Title: April 2014 - Recently Added to Collection/Recently Purchased
Post by: karyann on April 01, 2014, 01:14:45 pm
Ah ha! My turn to start it!  :P

I just got a package from Amazon: the Professor Layton movie! It's not the best movie, but I do love professor Layton, so I wanted it anyway.

I also bought Arc Rise Fantasia for $15 yesterday, but that was wayyy back in March, so it's not fit for this topic.  ::)

Got something pretty sweet in the mail today. A Castlevania Vampire Cross necklace! It's nice too, doesn't feel cheap and has a good amount of weight to it, which is nice. Totally rocking it too (the packaging will go in storage).

Popped by a thrift shop that is close by to me, though I rarely seem to ever go there, and I went pretty late in the day, so I expected very little there, but I did find the old large size PS1 system there, with a memory card and non-analog controller, for only 9 bucks after tax.  Don't know if it works yet, but it's more just to have for the collection as I have a PS2 and a PS1 Mini to play the old Playstation games if I want to.

Also found a PS2 Fatty there, but for 34 bucks, it wasn't a real good deal to me, especially since they don't offer refunds and don't say if they are working or not (Unlike the good Salvation Army I usually find stuff at where they specifically say the system works).  I'll take a 9 dollar chance on a broken PS1, but not a 34 dollar chance on a broken PS2 lol

I love me some G&W! I only have 6 so far. I would pick 'em up more often if it weren't for some of the price tags.

Awww, the PS1 I got seems to not be working.  It turns on, runs the games, in fact, the system is nearly spotless, like it is in glorious shape, not a spec of dust on it, inside looks great too, but I can't seem to get my controllers to work.  I have two, one that came with this console and it doesn't work at all, no registering.

That sucks. But at least if you really want a good working one, it won't cost much to replace it.

Yeah it's not too big of a deal for what I spent, it was really mostly just gonna be for show when I'm able to put all my consoles out over actually using it as I'd just rather use my PS2 to save on space.

You just made me realise I never cheked mine to see if it was genuine or not. I was especially worried since I don't remember AT ALL where I got it (I was reorganizing my games one day, and when I saw it I was all "What, I have Minish Cap? Okay then"). But seems like it's genuine, phew!

I am always careful with this will all GBA and DS games, especially the popular and expensive titles. About 6-month ago I almost bought a fake Minish Cap for $20, but luckily I checked the cart out thoroughly before checking out. The worst are the Pokemon games; I actually see more fakes then authentic ones, really sad :(

Yeah I picked up a bootleg Pokemon game in a yard sale last year.  Was surprising to me because I guess I just didn't expect to see them around here - and it looked like it was originally purchased from GS.  Luckily I bought it with several other games and paid very little for it - maybe a buck or so - so it was no loss other than the game itself, which I tossed.

Yeah, I am really careful too now. I've never been screwed yet, luckily, but I know that GBA games are way too easy to bootleg.

Are DS games easy to bootleg too? It's the first time I've heard of it  :-\

Yep, the only ones that can't be bootlegged (as far as I  know) are 3DS games.

While I've been ill, I managed to still add a few PS1 games to the library - Jersey Devil, Tai Fu, and Spiro Year of the Dragon! Trying to cover a lot of PS1 platforming ground.

EDIT: Of course I would forget my coolest find of the year. Darksiders II, brand new for $5.

I picked it up as well.  I almost bit when it was about $30 or so a week or two ago, but passed on it.  Glad I did, since i was able to get this better deal on it.  Should look great next to my Vampire Hunter D artbook of Amano's work.

I've seen several recent 'overlooked game' reviews that featured it, so I was excited to come across it this morning and add it to my collection.  That also only leaves 4 Konami games left for me to find.  Sadly, TMNT Tournament Fighters is still one of them  :(

Why get Tournament Fighters on NES when you can get it for SNES or Genesis? They're MUCH better versions. Better graphics, better sound, and better controllers for a fighter (6-button in the Genesis's case).

I had ordered both of the Fallout GOTY editions for PS3 for $10/each the other day and they arrived today.  I've played through New Vegas (mostly on the 360, but then converted my save to PC & finished it there) and started F3 several times but never got more than probably 10-12 hours in for whatever reason.  I got them mainly for my RPG collection, but I'll probably at least fire up F3 again at some point.

I think I officially lost my mind because this now makes the fourth Intellivision that I now own. I really wanted a model II and it was up for a decent price so I said screw it. Also picked up some ColecoVision games the best among them being Frenzy the sequel to Berzerk.

Not a good day for finds for me, Flea Market had very little other than a couple common NES games I didn't want to buy for 5 bucks a piece, and some modern games, though I did grab Devil May Cry HD Collection on 360 and Final Fantasy Crystal Bearers on Wii for 5 bucks each.

I made my run to the retro store today and decided to finally buy the Super Famicom Legend of Zelda which has the box and game, no manual sadly, but it's cool to have with the box.  I don't really need it for my Zelda collection, but it's one of those cool bonus items to add in when I can.

