miku, possibly adding Taiko no Tatsujin and Kokuga if I'm able to get enough money together :)
What did the Project X Zone LE come with, kimimi?
Also, let me know when it gets a write-up on your blog - very interested in reading what you think of it!
It comes with a 48 page character and setting book and a soundtrack CD. Looking at the VGMdb page here (http://vgmdb.net/album/33865) it's actually quite a thorough CD and not one of those lame "selection" offers where they stick a dozen tracks nobody likes on there :D

Hit #1000 with Time Gentlemen, Please! and Ben There, Dan That! Double Pack from Desocietas via the the Pay it Forward thread.
Congrats! Not what I would have picked though lol :D
Yeah, I removed all my consoles/Steam games/swag and stuff long ago so I can get a real number. It's hard to (read: I don't) count Steam games or downloadable games as something in your game collection, because you don't have a physical copy of it. Neither do you even own it, according to the Steam EULA (you only own the rights to playing it). But yeah, 842's good too :) You got me beat by 2 games exactly ;D
-
... I just got a copy of Borderlands 2 from someone on this site. :o
I'm not saying who, if he wants to reveal himself then cool. Still. Wow, and thanks to you mystery benefactor dude.
-
I want a mystery benefactor.

I want a mystery benefactor.
I'll settle for *any* benefactor...mystery or not :P

I do too, I figure I bought them and I can play them so I count them. But I do understand why some people don't.

Ah I thought you meant that you didn't. I do, because like you said, I paid for them.
edit. wow I got all confused on who was all quoted there.

Ooh let me know what the Yggdra OST's like!
Well, since I had about 1/2 hour's worth of driving around/errands to take care of pretty early this morning - I decided to bring the Yggdra Union OST w/ me to pop into my car's CD-player...and give it a listen :)
I'd say that I probably heard about 1/2 (of the 56) tracks -and- I liked what I'd heard pretty well.
That said, a lot of the tracks sound quite similar. That's not necessarily a "bad" thing, mind you, since it probably very well fits the tone, mood, and pace of the game itself.
If (like myself), you're a fan of sweeping orchestral pieces, ever-building crescendos, a lot of strings horns, and wood-winds, and -oddly enough- considering how much I used to *Dislike* it...I now, in later years & retrospect; find it a bit ironically amusing how much I really do enjoy organ-heavy, "chorals"/Choir-like, instrumentations/Hymnals that I so dreaded hearing, week-after-week...at the Sunday Catholic Masses that I was ever so unceremoniously & unwillingly dragged to as a child.
Back on the topic of recent additions -while not a game- its still definitely an addition to my NIS(A) Collection...
I received in today's mail, *3* Sealed copies of the:
Limited Edition of the "Ghastly Prince Enma" Anime...not much of an anime fan - I'm not entirely sure what I'll end up *doing* w/ them; TBQH :o
-
Thank you for letting me know! Sounds like the perfect album, I'll have to track it down :D
-
Thank you for letting me know! Sounds like the perfect album, I'll have to track it down :D
Shouldn't be too hard to find (at least here in the states), as it came-out as part of the 1st-run/LE PSP re-make/port of the game :)

I got Duke Nukem Forever: The Doctor Who Cloned Me for Steam for $1.50 last night. Beats the hell out of the $5 they wanted for it during the Steam sale. :P
And today, I only picked up one bit of video game swag:
This is a three track single containing Richie Havens' songs from the Tex Murphy: Overseer (http://vgmdb.net/album/2233) soundtrack. I searched for it on the internet and not one site had any info on it... so it might be extremely rare. And it cost me a buck.
-
Got V-Tetris on virtual boy, which is actually a different game than the 3D Tetris that came out in America... So that's one step closer to my "almost complete" Virtual Boy collection (I'm not going for any of the insanely rare ones like Gundam and Space Invaders... nor do I care about getting boxed games).
And also got the final Nintendo Power issue.

I also got Starsky & Hutch and Total Overdose: A Gunslinger's Tale in Mexico, both for PC today.
-
Got Final Fantasy I & II: Dawn of Souls and Final Fantasy VI Advance for GBA from stagecoachkid. Getting closer to a complete (main title) Final Fantasy collection! ;D
-
I picked up several NES games last night. Uninvited, GI Joe, Crash n the Boys, Kickle Cubicle and Ikari Warriors III.

