Video Game Database Discussion / UPC conundrum (Ultimate Spider-man)

Ultimate Spider-man PS2 has a UPC in the database as 047875809291

The one I have has a UPC of 047875808935.
Looking up the one that is on the item record shows that it apparently came from a K-Mart computer. It is also the listed UPC on the Mobygames entry.

I have an edit in on the front box art. Here is the back artwork for now

So does this game actually exist with this UPC or is our entry wrong?

I didn't put this in Listing Errors as I believe it should be up to discussion first. This is concerning Super Bases Loaded for SNES:

I just go this and while finding the game was not difficult, I noticed that it isn't the full name. The box front & spine and cart front & spine all say "Ryne Sandberg Plays Super Bases Loaded." Based on the style guide, wouldn't this be the title actually used and then put "Super Bases Loaded" in the AKA field?

Site Feedback / Shorten Edit Checkbox clickable area

Is it possible to make the selectable area for the checkboxes in the Edit screen smaller? They currently extend to the width of the window, beyond the checkbox and the text label itself. Often when in this control, I accidently check or uncheck something by clicking in the white space. Pictures to illustrate:

Video Game Database Discussion / Where to put a "demo movie" ?

Going through my demo pile, I came across something that is not really a demo. It is in the same packaging as the PS2 "longbox" demos (as in the cardboard packaging is the XY dimensions of a DVD case... rectangular) ... Has a barcode and P/N, says NOT FOR RESALE on it... but clearly says it is a DVD Movie.

So I can add it, no problem... but tell me if it should be in the "PlayStation 2 Demo" section, or if there is another section it should go. I searched and did not find it already in the database.

Site Feedback / Links timeout and then redirect to feed

I've noticed this a lot and forgot to post about it. Many times I click on a link to a page on the site, it sits for a period of time and then will send me to my Feed. I've seen this in each of these scenarios:
- clicking a link to an entry, say from the Duplicate Listing thread
- clicking on a link to someone's collection from a page on another website

The first time I do this, I end up at my feed. If I reclick the link, then I end up in the correct place.
This has happened both on Firefox and Chrome.

I'd like to request a change to the advanced search. The ability to search only physical media, or to exclude digital versions like PSN, XBLA, Steam, Gog, etc.

Video Game Database Discussion / What section for Mac games?

I have a couple Mac games I wanted to add but there doesn't seem to be a place. I figured I'd ask prior to requesting a "missing console" to be added. There only seems to be Apple II and then Mac OS X categories. Nothing for in between. It wouldn't feel right to put them in PC [NA]...

Specifically I want to add 2 Pirates! Gold versions for Mac on 3.5" floppy and CD-ROM. Where should they go?

Site Feedback / Update Notification showing row ID instead of value for Rating

I submitted an edit to change the rating of a game from E to E10+. The notification says this:

 Your edit to NHL 2K8 was approved.
Tuesday October 28th, 2014 at 4:14 PM
Field:   rating
New Value:   3

I'm presuming the New Value returned in the notification should say "E10+ (ESRB)" instead of 3.

Video Game Database Discussion / Mis-identified listed, Edit question

Found a problem listing while going through my collection:

72 people have this game in their collection but there is a problem. It is the only one listed in Genesis[NA] category and the problem is that it is the Canadian version. Everything is correct in this entry for the Canadian release. This includes the barcode, item images, cart ID number, etc. Verify here:

I didn't want to just submit an edit to make it the Canadian version because I'm fairly certain that not everyone has that version. The initial creator was likely correct, however the edits by jeffsgames and pacpix make it into the Canadian release. I will also refrain from creating the proper US release.

What can we do about this situation?

I was just going through my collection and noticed my copy of Championship Pro-Am does not match the one pictured. The one I have is the re-release in the cardboard box. You can read about it here:

Do we just consider recalled games to be official releases or should there be an additional release type for recalled games? For example, X-Men: Destiny was recalled on all platforms.

I got a rejected edit in my notifications but there is no game or link to a database entry. I presume this means the item I chose to edit was deleted?

Site Feedback / Auto date fill-in when add to collection

Can there be an option to choose "today" along with manually entering the purchase date? By clicking the option, it would automatically fill in the current date into the drop-down options for Month/Date/Year.

It would save a lot of clicks when adding multiple items to the collection after purchase.