Also decided to grab a Paper Mario on 64 for the heck of it.  I never really played it back when it was out, so figured I'd pop in sometime.

And finally just grabbed Brutal Legend on 360 for 4 bucks, because I could, even if I have it on PS3 and had it on 360 originally before a trade in awhile back.  I just love that game lol  Oh and I forgot I bought it on Steam.  Just a big supporter of that game.

Very cool. I've been eyeing one of those models myself at a local used video game shop. She wants $50 for it. The problem I'm having is that I'm not sure it's worth $50 for me, since I'm not that big on the classic arcade-style of gaming. There are other games I want on it, though, like the Masters of the Universe, D&D games, that surgery game, and the pre-Civilization sim game (can't remember the name of it right now).

Buy the European versions. Here its usually the US versions that are fake.

$50 isn't a bad price assuming it has both controllers and the power supply. Although I'd recommend the first model over the model II as the controllers are better especially the keypad. Also the model II won't play Donkey Kong, Carnival and Venture.
Arcade style games are what the vast majority of it's library is comprised off. So if you don't enjoy those kind of games it'd be tough for me to recommend it. Although Advanced Dungeons and Dragons (the first one) and the Intellivision version of Burgertime are worth owning the system for right there.

I went yard sale-ing this morning which was a complete bust.  Keep in mind I'm far from what you would even sorta call an urban area, plus people aren't in full swing with yard sales yet, so I probably hit < 20 sales.  And I'd say at least 3/4 of those were mainly baby clothes.  Seriously, who is buying all these freaking baby clothes?   :o  Just piles & piles of them.  If they have anything else, it's usually a pile of books that no one on the planet has ever wanted to read, ever.  I should have stayed in bed.

Part of me would love to make a major move far away from this place.  But I still have family here that I feel obligated to stay for.

I feel you there. 90% of garage sales are clothes and books, all the time  :-\ It's incredible. Clothes sell pretty well in lot on kijiji/craigslist, and for the price they usually ask for books, they could just give them away to charities. Such a waste of space!

I have a friend in Japan right now and said he'd be interested in getting me stuff from there, so I might consider getting a a few more cause they do have a pretty standout look to them.  In particular, I really want the N64 Zeldas and the original Zelda from Japan.  Mostly just depends on the price right now.

I've got a pretty good amount of games this month so far and it's only the 6th haha.

So here's what I got!

A couple of days ago, I ordered :
 - Xenoblade Chronicles
 - Blazblue : Continuum Shift EXTEND Limited Edition

and pre-ordered Conception II : Children of the Seven Stars [Launch Edition].

Yesterday I bought a PS2 lot which included :
 - Resident Evil : The Essentials
 - Hitman Trilogy
 - Devil May Cry
 - Devil May Cry 2
 - Viewtiful Joe
 - Viewtiful Joe 2
 - Metal Gear Solid 2 : Substance
 - Final Fantasy X
 - Monster Hunter
 - Swashbucklers : Blue vs. Grey
 - Disaster Report
 - Phantasy Star Universe
 - Drakan : The Ancients' Gates
 - The Bouncer
 - Dynaster Warriors 4
 - Shadow of the Colossus

I also have Demon Gaze Limited Edition and Hakuoki : Stories of the Shinsengumi Limited Edition pre-ordered which will be released later this month.

I consider that it's a lot and I've never really bought/pre-ordered that much within a couple of days but hey, I feel happy about it (not my wallet though :/ haha).

I've got a pretty good amount of games this month so far and it's only the 6th haha.

So here's what I got!

A couple of days ago, I ordered :
 - Xenoblade Chronicles

I wish I could go back & play Xenoblade for the first time - such an incredible game.  Enjoy!   :D

I've had Xenoblade since day one and just started playing it this weekend.  Only 2-3 hours in, but it already seems like an enormous game.

It is.  I think the only game this gen I've clocked in more time in a single playthrough is Skyrim.

I got an actual physical game!

CSI: Deadly Intent for PC for $2. I'm only missing one CSI game now (and a US version of 3 Dimensions of Murder) and I'll have all the games released for PC.

Went to Thrillhouse Games, bought a few things (mostly unremarkable, saving money). Bout 5 sports games for the Genny for $2. DDR Universe 2 for 0.99. These consists of my filler games. 6 for $3. Not bad.

Then I bought Golden Axe for Master System and 2 Lynx games CIB (Crystal Mines 2 and Steel Talons). All $6 a piece.

I couldn't take it anymore - I swung by Best Buy after work & grabbed the PS4 version of Dynasty Warriors 8.  I'm having serious withdrawals from going too long without mass slaughtering hundreds of ancient Chinese soldiers.   ;D

And Kenny, the boxes arrived & look great.  :)

I have been looking for Pac-Pack for a while since I have had the box and manual for a couple of years, but the disc inside was Pac-Man: Adventures in time ha.