I picked these up today:
Wii and DS games were $5 each at EB Games, Williams is complete but Rainbow Island is missing the manual :(
The 360 games were buy 2 get 1 free at a local pawn shop so they only cost $10 for all three.
At the same shop were clearing out the Xbox and PS2 games so it was $20 for all 10, they are in various stages of completeness and some are in better shape than others but I am happy with the selection considering the sale started on Wednesday.

So jcalder I have a question....do you just buy any game you come across or are these all titles you plan on playing or have true interest in?
-
@brettybluevein, I will buy pretty much any game if the price is cheap enough. In the case of these games there is a mix of games I want and games my son will enjoy and some filler to take advantage of the sales.
-
Got these from local pawn shop for $.99 each, All CIB except Scaler missing manual:
Rythm Nation - $2.99 from Best Buy sale
Henry Hatsworth - $1.99
Atlantis: The Lost Tales - $1.50
Chrno Crusade Original Sountrack Gospel.1 - $1.99
All other PC games were $.95
(http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/cc101/atariboy_pics/Video%20Game%20Stuff/Computer_zps98a26c08.jpg)

Atariboy, you might want to upload smaller pictures. Those are renamed BMP files and are way too large.
That said, Scaler? Is that the HK bootleg of Spyro?
-
That said, Scaler? Is that the HK bootleg of Spyro?
Nah, it's a separate game, though from what I recall it's also a 3D platformer.
I actually met one of the people who worked on that game, though he mainly told my class about the work he did on Prince of Persia: Sands of Time, and how much it sucked working for Ubisoft :P
-

??? Sorry, Original image was a JPEG image and I scaled it down 75%, I'm showing the file sizes to be 920 KB and 894 KB, Is that too large? I usually size them down about 75%.

They're not JPGs, they're BMPs. Whatever image program you used didn't save them as JPGs. :\
If those were JPGs they'd be like 250k each.

Hmm...
I've never heard of that PS2 game -
"GODAL: Elemental Force"...
...WTF is it - an RPG?
-
Its Godai. I have seen it before. It sounded RPGish from what I saw.
-
@foxhack I think I fixed it, Interesting I didn't realize the difference but I resized using photoshop and I see the difference now. Thanks for the heads up. The thing is that my didgital camera saves as a JPEG and I used Hypersnap to scale it down but file was never in BMP format. weird.

Looks to be more of a fighting game, maybe with RPG elements? not sure.

My last of completely random PS3 import orders!
PachiPara 16: Gingira Paradise 2 (is it 16 or 2? What the hell?)... some pachinko game featuring anime girls in bikinis.... and anime dudes in speedos according to the back of the box.
-
Continuing with my recent theme of import games, I got my first Vita import.
Mahjong Fight Club: Shinsei Zenkoku Taisen Han, which I hope is better than the crappy mahjong game I have on my iPod. And by mahjong, I mean the real thing, not the one your mom plays where you make pairs of tiles that are in a stack.
*Edit*
Surprisingly, this is the first time I find a Vita game with a physical manual.

Yeah it is... And rather useless since I can't even read it... and I know how to play mahjong anyways :P

Billy Hatcher and Mega Man Network Transmission on Gamecube, Infinite Undiscovery and a disc-only copy of Bullet Witch on 360... and a complete in box copy of Jack Bros on Virtual Boy! ... okay, it's the japanese version, I'm not spending 300$ on a game :P

Nope, I've never played it. But back when I was covering gaming news I remember III coming out and being kinda excited about it. Though I never ended up picking it up. I am actually in the search for 1 and 2 at reasonable prices. I have 4 on pre order too, through amazon.

Havent posted in here in a while .. but this one I want to mention. I made a deal with a guy on Nintendo age for Suikoden II with guide. I had to make payments on it cause there was no way I could have bought it in one shot. But it arrived today. Game looks great. Guide (first one in the system here!) has a bit of wear but its not ripped anywhere or bent or anything. Im pretty happy cause that was one of the biggest games left for me to add to my PS1 collection. I just recently finished a playthrough of FF VI too so that leaves my PS1 open and ready to start this game tonight.
-
Nice! Congrats!

I can't wait to hear your thoughts on it. I have always wanted to try it but I have never wanted to shell out the dough for a copy.

