Off Topic / Re: What Was The Last Movie/Anime You Watched?
« on: September 17, 2022, 07:12:18 pm »
I saw them both in theaters.  Dredd is the better overall film, but as a pure action spectacle The Raid takes it.

A Little Princess - One of the more technically impressive films for children I've ever seen. I suppose that's to be expected when you've got Cuaron and Lubezki on set.

The Baxter - Kinda clever anti-romcom that doesn't do enough with its central complete.

Inherent Vice - Clever and engaging hippie noir.  Amazing performances, wonderfully put together, but drags a bit in the third act.

Splinter - Solid and nasty little low budget body horror.

Beauty and the Beast (2017) - The musical half does its damnedest to make this movie worth the runtime, but the plotting pulls it way down. I appreciated the indulgence up front to give things a bit more context, but pretty much every other addition drags things to halt each time they come up.

Incredible set and production design, though!

I'm the one guy that liked the 90s Judge Dredd movie.

And I have that Beauty and the Beast movie memorized. My daughter must have watched it over 100 times when it was her favorite movie. I swear Staley Tucci looks coked out of his mind as he's playing piano at the end of the movie.

I'm halfway through the new season of Cobra Kai...I hope it gets better. I love the show, but this season has been pretty blah. I think they're starting to run thin on ideas.

Finished the season today. It did get better, but still was the weakest season, yet. And the return of Kreese tease for season 6 really hammers down my point about them running out of ideas.

... dude what the fuck

Sorry, didn't mean to piss on your parade. It is a cool game and a nice pick-up. I was just trying to give a nod to the underdog Wii U.

I have more on pre-order right now than I ever have at once. A lot to look forward to, much gaming in my future!

-C64 Collection (Evercade)
-God of War: Ragnarok (PS4)
-Gotham Knights (Xbox Series X)
-High on Life (Xbox Series X)
-Irem Collection (Evercade)
-Sega Genesis Mini 2 Console
-Sonic Frontiers (Xbox Series X)
-Toaplan Collection (Evercade)

And whenever it becomes available for pre-order, the Resident Evil 4 Remake (Xbox Series X) will be a day 1 pre-order.

I found what I guess has become a fairly uncommon Switch game as in I haven't seen it on shelves for a couple of years. It was just there at a gamestop today and around the price it is online (so saved on not having to get it shipped out to me). Kinda had a "when am I going to see this again?" Moment.

-Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition

Perfect reason to still own a Wii U. Many of the Switch games retaining their value are dirt cheap on the Wii U, including this one.

I understand the sentiment, but the Definitive Edition for Nintendo Switch includes all of the DLC from both the Wii U and 3DS versions, new content of its own, and other minor updates. The original version for Wii U has less content which is probably a factor for its low market value.

Even if you paid for the DLC, it's still cheaper on Wii U, though. I have the DLC. Same goes for Super Mario Maker, Breath of the Wild, New Super Mario Bros. U, etc.

Not being portable is a loss, though. But for me personally, I like console gaming more anyways.

I've gotten most of my heavy-hitters, even if some of them are re-releases or digital releases. But Punisher on Genesis is the one that got away, for me. ☹️ I loved the arcade game, we had one at the 7-11 in front of our neighborhood and wasted many a quarter on it. Great beat-em up with lots of weapons and breakable scenery. Also used to rent the Genesis version.

And if we can throw consoles onto this: The Vectrex. I've always wanted to play one. But Classic Game Room (loved the show) gave it legendary status and it's been crazy pricey since.

Tekken 8 was the only thing that got my blood pumping. GoW Ragnarok might have got me excited, but I am so behind in the franchise that I need to play catch up before jumping into the newest game in the franchise. The last GoW game I beat was 2 on the PS2 lol. But overall it was a pretty disappointing State of Play for me and it still leaves me dissatisfied with my decision to get a PS5. On a side note, my wife is beyond hyped for Hogwarts Legacy, which I'm excited for her, but personally have no interest in Harry Potter.

All you need to play to understand this God of War is the one right before it.

God of War: Ragnarok is all that's on my radar for this. Which I already have pre-ordered and fully paid for.

I also don't know how people were supposed to beat the Technodrome, because I would keep getting hit by stuff that I wasn't sure how I hit or what was hitting me, it was so miserable lol

I beat the game yesterday and holy crap... that gauntlet in the Technodrome at the end just before Shredder was ridiculous. Even with rewind and all four turtles with near full health... I found the only way I could get through it was with Don constantly hitting down and inching forward so the jetpack foot would come forward and then back away off the screen disappearing. So many enemies. It was nuts.

The secret is to load up turtles with scrolls. Then you're overpowered for the later areas.

Now that Cowabunga Collection is out I find that, aside from the new Plague Tale game coming next month, that all the games I have any excitement about have massive question marks for release dates. Instinction, Mass Effect 5, new Witcher, new Tomb Raider. Hell, I don't even know if Witcher 4 will release on PS5.

Any of you in a similar boat?

That's Resident Evil 4 Remake, Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2, Lies of P, and Metroid Prime 4 for me.

But I am looking forward to a few with solid release dates: God of War: Ragnarok, High on Life, Sega Genesis Mini 2, C64 Evercade Collection, the Irem Evercade Collection, and the Toaplan Evercade Collectiom.

N64DD in general.

Really? It barely had a library to speak of, most of which was art studio software.

I pre-ordered God of War: Ragnarok for PS4, and while I was there I also got Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD on Switch for $30! I didn't realize it had gone down that much.

And TMNT: Cowabunga Collection (Xbox One/Series S/X) showed up today! Took a full week. Usually Amazon shipments only take a couple of days.