Heh, reminds me - earlier this year when I got my first Pac-Man glass I was trying to think of something I could put in it and I thought it'd look cool if it was filled with old arcade tokens.  Figured you could probably get those cheap on ebay.

I was wrong.   :o

Ya I wanted to get a bunch of legit arcade tokens to use in my Mame cabinet (It's set up to only take credits for tokens). But I was shocked to see how much some of these go for. I really wanted some old Cedar Point tokens. :\

And I also just got it, but the standard edition. I just wanted the game but not digitally, so it was on sale at Play-Asia and I got it there (the game wasn't released physically in Canada, as far as I can find... so apparently getting it from japan was the best choice).

Finally a beautiful day for garage sales and though there wasn't a lot of sales going on, I still found some cool stuff.

Wii
First sale I hit was a nice find, Found a bunch of Wii games paid $30 for all of them.
I would have gotten more but a reseller got there too and nabbed a few of the games while I was looking through them.   :-\
Here's what I did get. most all CIB
- EA Active Personal Trainer
- Captain America: Super Solder
- The Secret Saturdays: Beasts of the 5th Sun
- Need for Speed Nitro
- Tournament of Legends
- Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games
- Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
- Super Smash Bros. Brawl (missing manual)
- Mario Party 9  ;D
- Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn  ;D

N64
A few sales later I come across a Nintendo 64 with all hook-ups and a Grey Controller with one game for $10.
- Doom 64

And last a sale that an old gentleman was having turned out to be a fellow Game Collector He was getting rid of some of his collection but mostly the odds and ends. He wasn't looking to sell his NES/SNES/Genesis collection, He even told me he had a large collection of Game & Watches. (drool) lol. I did get these three things that he sold for $2 a piece.
- Pac-Man Puzzle (CIB)
- Hit & Missile
- Bowlatronic with box but its got a huge hole in it. (for $2 i can't complain)

Overall not a bad day for me.  Flea Market wasn't too great, nothing good game wise in particular other than some NES, SNES, and Genesis games for 5 bucks a pop, but it was all kind of common throwaway stuff.  For a buck maybe, but I did buy an NES and Genesis from the same person for about 15 bucks.  Neither have cords, don't need them for the NES, but the Genesis will be lacking for abit.  Also got two strategy guides, Rogue Squadron for the N64 and Wave Race Blue Storm on GC.

Thrift shops were crap, went to at least a half dozen on my big round and found only a Gamecube Controller and Star Wars Battlefront 2 on PC at the very last one before I headed home.

The retro game shop though gave me tons of goodies.  I got a fantastic condition boxed Japanese Ocarina of Time on N64 to add to my collection and with me being able to play Genesis soon once I get cords, I bought...

Sonic 1
Sonic 2
Sonic & Knuckles
Sonic Spinball
Jungle Strike
Desert Strike
Urban Strike
Vectorman

...All boxed except for Knuckles.  Don't have a ton of needs on the Genesis right now, mostly just Sonic 3, Sonic & Knuckles Boxed, but I'll have that to play soon.

A mixed trip this weekend, but good overall.  I'll grab some pictures of the Japanese N64 Zelda here soon along with the Genesis haul.

Guh, just my luck, the NES won't stop blinking.  Terrible with the console finds and until I find some cords, I can't tell if the Genesis is bad either lol What's the usual thing to see about cleaning up and possibly fixing an NES? I know about replacing the pin connector, which I might just look at doing.

Kinda cool I thought in the Urban Strike case, is that the original receipt from when the guy bought is there.  Bought it in Feburary 1993 for 50 bucks in New Jersey and it made it all the way down to Southwest Florida lol

Take 15 min and take the NES apart. Just clean the pin connector and bend the pins back so it holds a tight grip on the cart. It doesn't take long, and I haven't bought a new 72 pin connector yet. I bet I've had 20+ NESs pass through my hands and this hasn't failed me yet.

Hit up pretty much every store in Maine this weekend while heading Down State to visit some family. Pickup just a few items. Just some standards I didn't own yet. To honest there's basically 5 or 6 retro game stores in Maine and their pretty small.

Metroid Prime Trilogy (Gamestop repo box release)
Super Mario Galaxy 1 (non-Ninendo Selects)
Metroid (NES)
Kid Icurus
Jet Force Gemini
Mega Man Anniversary Collection (GameCube)
Defender (2600)
Sin & Punishment Star Successor

Earlier Online Pickups:
Bubble Bobble (Famicom Disk System)
SoulCalibur II (GameCube)
Metroid II (from theflea)
Game & Watch: Lifeboat

Bought Dragon's Dogma on PS3 today as I'm gonna give it another go, never gave it a fair shake when I first played it and it's at a nice cheap price now used.  Also grabbed Bulletstorm Limited Edition, cause it was only 5 bucks lol I have it on PC, but been wanting to fool around with it again cause it's kind of an underrated game.  Shame it didn't too well.  We need more shooters that are less serious.