Nice! Congrats!
x 2 ;D
Those 2 consecutive Suiko2's in your sig -right next to each other- *do* have a look and an air of...*AWESOMENESS* to them...
...even if they *did* knock my (*unequally* awesome) *"Brutal Legend"* for the PS3 out-of-sight ???
-
I was actually hesitant for a while to buy the game. I wasnt amazingly impressed with the first one but all the people that I have talked to about the game have said its 100 times the game the first one is.
And heh my signature is interesting as hell right now for sure. 2 Suikoden II spots, Slime gum, and the 2 new Skylander giants (which I have to mention ... if you guys play Giants that I found Thumpback and Eyebrawl both at Wal-mart so 1: Obviously they are out and 2: they arent Gamestop exclusive like the Hot Dog 3 pack is. Thumpback is a pretty damned powerful character. Eyebrawl is pretty weak at first. Havent gotten too much put into him yet to see if he becomes the powerhouse I can imagine he could be).

I won a copy of Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade from the advgamer.blogspot.com! Really enjoy this blog, he is playing through all the PC adventure games. I also enjoy crpgaddict.blogspot.com who is doing the same thing only with PC RPGs.

Wait! There's more! My wife got me the Mega Man Zero Collection for DS. I haven't played it yet. I don't know the first thing about the Zero series. We'll just have to see.

Which Ys PSP game? If you're wanting the one I got today (Ys: The Oath in Felghana), there was a second used copy at the store for about $12. I can pick it up for you if you want. :)
-
Was hoping you would be willing to trade. I have some PSP games Ill probably never play, they just come with the system.
-
I bought Sim City 4 Deluxe for a buck. It's missing disc 2, but that's okay since I can redeem the key on Origin. Cool, right? Well, no, the key is pretty old and I need to contact support. Except EA won't let me contact anyone. Their new help site only tells me how to add MP3s to the game, or go to the forum, which is full of people who want to contact support but can't.
Argh.
Edit: Spoke to EA support, and they added the game to my account. Woohoo.

Dreamcast Collection - finally I haven't seen one locally for about a year
Pure Futbol - for 3 bucks
NBA Live 09 - $1.00
Open Season for my son for $2.00
Planet 51 for my son for 5.00 - another one we have been looking for
PSP: Taito Legends: Power Up - $2.00
-
Gear Master game gear converter and SMS Kenseiden (sp?) for $5. Another score.

I picked up a few games today. Most notable was a copy of Pokemon Leaf Green inside of a GBA SP...both were $5 total.
Also picked up GTA II and San Francisco Rush 2049 sealed for $4 & $2.
-
My last pick up for today was TMNT IV: Turtles in Time for $15.
Sorry for all the updates. I was on my phone and pumped for every find.
The final tally: Turtles in Time, Final Fantasy III, Gear Master converter, Kenseiden for SMS. Total spent: $25. It was a great day.
-
Gear Master game gear converter and SMS Kenseiden (sp?) for $5. Another score.
Great price on that! I love that you can play SMS games on the go with it, I have one, but man does that GG screen make it hard for some those games. For many SMS games, you have trouble seeing far enough in front of you to be able to avoid oncoming enemies/obstacles.

Nice with the dreamcast collection. Don't make the mistake that most people do and skip sega Bass Fishing. If nothing else, the announcer makes it worth the price of admission... all the way from his opening pronunciation of "Say - guh"
-
Picked these up at Goodwill yesterday:
-Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within (VHS) - $1
-Sonic Spinball (Genesis) w/Box - $5
-X-Men: Gamemaster's Legacy (Game Gear) w/plastic protective case - $2
-
Final Fantasy 3 on SNES for 5 bones! I'm a winner.
Score!
I picked up a few games today but nothing that great :(
For the 360:
NHL 2K10 - finally I haven't seen one locally for about a year and a half
Dreamcast Collection - finally I haven't seen one locally for about a year
Pure Futbol - for 3 bucks
NBA Live 09 - $1.00
Open Season for my son for $2.00
Planet 51 for my son for 5.00 - another one we have been looking for
PSP: Taito Legends: Power Up - $2.00

I already have it for the Dreamcast with a fishing controller 8)

Oh man, nice! Congrats.
And I picked up the Pokemon Black 2 & White 2: Official Pokedex & Guide: Vol. 2 yesterday. Other than that, not much else gaming related as far as pick ups go for me.

