I got to see Scream in theaters for the first time last night. Still one of the GOATs.
Watched an anime series for the first time in forever... I got through the very first saga in Dragon Ball and I kind of hated it? It's so weirdly sexual about children and is obsessed with showing you Goku's penis. I know Z outgrows it, so maybe this series does, too? I'll get back into it eventually.
Hellraiser (2022) - Intellectually and thematically a Hellraiser film through and through, while bringing something aesthetically and tonally new to the franchise. Best entry to the series in decades.
You Only Live Twice - It's a shame about the, um... issues with this one, because otherwise it is a very fun Bond adventure.
The Burning - Incredible summer camp slasher. Deserves more recognition.
Personally, it feels odd calling anything before 7th gen retro. However, I have been playing some stuff that can be considered retro. Just beat FF3 and 4 along with extra grinding including the superbosses (yeah it's the psp port of 3 and 4 but it's basically the same game). Given that I'm awake and September has ended, I think it's time to get in the October mood with some Castlevania! Maybe I'll finally get around to beating III and Dissonance...
So, yeah. It's not that hard now with the various collections and mid online packages offered by the main companies. Not to mention the forbidden E word...
The one game on my radar I'll likely never be able to own is complete in box copy of Dracula X for the SNES. Maybe one day I'll be lucky enough and find one not in crappy condition for <$1k. From what I've heard Dracula X is an inferior port of the PCE original anyway. I got Rondo for much less and in like new condition so Dracula X can wait.
Been fortunate enough to find respectable deals on Rule or Rose and Haunting Ground, naturally Kuon is on the horizon as well. I have better odds acquiring that versus Dracula X.
Went to a church sale I was informed about having an AVR that I might be looking for. It wasn't there anymore but also it was day 2 of the sale and I thought it was day 1. So who knows what else was there that I missed. It has been many years since I found cartridge games in the wild.
For $5 each (they were marked 10 but it was day 2 half off) some SNES carts
- Killer Instinct
- X-Men Mutant Apocalypse
- Cool Spot
- Ren & Stimpy Veediots
and 2 PC CDs for free
- Microsoft Golf 2.0
- 40 Best Windows 95 Games
And then to the thrift store a couple PC games for $1 (just the CDs)
- NHL Hockey
- Magic Carpet
I have more on pre-order right now than I ever have at once. A lot to look forward to, much gaming in my future!
-C64 Collection (Evercade)
-God of War: Ragnarok (PS4)
-Gotham Knights (Xbox Series X)
-High on Life (Xbox Series X)
-Irem Collection (Evercade)
-Sega Genesis Mini 2 Console
-Sonic Frontiers (Xbox Series X)
-Toaplan Collection (Evercade)
And whenever it becomes available for pre-order, the Resident Evil 4 Remake (Xbox Series X) will be a day 1 pre-order.
After a good, long while, I finally had a craving to get some older, random stuff added to the collection