Also, no go on pin bending for the connector on the NES.  The pins actually do look abit on the rusted side as I noticed when lifting them up, so I think the connector has kind of bit the dust, but we'll see when I get the new connector.

Nice haul!

There is, however, only one reason to own a Jaguar and judging by your collection you don't have it - Defender 2000.   ;)

Don't forget about Zool 2!   :)  Amazing game...

Recently added to my collection:

Lollipop chainsaw for the 360.  I stole it from my wife's DVD movie collection from the living room.  She never plays her 360 and will never even notice that it is now in my collection.   ;)

My boyfriend and I just share our games. It's to his advantage though, because I own 99% of them, but hey :P

I got an e-mail from Amazon at 7 AM saying it was just shipped. At 1 PM Google Now told me it was marked as delivered. I'm amazed by the speed (pretty sure they shipped it yesterday though, they seem to often do that), and I'm also excited to get home!  ;D I hope they didn't smash the box like they did Bravely Default, though  :o

I'm very open about my hate with this game lol I loved the first 3 games (Since GTA3), but that one is just a disaster.  The engine and city looked good, but Niko is awful, Roman is awful, they removed customization and most things to buy, the car physics are terrible, there are really not many good side missions, the story is bland, you have no reason to have money, the friendship crap is abysmal...It's easily the worst GTA game I played.

To me GTA IV was where the series started taking itself way too seriously.  The PS2 games were guilty of this to some degree but they still had a sense of everything being tongue-in-cheek.  With GTA IV (and what little I played of V, which admittedly wasn't much) the series just feels much more dark & bleak to me.  I much prefer Saint's Row, give me straight-up silly anyday over melodramatic.

Saints Row 2 came out the same year later on and it was an absolutely better game in pretty much every way.  It might not have been quite as stable and good looking as GTAIV, but man was it a hell of a lot more fun with tons of stuff to do.

I was pissed off about this earlier but it turned into a good deal. I pre-ordered the game from Best buy over a month ago and paid in full for it. I go in there today and apparently it didnt register as a pre-order in their system so it was never shipped. I had to get a return of the cash and run off to Gamestop to see if they had some. They had one shrink wrapped copy still so I snatched up pretty quickly. The guy at the counter asked me "Anything else you need?" and I jokingly said "Tales of Symphonia CE". He looked on his computer and one of his other stores (he was the regional manager) has one still brand new. Its getting transferred over and Im picking it up tomorrow! :D

No, I mean Saints Row 2.  Both GTA4 and SR2 were released in 2008.  SR3 didn't come out till 2011.

Agreed fully. It's not nearly as charming as San Andreas/Vice City, and not as fun either. It was just very bleak, and optimization for consoles wasn't the best at the time, so it had a low frame rate.

It's 2014 and the PC port of the game barely runs properly. Though that's mostly because of the two to three layers of DRM on top of the game. :P

Whaddya' mean "almost"?!  :o

When I said "when you're with another one"...I didn't mean *literally* out somewhere with a girl & you see another one ==> I meant that, us guys can go through 'dry spells' where, for long stretches at a time...it'll seem like no matter where we go/look; we just can find anyone that's what we're looking for.

What I really meant by "when you're with another one"...is that you'll already be spoken for (*usually*, right after you start seeing someone new after a good, long while of not seeing anyone) ==> it's like - all of the sudden, females must have ("he's already") "taken" *radar* or something because, -and- this is inevitable...as soon as we start seeing someone new...we'll be getting hit-on by girls left & right!  :-\

Haha, you didn't need to elaborate - I was just teasing you ;)

I don't know if it usually applies to girls, but I have been hit on only once since I've started being in a relationship (and it was some dude who only wanted to have a girlfriend, anyone with female attributes, so that doesn't really count). I'm glad too, because it's more often awkward than anything else.  ???

Its pretty heavy; I ordered it back when Amazon had it on sale for like $17 but it was out of stock. I Completely forgot about it and then a package showed up at my door, which I was expecting that day cause Conception 2 had shipped. The box was huge and marked heavy... needless to say I was confused. I was pleasantly surprised to see it when i opened the box up. Words really cant dont do it justice. I'm not normally one to buy art books but this thing is amazing!!!

Look out guys, we've got a smooth operator on our hands!

Slow month, unlike the past two months I don't have a bunch of money saved up so I can't just go on a shopping binge. All I got so far is this copy of Forbidden Siren, not only is it a great game I don't often see around the thing about this is that it's actually a promo copy, pretty neat. I don't know how much one of those is worth, probably nothing much but I never owned one before so I decided to get it.

I just I get to hit up the flea market at least once this month and find something good.

Man was today awesome.  I went out to the thrift shops cause I was bored and I'm not likely to make my Saturday run to them, didn't expect to find much since it was into the afternoon, stopped by one, didn't find much, so went to the Salvation Army.  I found an entire stockpile of Dreamcast games.  16 in total with a sealed Web Browser 2.0, all for 2 bucks a pop! And they weren't all sports games! In fact there was only like 2 or 3 sports games and a fishing game in it.