It's been a while since I've posted my recent additions to my collection. The ones I've added have just been small things - nothing too crazy.
I just got back from the Los Angeles, CA area and was fortunate enough to have a generous boyfriend who was willing to 1) rent a car while we were down there and 2) drive me around to at least 6 different Gamestops all over the LA county for me to browse through even though he isn't actually interested in game collecting.
Yesterday evening, I left the store with this lot:
Unfortunately, not everything was CIB prior to purchasing, but I thought I'd go for it anyway. Various issues other than many of these missing manuals:
- .hack pt 4 was not actually in stock (this has never happened to me before in all my time of purchasing used games at Gamestop) but the clerk said I could have the case after I said I was super disappointed to hear the news
- when I opened up Rogue Galaxy hours later after leaving the store, I discovered that the disc was actually a demo disc :(
- and after doing some research on Sakura Wars (which I only bought because it was an NIS America title), I decided that I'll probably return it since the premium edition is still readily available on Amazon for not that much more.
- will probably return Tactics Ogre as well as it's not that much cheaper that a new retail copy.
Thankfully we still had one more day in Los Angeles after discovering the Rogue Galaxy error and were able to exchange it for a proper game disc. After doing that, my boyfriend indulged me in a trip to two more Gamestops to get these two:
Had never heard of Arcana Heart but thought I'd grab it since it was an Atlus title and almost missed our flight back home (by less than 5 minutes) because I wanted to track down My World, My Way.
Not sure if a cart-only copy of My World, My Way would've been worth us actually missing our flight, but I'm glad I didn't decide against buying it just because of the lack of the case. $9 for a game that's going for about $30 cart-only is ok by me.

I have never heard of Arcana Heart either. It seems like it has nice animation and art. It will be interesting to see how it plays as a fighting game,

Hah, yeah, I just looked up a YouTube video of it. Had no idea it was a fighting game. I don't usually play fighting games, so it might go up for sale :P
-
Despite missing manuals, cases and general GameStop disappointments, you got a pretty nice selection of games there. :)
And a keeper of a boyfriend. ;)
-
OOh nice get on all that stuff there Desocietas! If you decide to get rid of Tactics Ogre and don't feel like returning it, I might be interested in it. :)
-
Been looking for Arcana Heart since I passed one up a year or two ago; now I can't seem to find it anywhere.
This weekend, my wife traded her copy of Lego Lord of the Rings for Lego Harry Potter Years 5-7.
I found a copy of Haunting Featuring Polterguy (Genesis), which I've been searching for for quite a while. I also picked up a surprising item at Goodwill. A boxed, complete copy of the Japanese import of Donkey Konga; bongos/game/inserts/etc. I'm often surprised what I run across at that Goodwill. Last time I was there I was about 5 minutes too late to snag an Atari 5200 system.

The one I found yesterday doesn't have a manual or any other inserts and the box art has remnants of price stickers that someone tried to peel off unsuccessfully (not on the case, but the art itself :(). BUT if that's all ok by you, I'm happy to sell it to a fellow VGCer.

Nice work! That's crazy that a Goodwill had an import copy of anything, much less a giant peripheral based game.
-
Most recent pick up.
scored it off Facebook actually.
20 bucks for all 4 complete in box.

Oh man, loved me some Krusty's Super Fun House back in the day.
-
that last post was my most recent pick up.
Until a few mins ago.
off yet another facebook tip
Both were 6 dollars a piece. Both complete in box. Except the instructions for battletech is a laminated copy from a rental store.
they had some other games but i either already had them or they were REALLY common games.

Rocket Knight Adventures is a great game! One of the best in the Genesis's library. But dang is it hard!
-
Finally got me some DeathSmiles! Building up that 360 shooter collection! Woo!
-
Woot congrats! Love me some deathsmiles

After failing to secure my steelbook case for Ni No Kuni this afternoon at my local shop, I did come across the following:
You might recognize the PS2 titles from yesterday - this store actually had much mintier boxes AND the manuals! So I asked if I could switch the disc out, and they were totally fine about it (didn't check my receipt or anything).
As for the PSP games, neither got all that great of reviews, but it was hard to pass up the price for both. Mana Khemia: Student Alliance does not have the manual, and they couldn't find the cart for Wild ARMs XF but I pestered them to see if I could have the case (with manual), and they obliged. I probably wouldn't have asked if the clerk didn't give me the box for .hack//Quarantine the other day.
Last score for the evening: a display box for Ni No Kuni (remote for scale)

Im actually trying to get one of those boxes. :)

Im actually trying to get one of those boxes. :)
I forgot to ask about the promo poster that I saw at another shop that looked really good. But the box was in pretty good condition and was just tossed on the floor when I saw it. The clerk looked around for another one in nicer condition, but this one was totally fine except for some small dents and a small tear in one of the flaps. The back, which I think is the nicest part, is pristine.
-
I ran to my local shop right after I posted that and they didnt have the box any longer. :( Im going to try to find one again tomorrow.
-
Just ordered The Elder Scrolls Oblivion for PC on eBay for five dollars :)

Nice! It's super fun and easy to get sidetracked in. But if you like RPGs, you should really enjoy it.

