Another Shoot'Em Up game I really enjoyed playing was "Truxton" for SEGA Genesis/Megadrive ... I highly recommend it!

Mark from Classic Game Room's favorite.

I got to see Scream in theaters for the first time last night.  Still one of the GOATs.

Watched an anime series for the first time in forever... I got through the very first saga in Dragon Ball and I kind of hated it?  It's so weirdly sexual about children and is obsessed with showing you Goku's penis.  I know Z outgrows it, so maybe this series does, too?  I'll get back into it eventually.

Hellraiser (2022) - Intellectually and thematically a Hellraiser film through and through, while bringing something aesthetically and tonally new to the franchise.  Best entry to the series in decades.

You Only Live Twice - It's a shame about the, um... issues with this one, because otherwise it is a very fun Bond adventure.

The Burning - Incredible summer camp slasher. Deserves more recognition.

The opening scene of The Burning and raft scene were awesome. But there was a whole lot of filler in that movie.

One of my favorite genres! Are you a fan? What got you into them? What are some of your favorites in the genre?

When I originally got my NES as a wee lad Star Soldier was amongst the games I got with it. Played the hell out out of the game. Loved it. Still own it to this day. Ever since then I've loved a good shoot-em up game. (Though I can't say I'm a big fan of the bullet hell stuff that came out years later.)

Some of my favorites:

-Darius Series
-Dragon Spirit
-Gradius Series
-Legendary Wings
-Lords of Thunder
-Raiden Series
-Sky Force Series
-Star Soldier Series
-Strikers: 1945
-Thunder Force Series
-Tyrian 2000

G4's Icons is a great documentary series on various gaming subjects. Loved that show.

Console Wars on Paramount+ was a fantastic look at the war between Sega and Nintendo.

Personally, it feels odd calling anything before 7th gen retro. However, I have been playing some stuff that can be considered retro. Just beat FF3 and 4 along with extra grinding including the superbosses (yeah it's the psp port of 3 and 4 but it's basically the same game). Given that I'm awake and September has ended, I think it's time to get in the October mood with some Castlevania! Maybe I'll finally get around to beating III and Dissonance...

So, yeah. It's not that hard now with the various collections and mid online packages offered by the main companies. Not to mention the forbidden E word...

Excrement?

Wow, that sucks. The entire point of a pre-order is to guarantee a copy when it comes out.

I pre-order through GameStop all the time and that has never happened to me.

Right here. Still have all my consoles hooked up and currently in the middle of the original Resident Evil. Trying to do a Chris playthrough and getting wrecked by utter lack of ammo, thinking of starting over the easy route with Jill.

Fuck cancel culture...nuff said.

The one game on my radar I'll likely never be able to own is complete in box copy of Dracula X for the SNES. Maybe one day I'll be lucky enough and find one not in crappy condition for <$1k. From what I've heard Dracula X is an inferior port of the PCE original anyway. I got Rondo for much less and in like new condition so Dracula X can wait.

Been fortunate enough to find respectable deals on Rule or Rose and Haunting Ground, naturally Kuon is on the horizon as well. I have better odds acquiring that versus Dracula X.

Castlevania Collection. I know it's not the cart, but at least it's an official way to play it.

Went to a church sale I was informed about having an AVR that I might be looking for. It wasn't there anymore but also it was day 2 of the sale and I thought it was day 1. So who knows what else was there that I missed. It has been many years since I found cartridge games in the wild.

For $5 each (they were marked 10 but it was day 2 half off) some SNES carts
- Killer Instinct
- X-Men Mutant Apocalypse
- Cool Spot
- Ren & Stimpy Veediots
and 2 PC CDs for free
- Microsoft Golf 2.0
- 40 Best Windows 95 Games

And then to the thrift store a couple PC games for $1 (just the CDs)
- NHL Hockey
- Magic Carpet

Love X-Men: Mutant Apocalypse. Best X-Men game until Legends came out.

Just finished Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy on Xbox Series X.

...it was fun, but not as great as everyone seemed to make it out to be. It was something that I was glad I played through, but don't see myself revisiting, either. Repetitive combat, and a kind of meh story for me. But the character dialogue and interactions were fun.

Afterwards I played through the short games of Wolflame - A cool shoot-em up inspired by the Raiden games on the Shmup Collection for Switch. And the House of the Dead remake for Switch.

And recently completed both arcade games on the TMNT: Cowabunga Collection on Xbox Series X.

I watched the first episode of Rings of Power, I got about 45 minutes in, was bored to tears.

I have more on pre-order right now than I ever have at once. A lot to look forward to, much gaming in my future!

-C64 Collection (Evercade)
-God of War: Ragnarok (PS4)
-Gotham Knights (Xbox Series X)
-High on Life (Xbox Series X)
-Irem Collection (Evercade)
-Sega Genesis Mini 2 Console
-Sonic Frontiers (Xbox Series X)
-Toaplan Collection (Evercade)

And whenever it becomes available for pre-order, the Resident Evil 4 Remake (Xbox Series X) will be a day 1 pre-order.

I totally forgot I also have Life on Mars: Genesis for the Sega Genesis pre-ordered, too!

After a good, long while, I finally had a craving to get some older, random stuff added to the collection

DS:
Scripps Spelling Bee

Wii:
Glacier 2
The Island of Dr. Frankenstein

360:
Captain America: Super Soldier
Dragon's Dogma
Happy Feet 2
Ice Age Continental Drift: Arctic Games
Moto GP '06
Snoopy's Grand Adventure

That Captain America game is surprisingly good!