Sadly there was no Dreamcast there to go with it as I would've liked, but not bad at all. Hyped up on that, I drove down to the other Salvation Army I visit and found 9 more Dreamcast games! This one was mostly sports titles, but at a dollar a pop, I can't complain at all.

I don't know if I plan to keep them or not, I don't particularly have a strong desire to have a Dreamcast collection, I've been trying to decide if I want to focus on abit of everything or just on cartridge with disk stuff on the side for what I really want, so I might get rid of these if I don't come across a Dreamcast soon as Nintendo and Sega are gonna be what I focus on.  25 games right off the bat is nice for a collection though, especially since I didn't get a single double.

List of games...
-Atari Anniversary Edition
-Trick Style
-Ready 2 Rumble Boxing
-UFC
-Sega Sports NHL2K
-Sega Sports NCAA 2K2
-Sega Bass Fishing
-Sega Sports World Series Baseball 2K2
-Sega Sports NFL 2K2
-Sega Sports NFL 2K
-Speed Devils Online Racing
-Hidden & Dangerous
-Virtua Fighter 3tb (The heck is 3tb? lol)
-Sega All Stars Crazy Taxi
-Crazy Taxi 2
-Sega Marine Fishing
-Quake 3 Arena
-Tony Hawk Pro Skater
-Virtua Tennis
-4x4 Evo
-Star Wars Episode 1 Racer
-Soul Calibur
-102 Dalmations
-Eighteen Wheeler
-Web Browser 2.0

I was disappointed by both of the Galaxy games basically reverting to old traditional Mario ways that should've been left to the handheld titles, but I've been meaning to give them another play sometime.  I have the first one, but not Galaxy 2.

Picked up a Genesis model 2 to replace my model 1 with a bad controller 1 port. It was supposed to be a model 1 but they shipped me the wrong one. The problem was all my power/video cables were for the model 1.

I can't complain too much because the seller refunded my money and told me to keep the console.

Also picked up:
Zoda's Revenge for NES.
A 50 pack of tabbed 2016 batteries for my game boy carts.
Duck Tales 2

I really liked Mario Galaxy. Haven't played 2 but I beat 1.

I liked that it was a throw back in a lot of ways.

New Super Mario Bros for the DS is also a great throwback but way too short.

I agree completely.  Tho I think you were also the one that agreed with me about hating the Mario formula that started with 64 where you have to keep revisiting the same world, so I guess that makes sense.  I also need the 2nd one for collection purposes but I don't want to pay very much at all for it.

I got Conception II yesterday.  I guess more accurately I got Conception II in the mail from Best Buy on Weds, crushed because they shipped it in an envelope, so I returned it yesterday and bought a mint copy at Gamestop.  Po-ta-to, Po-tah-to.  ;)

I popped in some of the recent PS2 games I picked up about a week ago just to test them out, and found myself getting pulled into Juno right away.  Gave off a really big Onimusha vibe, but with more of a horror slant obviously.  Has anyone here played it?  Just wondering if it's actually pretty good or if it goes downhill.  Also curious to know about how long it is.  :)

EDIT:  Juno?   ???  What is wrong with me!  :P  That should say Kuon

Yeah, being careful not to brag as that's not my style. I have to thank UrbanChaos for parting with his copy. :-) It's been on my wish list for a while.

Bought it to play and keep, not to collect per-se. It just happens to be a more expensive game than most. In fact I think it's the most I'm willing to pay for any game no matter how good.

It's funny in that last month I picked up:

Guerilla War NES
Mario Land Game Boy
Metriod II Game Boy
Dr. Mario NES
Double Dragon II
SMS Constroller
Double Dragon SMS
Zelda Oracle of Seasons GBC
Snes Advantage
Genesis Arcade Stick
Donkey Kong Jr. (Coleco vision)

All together for only $30 more than what I paid for Duck Tales 2.

I love the local shop here. The more you buy the better the discount. :-)

I love the Mario 64 formula lol I want 3D Mario games to go back to that.  The reason I don't like Mario games as much Post-Sunshine is because they basically dropped most of that stuff, with Super Mario Galaxy 2 dropping the hub world entirely.  I don't want the linear Super Mario 3 lines to follow with small individual levels, I want big open worlds to explore like in Mario 64.  The Mario games, 2D or 3D are basically interchangeable now with how little the differences are with them.  The next Mario game I just want it to be a massive version of Mario 64 lol

Oooops, sorry, confused you with someone else it seems.  ;)  Yeah, I don't mind open explorable levels at all - I just hate having to keep going back into the same level over & over for different "goals" - just let me do everything at once or something.  Always was a very distracting system imo.