Thanks. I'll give it some thought and PM you later about Arcana Heart.
Yeah, the Goodwill store I frequent is ALL electronics; video games, CDs, VHS, computers, toys, etc. I've actually run across a couple other import games there before, I forget one of them, but the other was an Ace Combat (PS1) import game. I've found some fun stuff in that store - actually the time before last I was in there I picked up a copy of Rogue Galaxy in there :D
-
Thanks. I'll give it some thought and PM you later about Arcana Heart.
In case you missed the updated post, I switched out the Arcana Heart disc for a much cleaner case, cover art, and manual. I'll still move it to my sell list, but at least I won't feel bad about selling something to someone on VGC that's only in "good" condition. This one's definitely in the range of "very good, not quite mint" in my opinion. ;) no pressure, obviously

My wife ordered me an early Birthday Present. It's a print on canvas. It'll look great hanging in my last little corner of this house.

I got the gamefeed up and running now and I temporarily got the 2nd player controller re-attached. I still need to figure out where the issue is between the volume knob and the speakers (left side doesnt work and the right side only works when the volume is up to a certain level) but the playstation logo lights up, the light in the cubby hole for the system itself works and the monitor looks fantastic when the game is being played. Im pretty happy with the way it turned out.

Congrats. That's a really cool piece to have. Does it work with just a regular old PlayStation? We need pics when you get it up and going.
-
It has an original looking playstation with a huge sticker on top that says that the system itself will not work on its own. I dont know how a normal system would work on it however.

I have played the greatness that is KoToR but I have never played the new Prince of Persia games so I'm looking forward to giving it a try.
-
The top 50 GB/GBC thread reminded me of a game I sold a long time ago, Marvin Strikes Back. I still remember going to the store and picking it out for my 5th birthday... (I also remember destroying the nice box it came in :-\ ). I just ordered a sealed copy off of Amazon because I wanted the box and manual too, and it was cheaper than buying it with the box and manual used. :)

I loved the 1st Prince of Persia on Xbox. I didn't like the 2nd one though and traded them both off years ago. But, now I want to go through them again and have been looking for copies locally.

Technically I have 4 cabinets...
A semi converted NES Pro Play Home Arcade (pretty damn rare) to a MAME cab... I'll take some updated pics later.
For those who don't know what this is, it was a MDF Arcade cabinet sold through Toys R Us and you put a TV and a NES inside. A true Arcade at home experience! lol
Not mine...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TJBk0dxaoiE
I have a Dynamo HS-6 (which I can't find crap about online) which is now a dedicated Xbox Street Fighter III 3rd strike cab (was Street Fighter EX 2 Plus). Needs new plexi and monitor fixed( fixed geometry issue, but still get interference.

The artbook that was with III wasn't bad either - did you manage to get one of those with your copy? Also, I've been digging the EO emails they've been sending out slowly.

Nope. Mine was just the CIB game. :(

Ah, it came with preorders, I believe. They're not going for too expensive on eBay, so you might be able to snag one there for pretty cheap eventually.

How's the guide look as a collector's item? lots of illustrations 'n' such? I like that they made it hardcover, so I kinda feel like I should pick one up sometime.

Well, I have this nasty habit of leaving my guide books sealed so I really can't speak to the pages inside. The outside looks nice though :)

Heh, that's all right. I don't usually buy guides, so I would probably be in the same boat. But if it serves as a nice artbook sort of thing, I might get one (seeing as how I've already got a collection of Ni No Kuni stuff already now).
-
I found a copy of the Ni no Kuni hardcover guide. Picked it up, and downloaded the special familar.
The GF and I are watching the beginning right now. So far, I'm digging it.

