Did we lose sorting by Alpha with the new version?

Did we lose sorting by Alpha with the new version?

It never worked on the old site! We did lose sorting by Priority but it will be one of the first things I start working on.

I know you are still working on fine tuning but I wanted to note these before I forgot:

Odyssey 2 does not display correctly on the Pie Chart
When I click edit on a title(To edit the item in my collection) it doesn't show the notes or the date purchased from my entry
Every edit submission I have made said it has been rejected

In notifications, under reason for rejection, when I click on style guide

It appears to redirect back to www.vgcollect.com/notifications.  No style guide.

Odyssey 2 does not display correctly on the Pie Chart - FIXED
When I click edit on a title(To edit the item in my collection) it doesn't show the notes or the date purchased from my entry - FIXED Notes. Dates still don't work.
Every edit submission I have made said it has been rejected - Looking into. Looks like all old stuff is showing as rejected. I may just delete them all since they are missing data anyway.

I have no idea what can cause this, but the front cover on this game acts weird. The thumbnail seems to be the most recent cover I uploaded (the rating seems to be E), but when it's showing in the bigger space, it's the old cover that appears (RP rating). Also, when clicking on the back cover thumbnail, it doesn't appear in the bigger space.

http://vgcollect.com/item/35107

Edit: The disappearing image seems to happen with games that I recently uploaded the image to. Here's another example:

Yeah I noticed this too with the latest cover image updates that I submitted or the latest submissions (PS4 titles comes to mind mainly at the moment). I figured since the change just happened things will get ironed out soon in the next couple of days.

I broke it while fixing the login / logout bug.

All of my notifications say that my edits were rejected, even though I approved them myself months ago.

This is due to the fact that the old ones were missing data. I think I'm going to simply delete anything pre-launch.

Is this why it says I only have 1 edit on my badges page?

Also my avatar never shows up on any of my pages. I see in other people's screenshots their avatar matches the forum one.

That should clear up any cookies or sessions from both the forun and site. Then log back in on the homepage.

Pagination in the wishlist is broken. When I click page 2 or 3 for example i get a 404 error.
I think it's because the user name is skipped when the url is formed.
What I see in url bar: http://vgcollect.com/wishlist/2
What should be there http://vgcollect.com/wishlist/mityay/2

I'm not able to add items to my collection or wishlist in Chrome, Firefox or IE, all latest versions.  I tried a few different items from multiple system types just to make sure.  I can check items and make the bar with the 3 buttons pop up, but clicking them gives me a javascript error.

Firefox error:
TypeError: temp is undefined in search-add-collection function
   temp = temp.split('_');

Chrome error:
Uncaught TypeError: Cannot call method 'split' of undefined

Is this from item detail pages?

Also try refeshing cache or manually loading the js files. I'm out to dinner right now so it'll be a bit before I can look.

From the item browsing pages, like http://vgcollect.com/browse/3doaccessory

I tried the individual item pages, they seem to work fine.  I hadn't been to the site in IE or FF before, so those were totally fresh.

Enjoy your dinner, I'm just having fun checking out the updates.  :)

I can get to the forums (obviously) but when I go to my collection or wishlist page I get a page that only seems to want to partially load. Hitting refresh doesn't seem to help. This is through chrome.

As I'm typing this I tried it with firefox and it seems to load fine so maybe it's a chrome issue?

Each browser seems to cache DNS as well. This should itself out as DNS finally resolves.

Thanks my man! ok, here's the scoop... It works perfectly with Internet Explorer, however Chrome does not display the "delete" or "edit" buttons when you put your mouse over the game.

So let me tell you.... I used to use RFgeneration a long time ago, but that site is poop compared to yours ;)  I know those guys work hard as well, and I give them a lot of credit, but after their servers crashed multiple times, and I lost days worth of cataloging, I packed up my bags and left. I just couldn't trust them anymore.  Luckily for me and many others, your site was just being born. And now 3 years later, this site is really coming into it's own, and I recommend it to every game collector i meet.

love it!  8)

Thanks for the kind words! We had a bad server crash a few years back as well. Now we've got a great backup plan in place just to be safe. We have a rolling 5 day backup in place so each day the entire server is backed up each day and stored for 5 days.

As for you Chrome issue. It sounds like the old javascript files are cached.

Same here.

Just added 2 items.

I can see them in my collection by going "other" ==> "strategy guides"; and then, scrolling down the page - they show up just fine.

BUT - they're not showing up in the sig -AND- the # of items isn't increasing by +2 either.

I just did some testing and the Sig image isn't updating currently because it's looking for info from the old database, rather than the new one.

The Number of items in your collection on the sidebar is going up with additions like it should be though.

So I had the forums open in one tab and logged out of my VGCollect account in another tab.  I closed both tabs and logged back in to the main site, but now when I click on the forum link it shows that I am not logged into the forums.  When I click login on the forum page I get sent back to my collection page.  I have tried clearing the cache, but that did not do anything.  I am still able to access the forum with Internet Explorer, but not Chrome.

Anyhow, found one more issue (using chrome here).... when adding a new game to my collection, when picking the date i purchased, if i don't pick all 3 entries (month, day, year), it does not save the date at all.  If I choose 2 (month, year) it will not save.

But I never got an email to reset my password.  I thought it may have to do with the crappy unsecure password I used back when I made my account in 2011 so I changed it, but got the same result.

Well I tried reinstalling Chrome, but I am still getting the same issue.  I also tried to recreate the same problem on Internet Explorer, but I was still able to access the forums.  I also just installed Firefox so I could post the results if I did lock myself out of the forums with IE.  However, when I logged in I was not able to login to the forums just like Chrome, I just get sent back to my collection page.  This was on a clean install on my first login.  It's weird that IE is the browser that is actually working...