I could see it as a limitation of the old consoles, but I want them to have those big cool standalone levels, but you just explore them how you want to get the stars and stay for however long you can till you need maybe to unlock some item to advance further.  That's just some of my favorite platforming and it was the best on N64.  It's why my favorite games are Super Mario 64 and the Rareware platformers lol

Came across a bunch of Intellivision stuff this weekend for a pretty good price, considering there's some harder to find titles in there.  Here's what I picked up:

- Intellivision system (boxed, in decent condition)
- White Water
- He-Man
- Kool Aid Man
- Zaxxon
- Mission X
- Motocross
- Atlantis
- Beauty and the Beast
- BurgerTime
- NASL Soccer
- Tron Maze-A-Thon (CIB)
- Space Spartan (CIB - Intellivoice game)

Only a couple of the Intellivoice titles left to find now.  Tron Solar Sailer should be doable, but the Baseball game is not gonna happen unless I luck across it.  It's currently over $100. :(

I found this really cool video game book at Goodwill today. "Video Games: The Ultimate Guide". It has reviews of a quoted "over 1000 games" with pics

The cover boasts that it includes PS1, N64, Dreamcast, PS2, PC, and Game Boy/GBC games. But it also has a section in the back that covers older systems up to Saturn and all the way back to Atari 2600 and ZX Spectrum! And it even has a "preview" section that looks into the GameCube, XBox, and GBA.

This will do me well as video game collector. Well worth $2!

Awesome pickups especially Zaxxon. It's getting harder to find that one at a decent price. The Intellivsion version of Zaxxon IMO is much more playable than the one for the 2600. In both versions it's nearly impossible to judge altitude but at least the Intellivision version the enemies are color coded to the altitude meter.
Beauty and the Beast, Burgertime and Atlantis are awesome and some of the best games for the system. I despise Tron Maze a Tron however very overly complicated game that just isn't much fun.

Re-Bought Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts today.  At the time it came out, I thought it was okay, but as I'm sure all the fans were thinking, it was not the game any one wanted.  I mostly want it for the Banjo-Kazooie collection, but I'm gonna get back to playing it for some fun since it's far removed from those times of wanting Banjo-Kazooie 3 lol  It's not a bad game at all, the build a car feature is pretty sweet actually, but everyone wanted a brand new HD 3D Platformer that we just never got and never will because Rare is dead :\

Picked up a few Vectrex items online:

Light pen with Art Master (pen, cart, instructions), Fortress of Narzod (cart only), Star Castle (cart and overlay) and a Spin Ball overlay.

Hopefully I'll hear back from another seller and I'll be able to pick up the last three games I need on this system. Then I'll just need overlays for Bedlam, Fortress of Narzod, Hyperchase, Pole Position and Scramble.

Added some essentials to my NES collection. Legacy of the Wizard I actually found at Goodwill today, for only $3.99!

i was playing faxanadu last week. really frustrating.

I tried it when I was a kid and thought it was fun. I do remember grinding like hell for moneyz though.

I've been quiet on the new game front, mostly because I've been downsizing my collection to get money for the new rig. I did pick up a motherboard and CPU combo plus a sound card, now I need to get some RAM, a CPU cooler, and a PSU and I can start building the new system (the CPU has integrated video, I can work with that while I get a video card.)

I have been getting some stuff for Steam... Guess I should list it. :p

* I picked up LEGO Harry Potter Years 1-4, LEGO Harry Potter Years 4-7, and LEGO Lord of the Rings last weekend;
* I got Aliens Colonial Marines Season Pass, the cosmetic / weapon DLCs, the three Typing of the Dead: Overkill DLCs I was missing, and a digital game called Operation Matriarchy (yes, really) on Gamersgate thanks to a friend who got them for me at a discount;
* And using the Gamersgate credit I had from previous purchases and the recent gifts, I bought Binary Domain and its DLC for $1. XD

Oh and I got Fable 1 on PC in exchange for a $1 game. XD

I'm waiting for Demon Gaze to get here, amazon.ca have been total crap recently so I'm not gonna use them anymore, at least for a while. I should have it hopefully next week, but most likely the week after... Unless I complain again (that would be 4 orders in a row that shipped late, and the third one of those that I'll be complaining about to them).

As for the house, well. Waiting on my mortgage broker to finalize everything with the lender (calling him today, actually), then I have to meet with a lawyer to sign some papers, and by mid-may I'll have my keys and will be able to start moving stuff. Visiting the house again today too, gotta measure stuff.

I was googling trying to find a better front cover image for the Demon Gaze CE (tried scanning, it's too reflective and/or my scanner sucks because that did NOT work) and I came across some pretty...risque images that are apparently screenshots from the game.  Didn't realize it was that racy.  :P

Yeah, that's my bad...I don't have a scanner & couldn't find a great pic of the whole set...so I'll cop to going w/ the old any pic being better than NO pic in this case   :-\

No, I would have done the same thing.  I finally gave up searching for a replacement because there just wasn't one that I could find.

I want to try to scan one of those extra flattened Danganronpa boxes as well to see if I can get something better than what's currently on it.