One of the greatest games ever created. The game is just so massively huge but with so much attention to detail at the same time. If you like games that drive you to explore, you will lose dozens upon dozens of hours in this game.
-
Agreed. Don't let the game let you get lost though. It seriously took me 3 tries to finish the main quest, just from the amount of side questing/explore I did. I didn't actually finish the game until just before Skyrim released... and now I'm having the same problem w/ that. haha

I will agree with you about Skyrim. I'm still putting time into that and I honestly have no idea what the main story is or how far along I am in it and I have no problem with that :D

I have Oblivion and Skyrim but havent gotten into them the way that I did Morrowind. That game single handedly cost me my previous relationship (and sadly because of it, my previous collection ... damn her).

For me, it was more like hundreds upon hundreds... :P

Ouch. So do you look upon Morrowind now with fondness or hatred?
My boyfriend would often joke about how he would lose me to Skyrim once it came out. Funny thing is, he started playing it before me (I have yet to pick it up). Luckily, he's slightly ADD with games and leaps from one to another in no time, so I'll likely play it soon. :)

In the past few days I've received my Japanese 3DS with Project X Zone - it's a lot of fun! Having never owned a 3DS before now I was pleasantly surprised at how good the e-shop was, there's a ton of good demos on there (EX Troopers, Bravely Default, Taiko no Tasujin, Monster Hunter, etc) and unlike my experiences with the Wii shop I've actually been able to casually browse - and find things!
-
I picked up a couple of guides today:
Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Explorers of time Explorers of Darkness
Starship Titanic
for $3 each

Today I got STUFF!
First and most importantly, Fire Emblem: Awakening, a week before it comes out! Turns out EBgames stores in Canada had it in stock already so yay!
And I got Hyrule Historia which is twice as big as I thought it would be.
And also Lost Planet (the colonies edition), Earth Defense Force 2017 and Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire.
-
I also got the hyrule historia! And ya this thing is flipping huge!

How is the content? I thought about picking it up but I wasn't sure how the actual writing in it would be.

It's well translated. Though I noticed in the listing of game in the back it said The Legend of Zelda Collector's Edition for GameCube was Club Nintendo only. Though in the US it was released w/ a special edition GameCube instead of through Club Nintendo, because back then we didn't have CN like we do now. So that's some wrong information.
All in all, it's a great art book and has a lot of info on the Zelda series. It even has the "official timeline" if you're into that kinda thing.

Mine should be arriving right when I get off of work tonight! I'll be anxiously awaiting by the door, but I still don't know if I want to open it or not!
-
Open it! Then go buy a ps3 ;D
-
I picked up a few things today:
Skylanders Giants:
- Eye-Brawl
- Thumpback
- Crusher
For the DS:
- Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor
Each was $15, the skylanders were new and Devil Survivor is used but complete.
Edit: I also bought Mobile Suit Gundam Zeta: Complete Collection 1 brand new that is going up for sale or trade if anyone is interested.
-
I haven't posted much lately because there haven't been many finds...
I did buy the Max Steel video game for Dreamcast yesterday, two bucks. (Blitz Games, we meet again!)
And I got Stacked and Assassin's Creed II Deluxe for Steam in trades yesterday. Other than that, things have been pretty sucky.
-
Got me Dodonpachi Resurrection on the 360! The PAL version of course, which is region free.
Building up that 360 shmup collection :D

OK. So... Etrian Odyssey arrived today. After wondering wtf is up and why it was taking so long. Yeah, it turns out that the Amazon seller is from FLIPPING GREECE! I mean. I don't care really. Except that this fatty EU case is gonna look super strange next to the regular ones. But it plays on my DS and 3DS in English. So that's the main thing.
But still. WTF? Haha. It was a super deal though and I didn't pay NA prices. So that's cool too.

I'm glad you're ok with it because that would really bother me!

You could always open it, take out the Wizard's Handbook, put the book in a box, and ship it to me!
(In all seriousness, I want one :) )

I'll mention this in the Ni No Kuni thread, too, but in case you still have some faith in Namco... https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=548437698509433&set=a.429514310401773.104210.358130007540204&type=1

Ha ya it slightly bothers me. But it makes for a funny story. Ha

I feel bad for the people that got fucked out of their wizard's edition yet they keep offering copies up to win.
I also want to second Scott's post : Get your PS3 and get to gamin on that thing. :)

Picked up a 32x! My tower of power is complete. First thing I did.... popped in sonic 2 in sonic and knuckles in the 32x in the genesis that is attached to the sega CD. It looks absurd.

You're missing a GameGenie between the carts and the 32x.
And I hope that Sega CD is a model 1, boyo!