As of now it isn't. It's still sitting on the old server and hasn't been moved over. The plan was to move strictly towards one site but a few people have mentioned that they miss the old site so I may reconsider. This new site should work well on a phone. Scott and I have been testing and tweaking things all week.

When I log in w/ Firefox, it seems like it takes forever to process my request before it finally takes me to the feed. I'll have to check it on Chrome to see if it's the same.

I've noticed slow logins as well. Haven't been able to track down the source.

Is there anyway you can make the "Add to Collection" pop up a little smaller?  When you use it on an iPhone, you can't click submit because it's too close to the bottom.

I have VGCollect in my favorites, but that only gives me a 404 screen. And i use Chrome.

I noticed on my Phone's Chrome browser that it's linked to: vgcollect.com/feed/scott which gives me a 404. Which I think is a coding issue because when you click the Feed link on the main page it takes you to vgcollect.com/feed instead.

I'll look into this. I just tested it and you are right..now enough room on the small screen.

Oh it's on my chrome's "most visited pages" quick bookmarks. I thought it was going to vgcollect/scott but apparently not.

Ahh gotcha. Yeah on the old site it was "/feed/username" and on the new site it is just "/feed".

There's some weird caching issue going on. I approved some image edits to Spartan: Total Warrior (http://vgcollect.com/item/1028) that burningdoom submitted... and they're not showing up.

I only noticed this because his signature hasn't updated itself.

Edit: Apparently there's a problem with the back box artwork too. Clicking on the image thumbnails doesn't show it in the item like before, it just gives a 404 error.

Yep and fixed. The folder that holds the thumbsnails wasn't writable. Also fixed a few other paths that were causing issues.

I tried adding a game with front & back box art, but the site gave me an error it said something like "error can't copy", but the game was added anyway without the back box art. I thought it didn't so I went back and tried again, which ended up giving some dupes(reported in the dupe thread)

Man I thought I had it fixed but I guess not. Doing more testing now.

/EDIT - back box was causing issues. Just fixed and tested Submitted a new item and editing an old. All  should work as planned.

It almost worked. Ive added the back scans later and they got approved. But now they won't enlarge when you click on them.

Edit,
Today new game additions show back and front scan. Yesterday's edit to add back scans like this game http://vgcollect.com/item/54150 (http://vgcollect.com/item/54150) won't enlarge the back scan. Only 6 games from me.

Hi Matt,

Just a quick question, are you still thinking about implementing the "customizable" list or a "now playing" list? (next to wish/sell lists) Since the update is up and running and looking great, any plans for this feature in the near future?

Thanks in Advance  :D

Customizable lists are still on the long list of features. I'd love to implement but really haven't made any decisions on it. I'll be sitting down in the next week or 2 to map out the following year and will post an updated to do list.

Another weird thing I've noticed about chrome and maybe I have to clear something but on my old bookmark the URL was http://vgcollect.com/feed/atarileaf

which doesn't work now, the correct URL leaves out the "feed" part but even though I deleted the old URL and saved the new one, it sometimes (only sometimes) will try to default to the old URL and give me a 404 error. I have to manually remove the "feed" part of the url to get it to work. Weird.

Hmm can't really explain that one. There is no code left that point to that old URL. There must be something cached somewhere.

Hey Matt -

Not a big deal, or anything -but- when you're on the "Home" page and you click on:

(a).  "Items",

(b).  "Followers", and/or

(c).  "Following"...

...they all bring you to the same "Items"/"Collection" page (instead of showing you who your followers are/who you're following, etc).

*EDIT*:

Check-out Matt's above post #999...

...Is he gonna' break 1,000 today  :o

Seems that info pages for games are not correctly displaying Japanese and Korean languages....  Might be others as well, but those are the only ones in my collection to my knowledge....  Sorry if this has been brought up already, my mother's illness has kept me too busy the last few weeks to stay active....

Yep. Unfortunately the previous site borked up anything that wasn't in Roman letters - and it screwed up some English punctuation too.

All Japanese text that was edited during that time will have to be re-added...

So I'm not sure if this affect anyone else, but the new version does not display very well on cell phones (or at least a Galaxy S3)....  The predominant issue being that it is quite difficult to redirect from one section of your collection to another....  To jump from ps2 to ps3 I have to edit the address bar for example from ***/***/PS2 to ***/***/PS3....  It can be mildly cumbersome....

Actually it's pretty simple. Try doing this:

Click the "..." on the upper left corner
(https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/21697512/Screenshot_2014-02-27-08-59-20.png)

And it brings up the console list
(https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/21697512/Screenshot_2014-02-27-08-59-25.png)

If you click the ":" on the right hand side it'll bring up this list:

After a significant amount of time spent following your instructions Scott, I have determined the problem....  While technically your info is 100% correct, the 3-dot icon is only in the corner of the screen while you are logged in....  I use a Galaxy S3 and after poking around, it seems that I do not remain logged in from page to page all the time on my mobile....  While I am on the go I use the mobile site to remind myself of what I do/don't need and check my friends' lists to see if they might want something....  Seeing as I was apparently not logged in from the get go, it was difficult to pinpoint this....  Thanks for assisting me in straightening it out....  Not to seem super lazy, but would the lack of the 3-dot icon be a security feature to prevent unregistered users from viewing profiles then~?  I can continue relogging until I fix my issue, but....  okay, yeah, I'm just being super lazy.... >.>'