Grabbed the PS2 versions of Everything or Nothing and Nightfire today from the Salvation Army, the 007 games and just realized that in the Nightfire case there was randomly placed copy of Agent Under Fire inside with Nightfire lol It's rather wrecked, not sure it works, but funny to find it there lol It's either Nightfire or Agent Under Fire I actually remember playing and generally enjoying, I just don't remember which.  I know most Bond games aren't really that good other than Goldeneye, but I can't complain about cheap games to much.

My mom and I went to the US  to get her driver's license renewed and on the way back we went to the local Toys'R'Us to get a gift for my nephew, who turns one year old on Sunday. (His father, my brother, turns 40 on Saturday. Go figure.)

Half the damn store was on clearance. I hit the game section and lots of things were on sale - and of course, since I'm not a modern console gamer like most everyone here, I couldn't really get much - but I did find Rock Band: Metal Track Pack for $2 after clearance discount. It says it's used so I hope it's not -too- scratched.

I also saw a pretty good PS3 headset that also works on PC for $24 (60% off). I'll be going back tomorrow to pick one up for myself and one for a buddy.

Nice, NARC is certainly an interesting game for the NES when you look at the "children's games" rep Nintendo has now.

Drug dealers, hypodermic needles, exploding people into pieces. Etc.

Great game for it's time. It was one of my first pickups.

Didn't know there was a NES Remix 2! Seeing videos of the first one almost made me want to buy a WiiU.

So, this happened yesterday.  I couldn't get away from work yesterday, so my wife went to pick this stuff up.  Craigslist deals still exist!  Dude kind of knew he had something, but "didn't know how to work ebay".  His loss is my game... er... I mean gain.

We did the video late last night.  This was actually the first time I'd looked through the stuff.  You get to enjoy it with me.

It's a little long, but it's worth it.

Absolute crap day at the yard sales today - got nothing at all from them except a .25 book about ancient China for my wife.

Would have been a complete waste of a morning if I hadn't thought about the clearance sale at TRU someone mentioned here yesterday.  I had been to the sale when it first started, but thought I'd swing back by to see if anything new had gone up or if the prices had dropped further.  That was a "yes" to both!  :)  Got these - I snagged the last copy they had of each one:

All for PS3:

Driver: San Francisco - $12
Warhammer 40k: Space Marine - $6
Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock - $4 (got this mainly because it came with a free Soundgarden greatest hits cd :D )
Skyrim: Legendary Ed. - $16

Skyrim was the biggie for me, I've been looking for a good deal on it.  Played & beat it on PC but wanted it for PS3 for my collection, plus I may play through it again for trophies.

Nice pickups! I'm still looking for SNES Battletoads (Battle Maniacs) and Super Metriod. Also you chose your companion wisely.

Really great find there.  I'm gonna have to go back to trying garage sales again I feel as I'm not finding anything else at the flea market or thrift shops lately, particularly the flea market as they've really dropped the amount of people doing garage sales.  Apparently once it hits the hot times down in SWFL, they aren't as likely to come out for that.

I didnt recently purchase anything but I did get a few things in the mail anyhow. Kenny sent me a collector's edition of Guided fate paradox. Ive been looking for a copy of the game and he knows Ive been wanting to play it. Also Anruiukimi sent me some slime patches for my riding vest and to compliment the rest of my DQ collection. What an awesome way to come home from work last night to see both of those things waiting for me!! :D

Got a lot of stuff in the mail last week, but these are the things I'm most excited about:

Nier Replicant & Nier Gestalt framed print, signed by Yoko Taro and Yosuke Saito. Was not cheap, but it'll look fantastic on my wall shelf in a box in my closet. I really need to get some better shelving. :(

North American promotional displays for Siren - 1 large display box (possibly part of an incomplete set?) and 1 small standee. Both are in good condition and were remarkably cheap to boot.

From left to right:
- Drag-On Dragoon 3 stick poster set - Zero and One. These things are surprisingly crease-resistant. They also came with a Drag-On Dragoon 3 pop-up display kit featuring all the major characters, but I'm frankly terrified to photograph it, as it's so delicate. I need to find a way to display it properly.
- Dengeki PlayStation 2004 calendar card set - bought full set, but only for the Drag-On Dragoon card. The Tales of Symphonia card was a pleasant surprise. ;D

Grabbed Resident Evil 4 for the Wii for 13 bucks which didn't seem too bad.  I don't actually like the Wii version very much, I had it when it first came out, but I thought the gun controls were terrible which was a shame as it's an amazing game.  Mostly just got it for collecting purposes.  Just need to grab the Gamecube version and Gamecube premium edition.

Haii!

I went to two flea markets this weekend close to where I live that I didn't know existed. Apparently, they take place every 6 months at the school I attended when I was 13-14. So, seeing as many people here get good stuff from flea markets, I had high hopes (plus, we rarely have flea markets other than 1 opened all year long which is about a 30 minutes drive from where I live so I don't go very often). Unfortunately, there was only 2-3 games on sale and they were Xbox's sports games.

So I decided to make a little road trip with one of my gaming friend to all the game stores we had time to go (we were able to go to 6). So here's what I got this weekend!

Pretty happy with Rush and Road Rage, I've been looking for them for a while. I loved those games when I was young so I can't wait to play them again.
Also found Kid Icarus and Y's CE brand new which I'm also really happy about.

And here's what I got in the mail today! Demon Gaze CE! :D

On Sunday morning I went gamehunting with my friend, her fiancé, and my boyfriend. It's been so long since I went gamehunting with another collector! Was lots of fun. My loot:

Playstation 3
Hatsune Miku: Project Diva F (currently enjoying the heck out of this. My boyfriend's friend can't wait for me to unlock items so he can play dress-up with Miku, haha)

Nintendo DS
Puyo Pop Fever
Fullmetal Alchemist: Dual Sympathy

Gameboy Advance
Megaman Battle Network 3: Blue Moon

Apart from Puyo Pop, I've been wanting these games since really long! I'm quite happy :)

I find that game to be harder than DDR, but maybe that's just because I have less practice for now  ??? And that's one awesome controller there! If it was maybe 5 times cheaper, I'd consider getting one for sure

Been super busy moving apartments. So, not much game buying or posting on VGCollect. However, I did pick up 3 sealed lynx games for a combined total of $18. Dirty Larry, Xybots, and Hydra. Not a crazy good selection, but the price seemed decent. It now brings my Lynx collection to 10 games total. Doing pretty well on the price per game too!

Picked up AnimAction, Melody Master and Polar Rescue (with overlay and manual) along with an overlay and manual for Hyper Chase and a manual for Scramble. Now I lack overlays for Fortress of Narzod, Pole Position and Scramble.

I also picked up Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth (DS), America's Test Kitchen Let's Get Cooking (DS) and Chaotic Shadow Warriors (PS3) for a buck a piece at Wally World.

The box on RotK IV was in a bit worse shape than I expected, but that's what I get for experimenting with a ebay auction with a stock photo. The contents were in great shape, so I'll live. Sim City and Liberty or Death were both pretty much mint, and both came in their protective boxes (or, how to tell you are buying from another collector...) I actually bought two in-box Daffy Ducks to part together a decent CIB, which means I'm up to three copies of the game right now. xD; I'm giving the extra box and game set to a friend, and I've thrown #3 under my bed with the other extras.

NES CIB: Due to argued ownership of DW II-IV (my mom and I are hopeless, long story :P,) I'm trying to get another set of CIBs of them all. DWII is missing the mailaway map, but DOES have that mailaway guide book, which was pretty rare. I'll get the map later.
DWIV is missing the weapons "map," and the label of the game is a bit sunworn on the spine, but ditto on the map getting later. For some reason, the guy included the original instructions to DWI, which I think he thought was part of the set.

3DS: Picked Zelda: LBW up complete, and in great shape from a Gamefly sale from earlier in the month. $25? Not too bad.

DS: The Kingdom Hearts one looked cute, so I picked it up while in a shopping mood a few days ago. It's still sealed. 5th Grader was a $1.25 addon ebay purchase to another item I was buying for a friend. Not too bad. :)
As for the other two? So, there's this nice fellow on NA who sells these random boxes of stuff, and I bought one from him. I ended up with a bunch of little bits I didn't need, two NES accessories I still haven't tested, 3 DS games, two of which I kept, 3 SNES games, two of which I'm keeping, a pile of XBox games, all of which were given away at work, a CDROM game too damaged to use, a few PS2 games I gave away, random 80s systems paper which I need to give away to someone, and these two CD-I games I need to sell for a few bucks or something. They appear to be in pretty great shape. :)

Wii: Cooking Mama was bought at a garage sale for $1. Disk is a bit scratched, but I think it'll work fine. The other 3 games were purchased at GS with a coupon. :)

PS2: Ring of Red is a replacement, because I like the game and I have no idea where my original disappeared to. RotK VIII is part of my goal to have all of the games in the series. :P

PS3: Jeopardy was bought the same time as Kingdom Hearts. LEGO Hobbit is actually round two, which I really should open. I returned my original after I noticed the case had a big crack, and the game was very jerky in the FMV sequences. Hopefully that was just a bad disk? :/

NES/SNES: The NES games were bought for $10 together at a garage sale. Yes, I know I overpaid, I was feeling too lazy to haggle. The SNES games were part of the random box.

Repros: This is probably it, barring me buying a Mother 3 somewhere or DQ: Caravan Heart suddenly being offered :3 All appear to work great, which is what I wanted. Kinda wish he would clean the cases before recycling them, but that's an easy fix. xD;

And, with this, I'm going on video game shutdown. I've bought far too much stuff in the last few months, and I need to curb it. I've got Hakuoki on order, but besides that, I'm keeping my play budget very low for the next few months to pay down my credit card...

PS: Don't leave all this stuff out when you have a cat. I turned around to find her walking across $100s of dollars in video games... ^^;
